Is Taapsee, Vikrant’s Haseen Dillruba Copied? People Attack The Makers On Social Media

Taapsee Pannu and Vikrant Massey’s Haseen Dillruba released on Netflix on Friday to mixed reviews. While some people praised the movie and Taapsee's performance, others bashed the movie for its tone as they felt that it was misogynistic in nature.

In a statement, Taapsee had earlier said, “Haseen Dilruba was a film I had a very strong gut feeling about the day I heard the basic idea from Kanika. Unfortunately, I wasn’t the first choice for the film and it came to me after all their options were exhausted. The good old saying that, if it’s meant for you it will come to you stands true for this case. It’s not just a beautifully written mystery, it has such wonderful characters involved which is candy in an actor’s hands. I am glad I got to experiment with my look and performance with this one because I am definitely not the go-to person for this kind of character conventionally and we all love to take risks here.”

But, people were left disappointed with the movie as they felt that there was no proper execution and the plot was too far-fetched.

And now, it has come to people’s attention that the movie’s plot was copied from writer Roald Dahl's 1953 short story, Lamb to the Slaughter. Yes, that’s the latest twist here.

One of the users wrote, “The plot of Haseen Dillruba is literally just Lamb to the Slaughter by Roald Dahl meets this one episode of Brooklyn nine. Didn't even bother stealing from something obscure.”

Following which, people have been bashing Kanika Dhillon for not even acknowledging it.
