  1. After rapid testing kits, it has been determined that dogs could potentially help detect the novel Coronavirus and may join various task forces in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic that has taken over the world. © iStock The strong sense of smell that dogs possess might help in the detection of COVID-19 carriers. In fact, reportedly, they may even be more effective than tests that are limited in quantity and are not used on asymptomatic people in countries like India. Reportedly, dogs will be able to discern the asymptomatic carriers or COVID-19 from the population who have the potential to turn into super spreaders. © iStock A British charity has teamed up with scientists to see whether dogs could help detect COVID-19 through their keen sense of smell. Medical Detection Dogs will work with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and Durham University in northeast England to determine whether canines could help in diagnoses. © iStock They're following previous research that talks about dogs' ability to sniff out malaria. The study is based on the hypothesis that each disease creates a distinct odour in humans, and dogs can, in fact, decipher these odours. The organisation said they had begun the prep to train dogs in six weeks "to help provide a rapid, non-invasive diagnosis towards the tail end of the epidemic". The charity has previously trained dogs to detect diseases such as cancer, Parkinson's and bacterial infections by sniffing samples taken from patients. And even, the detection of slight changes in skin temperature, which helps determine if the person has a fever. © iStock "In principle, we're sure that dogs could detect COVID-19," said Claire Guest, founder and chief executive of Medical Detection Dogs. "We are now looking into how we can safely catch the odour of the virus from patients and present it to the dogs. The aim is that dogs will be able to screen anyone, including those who are asymptomatic, and tell us whether they need to be tested. This would be fast, effective and non-invasive and make sure the limited NHS (National Health Service) testing resources are only used where they are really needed." But what about accuracy? The head of disease control at the LSHTM has confirmed that dogs could detect malaria with "extremely high accuracy" and, there was a "very high chance" it could also work with COVID-19. If this project by the charity is successful, dogs will be able to supplement ongoing testing by screening for the virus accurately and could âtriageâ 250 people per hour. View the full article
  2. It's been more than a few months since the coronavirus outbreak started in China, and people are still scared to step out of their homes. The situation seems to be getting a little better by each passing day, but there's a lot to recover from. As we collectively do our best to fight the deadly COVID-19 virus, tons of donations have started pouring in from wealthy individuals across the globe. In India, a lot of celebrities have come forward to donate and help our nation fight through this pandemic. Now, Google CEO Sundar Pichai has also come forward to extend a helping hand. © Reuters The Google chief has donated Rs 5 Crore to 'Give India', thereby matching Google's earlier donation to the non-profit organization to help fight the pandemic. 'Give India', for those of you who don't know, is one of the non-profit organisations that are working hard to gather all the help we need. We believe that Sundar Pichai's generous donation will definitely help them do their best and support those who are in need. Sundar Pichai's contribution will go towards the daily wage workers who are believed to be the ones that are most affected during this pandemic in India. Give India confirmed the same in a tweet. Thank you @sundarpichai for matching @Googleorg 's â¹5 crore grant to provide desperately needed cash assistance for vulnerable daily wage worker families. Please join our #COVID19 campaign: https://t.co/T9bDf1MXiv @atulsatija â GiveIndia (@GiveIndia) April 13, 2020 It's worth pointing out that Sundar Pichai's donation is an addition to the existing amount donated by Google India. On top of that, Google had announced an over $800 million commitment towards efforts to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic. So we're essentially seeing a lot of help from Google, which is great. In addition to Google, a lot of other tech companies have also stepped forward to