5 Bollywood Stars Who Sacrificed Muscular Bodies & Gained Weight For Their Roles

While we’re used to applauding the efforts of actors when it comes to piling on pounds of muscle, the effort that goes into gaining muscle-less weight often goes under appreciated. For a person who’s been fit all their life, rapidly gaining weight can often be uncomfortable and even dangerous if done improperly. While it may seem all fun and games, it’s actually risky business.

Here are a few actors who sacrificed their muscles for their roles.

Akshay Kumar for Raksha Bandhan

Mr. Khiladi is renowned as the fittest guy in town. He treats his body like a temple and focuses intensively on his physical well being. So it came as a surprise to us when he reportedly gained 5kg, thanks to Ma ke haath ka khana for his role in the movie Raksha Bandhan.

Pratik Gandhi for Scam: 1992

Being a theater purist, Pratik Gandhi declined the opportunity to work with prosthetics and bodysuits. He wanted to organically transform himself into the character. So he gained 18 kilos to become Harshad Mehta. Once he was in character, it was impossible to detect any hint of Pratik Gandhi being in there, such was the overhaul. However, along with it came several health issues as his breathing pattern was affected and his body posture had become a problem as well.

Farhan Akhtar for Toofan

When prosthetics and VFX effects gave unsatisfactory results for Toofan, Farhan Akhtar took it upon himself to put on 15-20 kilos for the role. He did this so he could do justice to his character’s unfit phase in the film, leaving Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, seriously impressed.

Aamir Khan for Dangal

He’s a serial body transformer. However, most of his roles demanded him to pack on serious muscle, but for Dangal he went from 68 kilos to 95 kilos. All for a part of the movie where he was older and was supposedly unfit. His dedication to his craft never ceases to amaze.

Hrithik Roshan for Guzaarish and Super 30

This desi Greek God had to look closer to mortals for his roles in Guzaarish and Super 30. Hrithik claims to have gluttoned on fried foods like samosas and batata vada to get a 36-inch waist for the first time in his life.
