With major nations across the world bolstering their vaccination efforts by rapidly vaccinating a majority of their citizens, India due to its massive population as well as lack of vaccines has fallen behind in the race.

Now, at a time when vaccine hesitancy remains in a large number of sections across the country, Indian activist-lawyer Prashant Bhushan has gone on to make a series of shocking tweets against the use of vaccines in India.

The 64-year-old Supreme Court advocate, while claiming that he was against the promotion of universal vaccination, said in his tweet that the younger population had a higher chance of dying through vaccination than due to Covid and severe medical complications related to it.
Bhushan, while suggesting that the vaccines compromised natural immunity, said in a tweet, "The healthy young have hardly any chance of serious effects or dying due to covid. They have a higher chance of dying due to vaccines. The covid recovered have much better natural immunity than the vaccine gives them. Vaccines may even compromise their acquired natural immunity."

In what was a contradictory tweet, the lawyer said that while he wasn't an anti-vacciner, he won't be getting jabbed with any vaccine.
For the record, I have not taken, nor do I intend to take any Covid Vaccine

Bhushan had earlier posted a tweet against the use of "experimental and untested vaccines" by citing an article about a grief-stricken man who lost her life after allegedly taking the vaccine.
He tweeted:
"No one from govt has come to visit us or order an enquiry into my wife's death.I still curse myself for persuading my wife to take the vaccine.I thought it would save us from the virus, but it killed her".

A lot of people including friends & family have accused me of promoting Vaccine hesitancy, let me clarify my position.
I am not anti Vaccine per se. But I believe it is irresponsible to promote universal vaccination of experimental&untested vaccines esp to young & Covid recovered https://t.co/SVHwgyZcvU
However, soon after seeing the barrage of Twitter posts shared by Bhushan, social media users took to the micro-blogging platform to slam the activist for irresponsibly promoting vaccine hesitancy amongst the public, especially after the disastrous Covid-19 second wave that shook the country.
Sir take 1 rupee and shut up with this nonsense unscientific view please. You are not just hurting India but the whole of humanity with this propaganda.

And then he claims he doesn't promote vaccine hesitancy. Shame.
Whats wrong with him?? this is very irresponsible coming from a senior advocate!
โ Namit Mathur (@NamitMathur_) June 28, 2021What utter nonsense. 2nd wave has seen many young .. even those without comorbidities succumb to the virus.
Nobody is forcing you to take the vaccine.. but why do you want others to suffer due to your stupidity and unscientific mindset.
And oh ..
You are not young.
This account is well on its way to getting suspended!!
โ J.R. (@rexisinthehouse) June 28, 2021These are the ages of the people I lost in my circle in June due to Covid:
Chetan, assistant director - 33,
Harikesh, costume designer - 36,
Dinesh, my 1st cousin - 45,
Amit, a dear friend - 40,
Please be responsible with your tweets. #GetVaccinated #IndiaFightsCOVID19
@pbhushan1 there is not one statement that is borne out by facts. The first hinges on "hardly any". The second is an outright untruth. The third would have been ok but for "the much better" bit... Wonder where the last one came. Responding to this amplifies your msg unfortunately
โ Jacob John (@jebujohn) June 28, 2021Two of my close friends died due to Covid. Stop this nonsense
โ Rohit TK (@T_K_Rohit) June 28, 2021'Higher chance if dying due to vaccine'
A typical argument an antivaxx uses. Do you have ANY scientific evidence to back that up??@TwitterIndia should take action on this man for spreading misinformation
Is there any field left on earth that u r not an expert at?