help the world. Apple is also doing its part, and so are other companies like Tata, Paytm and more. 3. This year, Vicky Kaushal is gearing up for his new film, Bhoot. For the film, Vicky has already kick-started the promotional activities. This will be his first film after taking a brief break in 2019 and giving us massive hits like Uri last year. But, now that he's back at the game, and is also shooting for Karan Johar's Takht wherein he'll be starring alongside Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, Alia Bhatt and Janhvi Kapoor, we'll be seeing more of his public appearances. For example, recently Vicky, for the film Bhoot's promotions, wore an outfit that had an edgy biker aesthetic. Take a look here: © Amandeep/ Instagram His signature style is usually more accessible than other B-town celebrities. The due credit for this obviously goes to his stylist Amandeep Kaur. Coming back to his outfit, his bright red jacket and the pair of cargos were from the label, Six5SixStreet. While his graphic t-shirt was from Almost Gods. © Salvatore Ferragamo He had further accessorised this look with a pair of sneakers from Salvatore Ferragamo. The pair of sneakers were Gancini monogram chunky sneakers and retail for USD 687 on Farfetch which comes down to Rs. 49,000 approximately. © Amandeep/ Instagram The sneakers are so huge that they have made him taller by giving him few extra inches. We wonder if it's a task wearing these sneakers on a daily basis that seemingly look so bulky. View the full article

NBA legend Kobe Bryantâs untimely demise has left his fans mourning across the globe as the legendary basketball player lost his life in a helicopter crash and was accompanied by his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and few other officials. An inspiration for millions and a key source of motivation for anyone pursuing a career in basketball, Kobe is remembered and missed by people all over the world and the Bollywood fraternity also came forward sharing their thoughts and prayers for the departed soul. View this post on InstagramAbsolutely devastated to hear this news today. Kobe and Tiger are often compared a lot because of their similar career arcs. Both became popular names in the field of sports by the age of 21. They were both passionate towards their sports who became top-10 players of all-time in their respective fields. Both had to go through controversies and scandals at a young age, too. "I didn't know until Joey just told me coming off the 18th green," Woods told CBS Sports after the round. "I didn't understand why people in the gallery were saying, 'Do it for Mamba.' Now I understand. It's a shocker to everyone. I'm unbelievably sad, and it's one of the more tragic days. The reality is setting in because I was just told about 5 minutes ago. Life is very fragile as we all know," added Woods. "You can be gone at any given time and we have to appreciate the moments that we have. This involves regular public appearances in carefully thought-out snazzy outfits along with his co-actor Sara Ali Khan. For the Umang Awards 2020, Kartik Aaryan chose to wear a regular pair of jeans and a t-shirt with a beige shirt but what made the outfit stellar was the pair of shoes that he was wearing. 6. Farhan Akhtar is currently prepping for his film Toofan which is set to release on October 2, 2020. This is probably the reason why you see him in his bulky yet ripped avatar these days. But once in a while, he takes a break from shooting. © Viral Bhayani This is when he spends time with his family. Recently, when he had stepped out with his family and his girlfriend, Shibani Dandekar for dinner, he wore a rather interesting outfit. Firstly, this was a casual dinner so no one was particularly dressed up amongst the lot. However, Farhan Akhtar was seen in pants that were not only quirky but at the same time, relatively more functional than any other pair of pants that we've seen in a while. Take a look here: © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani The interesting element of his pants is the pockets. The pair have extremely long pockets, so much so that a tonne of things can fit in them. Pockets with that kind of space aren't designed anymore, it's luxury to have pockets at all these days in pants. And here we have Farhan Akhar with pockets the size of a bum bag. We wouldn't be surprised if he isn't carrying a bag at all. In fact, the pockets are enough to fit-in both Farhan and Shibani's personal knick-knacks together. In fact, they're big enough to hold an iPad and a phone, among other things without filling up the pocket. But seeing the incredible amount of space that these pants hold, we just hope that we're also lucky enough to find a pair of pants with pockets this size for ourselves. View the full article
