Ravichandran Ashwin was once again left on the bench as skipper Virat Kohli announced his Playing XI for the fourth Test against England that began at The Kennington Oval on Thursday.
The team management decided to persist with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja ahead of Ashwin, who is the World No. 2 bowler in the longest format.
Jadeja hasn’t delivered with the ball at all this series, going wicketless in all but one innings where he took two wickets.

Most cricket pundits around the world expected Ashwin to play his first game of their series, especially because The Oval is known for helping the spinners in later stages of the game, but everyone was left shell-shocked after Kohli revealed his Playing XI after losing the toss to Joe Root.
While Ashwin continued to warm the bench, India did make a couple of changes to their side bringing in Shardul Thakur and Umesh Yadav in place of Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami, with both of them ruled out with a niggle.
