Steve Jobs’ handwritten job application is up for auction once again. However, this time bidders can buy the original document as an NFT or even the original document itself. The owner of the job application is trying to sell the job application in an effort to find out which version holds more value.

The one-page job application was created by Jobs after he dropped out of Reed College and three years after he co-founded Apple. The application does not mention the position nor the company Jobs was trying to apply to but it does say that he was interested in electronics tech or design engineer position. In the application, he included skills such as computer and calculator experience. The job application shows that Jobs applied for the job in 1979.

An NFT is a unit of data stored on a blockchain that certifies digital assets to be unique and not interchangeable. NFTs can be used to sell items such as photos, videos, audio files or any other type of audio file. NFTs are tracked on blockchain to provide the buyer proof of ownership. However, this is not the same as owning the copyright. Copies of the digital items are available for anyone to obtain and access to the original digital file is not only restricted to the buyer. 

NFTs work similarly to cryptocurrency tokens; however, the main difference is that NFTs are not mutually interchangeable like Cryptocurrencies. Digital Art has been an early use case for NFTs because of its ability to assure unique signature and ownership.

The auction website says that it's selling the real copy and a digital version to find out which holds more value. It also gives the owner a way to make more money from a single document. The auction ends in 5 days and is set to close on July 28th. Steve Jobs’ hand-written job application previously fetched 162,000 pounds (about ₹1.6 crores) in an auction in March 2021. The same job application was previously auctioned for over $175,000 (about 1.2 crores) in 2018.