  7. Rajkummar Rao started out as a 'boy next door with unparalleled acting prowess', and though the acting bit has only been going up the charts, the 'boy-next-door' bit has been replaced by an edgy fashionista. He keeps us updated about his style shenanigans through his airport appearances. The latest instance was when he stepped out in an athleisure ensemble from Adidas, top to toe, and ended up giving Ranveer Singh a run for his money. Take a look. © Viral Bhayani Rajkummar's outfit was super mod-street, however, what attracted our attention was his footwear and accessories. He wore a pair of super colourful psychedelic sneakers, that completely made up for the lack of colour in his black and white outfit. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani When it comes to accessorization, he scored a massive sixer with his 'murse' worth INR 2.5L. For the uninitiated, 'murse' is slang for 'man purse' - just like the one from Louis Vuitton that Rajkummar has been carrying here. © Viral Bhayani We are in love with the sophisticated yet badass vibe that the outfit exudes, along with the black glasses and cap Rajkummar thoughtfully added to it. Perfect for flights, and even a date, tbh! © Viral Bhayani All we can say is that we're loving the fashion shenanigans of this new, ramp-ready Rajkummar Rao. View the full article
  8. BATLOW: Steve Bellchambers is digging pits to bury the carcasses of livestock killed by bushfires which swept through his farm in Batlow, New South Wales. He is one of several dozen residents who remained in the southeastern Australian town to protect his animals as authorities urged everyone to leave last week, calling the place "undefendable". Bellchambers lost his home and many of his animals -- some he was forced to shoot to end their suffering from burns. He did manage to save some horses, however. "The smell is ingrained in your memory," he told AFP. Australia´s months-long bushfire disaster has scorched more than eight million hectares (80,000 square kilometres/30,000 square miles) of land -- an area about the size of Ireland or South Carolina. The fires are another blow for farmers already reeling from a crippling drought that has turned agricultural land bone dry. Across the country, tens of thousands of livestock are thought to have perished. Bellchambers, a 45-year-old father-of-four, said the 1,000-strong local community in Batlow had vowed to pull together. "Just because people aren´t crying, doesn´t mean they are not bleeding inside," he said. "A lot of people are running on adrenalin. They have to keep moving because once they stop, it will hit them." Stephenie Bailey watched in horror from afar as massive firestorms destroyed parts of her orchard. She returned to find her home reduced to twisted metal and charred remains. - Sparked anger - Standing beside a patch of scorched, smouldering earth, the air thick with smoke, the 64-year-old physiotherapist expressed shock at the destruction. "How will I ever feel truly safe again?" a tearful Bailey asked AFP. "Your vulnerability is exposed. We were just naked in the face of these demonic fires. But we will pull through... we are going to rebuild." Nationwide, the bushfires have killed 26 people, destroyed more than 2,000 homes and sparked anger in affected communities at the response by authorities. Rallies are planned for Friday calling on the government of Prime Minister Scott Morrison to step up efforts to tackle climate change, which experts say has helped fuel the blazes by increasing the length and intensity of Australia´s fire season. Batlow -- a gateway town to the Australian Alps -- is known for its fruit orchards and soaring pine plantations. Farmer John Garner, 68, said he has hardly slept in recent weeks as he battled around-the-clock to keep his cattle alive. He was not sure how much longer he could live on the land in light of the devastation, but said he was determined to press on. "It´s very stressful. Everything you pick up is black. Can´t do anything ´cos it´s all black. It´s a mess," he told AFP. "But I´m going to try and stay and hang on. We´ve got to try and feed the country somehow."
  9. If there's someone who can consistently surprise us on the red carpet with incredibly unconventional outfits, it is Billy Porter. The Pose star is popular for surprising us with unthinkable looks each time he's on the red carpet. For the Met Gala last year, Billy Porter arrived dressed as an Egyptian winged pharaoh. The almost diva-like entrance was carried out by the six shirtless attendants who carried Billy Porter on a plank while strutting on the red carpet. This is what his outfit looked like: © Getty Images For the Academy Awards 2019, he went for a glorious gown by Christian Siriano paired with jewellery by Oscar Heyman and Bros. So, he wore a skirt around it that looked like this: © Getty Images For the 77th Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night, Billy wore something very similar to the Academy Awards 2019 look, except this time, it was an all-white outfit. He wore a white tuxedo and a glorious angel wing feather train trailing behind him that could be zipped out easily. While speaking to the paparazzi, he said that “this isn't a sitting outfit, this is a standing outfit," said Billy. © Getty Images Alex Vanassche designed Porter's outfit, and the actor completed the look with Jimmy Choo boots and jewellery from Tiffany & Co. Porter also said that the wings actually zip on and off, because practicality is key at a long event like the Globes. © Getty Images We wonder how he managed to keep the outfit white throughout the event. 10. The West Indies team were playing a couple of levels above the struggling Indian side. The Men in Blue had to work really hard in establishing a respectable total for their opponents, especially with the top order of KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma and skipper Virat Kohli collapsing for 46 runs. But thanks to a solid partnership between Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer in the middle, India's total dragged to 287 runs. Finally Everyone is shouting Rishabh Pant instead of Dhoni. #KnowledgeableChennaiCrowd pic.twitter.com/mCHLrQzotB — Sundar G (@SunOfGan) December 15, 2019 However, it wasn't much of a challenge for the Windies who came in swinging and ended the game in style with a four behind excellent tons by Shimron Hetmyer and Shai Hope with 13 balls to spare. But one of the craziest incidents in the history of the game took place late in the first half of the match, in the 48th over of India's batting innings. It was the first delivery Ravindra Jadeja faced after the dismissal of Kedar Jadhav. Jadeja ran for a single but fielder Roston Chase threw the ball for a direct hit and appealed. As soon as the appeal for the run-out was made, the umpire, Shaun George shook his head to say that the batsman wasn't out. But a few moments later when the replay was shown on the big screen and the players appealed again (which they can't), the official called for the third-umpire (which he can't). After the match, Indian skipper was livid at the way things were executed by the officials at the moment. "The thought is simple, the fielder asked 'how is that' and the umpire said 'not out'. The dismissal ends there. The people sitting on the TV outside cannot tell the fielders to then tell the umpire to review it again," Kohli said at the post-match presentation. Virat Kohli Happy With Performances Of Shreyas Iyer And Rishabh Pant; Can't Accept Ravindra Jadeja's Dismissal Though the hosts India suffered an eight-wicket defeat against Windies in the series-opener of the three-match ODI series, Indian captain Vir... https://t.co/tQsP7dku8e pic.twitter.com/gAgp7uhUNG — HAFEEZ PARDESI (@VOICE_2U) December 15, 2019 "I've never seen that happen in cricket. I don't know where the rules are, where the line is drawn. I think the referee and the umpires have to take that up, see that incident again. And figure out what needs to be done in cricket. People sitting outside can't dictate what happens on the field. I think that's exactly what happened there," Kohli added. Umpiring has gone from bad to worse recently and while provisions like an additional official to look at no-balls have been made to make their job easier, they are still becoming more and more inefficient. Virat Kohli's anger towards the officials is completely valid and the International Cricket Council must take action against the South African umpire. View the full article

  12. Apple has a fair lead over Qualcomm and other chipset manufacturers that have been powering Android smartphones for years and this year is no exception. In our review, simple Geekbench tests showed how far ahead Apple's A13 Bionic chipset really is even when compared to Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855+ chipset. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla However, AnandTech, a publication known for breaking down CPUs and GPUs for comprehensive reviews and comparisons just published their report on the performance of the A13 Bionic chipset. The website is highly revered for testing out CPUs and GPUs in detail, and their report shows that the A13 chip is up to 30% faster than the A12 chipset. In fact, AnandTech reports that Apple's A13 maybe 2-3 years ahead of competing processors. In their report, AnandTech said, “Overall, in terms of performance, the A13 and the Lightning cores are extremely fast. In the mobile space, there's really no competition as the A13 posts almost double the performance of the next best non-Apple SoC. The difference is a little bit less in the floating-point suite, but again we're not expecting any proper competition for at least another 2-3 years, and Apple isn't standing still either.” © AnandTech When looking at AnandTech's benchmark scores, it is quite apparent that the ASUS ROG II that comes with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855+ chipset is nowhere close to the iPhone 11. In fact, the fastest Android smartphone right now doesn't even beat the iPhone X which was launched in 2017. AnandTech also found that the A13 chipset is twice as powerful as the latest Qualcomm or any other chipset found on Android smartphones. If you are a gaming fan, it is worth noting that the GPU in the A13 chipset has 50-60% higher sustained performance scores than last year's iPhone XS according to AnandTech's GFXBench graphics benchmark results. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla If you want to read the report for yourself and check out every benchmark results in detail, you can read AnandTech's detailed review here. 13. The past two days have been tormenting for the cricketing fans of Pakistan. First, the Men in Green faced a rather disappointing loss at the hands of Virat Kohli's Indian cricket team at Old Trafford, Manchester and were blasted online by their own supporters. The Sarfaraz Ahmed-led side were criticised on a lot of levels from the lack of strategic management to poor captaincy by Ahmed to even eating junk food a few hours before the match began. Former legendary cricketer, Shoaib Akhtar went on an 11 minute+ rant of himself, criticising everything bad about Pakistan's performance during the game and did not spare even the finest, more experienced athletes on the roster including Shoaib Malik. On the other hand, their South Asian rivals in Team Bangladesh came out strong against the West Indies successfully chasing a huge total of 321 in less than 42 overs thanks to monstrous innings played by Shakib Al Hasan (124*) and Liton Das (94*), further increasing the points difference against Pakistan. The Tigers have been performing deceptively well during the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019. While not a lot of people expected them to be a front runner for the World Cup trophy this year, the Mashrafe Mortaza-led side is currently fifth on the points table, just one point away from making it to the top four with four matches still to be played two of which are against Afghanistan and Pakistan themselves. 14. Pankaj Tripathi needs no introduction today. This man's talent sells tickets and has found a gazillion buyers, with filmmakers queuing up to rope in the actor in their projects. After years of struggle, now due to a happy turn of events, and with the wheel of fortune getting a move on, the 'Mirzapur' star has his hands full with great projects in the works. Lately, we have seen Pankaj Tripathi spell his magic on-screen and entertain us with great content, which only deepened our faith in him and his art. From 'Stree' to 'Luka Chhupi' we have loved every minute of his presence on-screen, because he delivers so much more than acting his part. © Twitter Pankaj adds layers of personality to the characters he plays and gives them a human touch which almost makes the viewers feel they have met the character or someone like him in real life. Apart from all that, there is something to be said about Pankaj and the kind of roles he plays. To call them mainstream or insignificant would be a mistake that can only arise from naivety. If there is one thing that must be kept in mind, it is that more screen-time does not equal to good roles when it comes to someone like Pankaj Tripathi. © Twitter Without taking up a lot of space, Pankaj has delivered some very fine performances which have a lot of substance in them. While we can appreciate and admire his past works, here are 5 'hatke' roles that Pankaj Tripathi is set to play in upcoming Bollywood films, that will only increase his fandom manifold: 1. Super 30 Hrithik Roshan's much-anticipated movie based on the life of mathematician Anand Kumar, also stars Pankaj in a significant role. Drive We saw Pankaj Tripathi pull off the portrayal of a cynical CRPF officer in 'Newton' which also earned him a lot of critical acclaim. Now, in this Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer thriller 'Drive', Pankaj Tripathi will be seen playing a uniform-clad cop. 3. '83 Based on the life of legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev and his claim to fame with 1983 World Cup win, the film will see Pankaj Tripathi essaying the role of the former manager of Indian cricket team PR Man Singh in the film and honestly, we can't wait to see Ranveer Singh and Pankaj Tripathi together on-screen! © Twitter 4. Kargil Girl Based on 'Kargil Girl' and Shaurya Chakra winning ace IAF pilot Gunjan Saxena and her adventures during the Kargil War, and starring Janhvi Kapoor in the lead role, Pankaj Tripathi will be seen essaying the role of Gunjan's father, an Army officer, in the film. 5. Angrezi Medium One of the most-awaited collaborations in the industry, Pankaj will be teaming up with Irrfan Khan for this one, and as per reports, he will apparently be playing a wheeler-dealer named Tony, who owns a travel agency and helps Irrfan and Radhika's on-screen characters to reach the UK.
  15. Before you start reading this article, please make sure you have watched season 8 episode 3 of 'Game of Thrones', for this one is full of spoilers, and surprises. Now that it's out of the way, we can get to the point. The Night King is dead. And who killed him? The one and only ninja assassin, slayer of entire houses, stabby little girl (not so little anymore after her 'interaction' with Gendry) Arya freakin' Stark. (c) Hotstar It came as a shock to everyone, but in hindsight, there was one scene that almost tried to tell us, point by point, that this is what is going to happen. The scene we are referring to is the much awaited reunion scene featuring Jon and Arya. Take a look at it here once more, before we delve deeper into discussion. Number 1: Arya sneaks up behind Jon Snow. Jon didn't so much as hear her come, to the point that that's how they start their conversation. He asks her: "How did you sneak up on me?". If that's not proof enough that Arya Stark perhaps is the biggest sneakmaster warrior there ever was, we don't know what is. (c) Hotstar Number 2: Arya doesn't answer the question. Instead, she asks: "How did you survive a knife through the heart?", to which Jon truthfully responds, "I didn't." We now know that Arya probably was just confirming whether it's possible to survive a knife through the heart. This is exactly what she did to the Night King, snuck up on him, and pushed her dagger through. (c) Hotstar Number 3: This is the exact location where she kills the Night King. The very same place. Has she been practicing? She did successfully manage to sneak up on Jon, who is, by the way, one of the best fighters in Westeros. The Night King is perhaps a better fighter, with all his magic, but he clearly couldn't escape Arya's crazy skills that she painstakingly obtained in Braavos while training under the Faceless Man. (c) Hotstar Guess they have been trying to tell us all along. Anyway, take a bow, Arya Stark!
  16. The character of Bhallaldeva is perhaps the only 'villain' ever, that got more attention than the 'hero' himself. The reason? The sheer charisma of the actor who played it. Rana Daggubati has it all - women want him, men want to be like him, kids idolize him. And why not? The man, apart from being an actor worth his salt, is quite the looker, add to that his raw charisma and inimitable beard game - and we get 'the full package'. His style game is super strong as well, and fashion designers and stylists know it. With a height of almost 6'3", he has slayed it on the runway multiple times. Here are some of those instances. 1. Can you picture anything else but this, when someone says 'sophisticated royal elegance'? © BCCL 2. We're digging the sheer kurta and scarf, along with the voluminous dhoti. © BCCL 3. 17. Tom Holland has done it again! And, if your mind didn't automatically go to giving spoilers right now, I'm sorry but you're not a true Marvel fan. Tom, along with Mark Ruffalo, are truly the best and the worst because of their tendency to give out spoilers. It's hilarious and even they know how much they screw up. Mark has reached a point where he's the one joking about it and was even fake fired by the Russo Brothers. And well, Tom is just Tom. View this post on Instagram Lmao same. #CommentsByCelebs A post shared by Comments By Celebs (@commentsbycelebs) on Jan 18, 2019 at 6:43pm PST But unfortunately, this is not the kind of spoiler he's given this time. Apparently, an old interview of him promoting 'Avengers: Infinity War' with Benedict Cumberbatch has resurfaced for a very important reason, as it basically confirmed a theory everyone already knew about. We knew that quantum realm will play an important part in the upcoming final Avengers movie, what with Scott Lang stuck there alone at the end of 'Ant Man And The Wasp' and then somehow appearing in the first trailer of 'Endgame', but obviously, Marvel will never confirm it. But thankfully, Tom did, and he did it before even 'Infinity War' released. Coming back to the interview and the unassuming spoiler, when both the actors were asked that out of the two, who flubbed the most lines, Benedryl Cucumber named himself but was Tom was quick to defend him. Tom said, “He has the most difficult lines, though. He has to talk about so much Quantum Realm... stuff. I just have to talk about, 'Yeah man, that's awesome!' So mine's easy, but his is all so difficult.” Well, back then a lot of people might have thought that it was an 'Infinity War' spoiler, but now we know Doctor Strange didn't mention quantum realm even once in that movie. This can only mean one thing, Doctor Strange is obviously coming back and he could also be the one to save Ant Man. Moreover, it seems like the quantum realm is the answer to all of the OG Avengers' problems and it will help undo Thanos' snap, and all the destruction it caused, and bring back all the 'dusted' characters. I can't stress this enough, but honestly, April 27th cannot come soon enough.
  18. In the era where the likes of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal were leaving everyone behind, Novak Djokovic undoubtedly stepped up his game to give the proven stars a run for their money and stake claim as one of the modern-day greats. His consistent performances on the big stage also helped him forge a partnership with Nadal and Federer as tennis' 'Big Three'. But, apart from running past opponents with his aggressive baseline play, the Serbian star has also struck a chord with tennis fans with his sense of humour. Staying true to his nickname 'Djoker', the 31-year-old continues to be an exciting prospect for his antics both on and off the field. © Reuters His pun and wit were once again in full display during a media interaction following his Australian Open triumph over Nadal in the final. Justifying his World No. 1 ranking, Djokovic proved to be too good for his Spanish counterpart, securing a 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 win in the all-important clash at the Rod Laver Arena. After winning his 15th Grand Slam title, a joyous Djokovic sent the press into hysterics by imitating an Italian journalist during the post-match media interaction. The Italian journalist was curious about Djokovic's thoughts on his record Australian Open haul. But, before the poor journo could complete his question, the Serbian interrupted midway to pull off a hilarious Italian accent while mocking him. .@DjokerNole sent the press into hysterics ð¤£#AusOpen pic.twitter.com/7blHxlDfHM — #AusOpen (@AustralianOpen) January 27, 2019 “Novak, congratulations. Seven Australian Opens, 15 Grand Slams...,” the Italian reporter began. Not too bad (with an Italian accent),” replied Djokovic as the press room burst into laughter. The reporter quickly said: “Cannot complain.” Djokovic, with a wry smile, apologised saying, “Sorry but you're always like 'Okay, man, yeah (Italian accent)'.” What a charming Champion ! !we love DJOKO ! !! — philomene pierre eti (@rosecarmelpierr) January 27, 2019 While his antics left everyone in splits, Djokovic's latest triumph is no joke. After beating Nadal in the final, Djokovic lifted his seventh Australian Open title, going clear of Federer and the legendary Roy Emerson in the list of most title wins in Melbourne Park. He also has a 100 per cent record in Australian Open final and a defeat-less streak in the tournament's history as a world no. 1. Too funny! He is a loveable character! ð — Lizzie K (@lizkoroneos) January 27, 2019 When it comes to Grand Slam titles, Djokovic, following his Australian Open win, now has 15 to his name as he overhauled tennis legend Pete Sampras in the all-time list. He is now only behind Federer (20) and Nadal (17) in the all-time list of most Grand Slam title wins in men's singles.
  19. CES (Consumer Electronics Show) is the world's largest tradeshow for everything electronics and will be starting this week in Las Vegas. All the latest products and technologies are unveiled at the event, and due to the exponentially huge number of companies trying to make a mark, we often see them take a dig at one another. This year, Apple has a strong message for Google, Amazon and a plethora of other companies who utilize user data for advertisements. “What happens on your iPhone, stays on your iPhone,” says a billboard facing the Las Vegas Convention Center. This is right outside CES 2019, and while Google and other companies actively participate at the tradeshow, Apple has always kept a distance. © Twitter / Chris Velazco Apple has also mentioned the link to its privacy website where users can better understand the data policies of iPhones. Even though the company has no official affiliation with the industry event, it sure wants to send across a strong message. The timing is even more interesting because Apple has revised its revenue forecast due to lower than expected sales of the iPhone. The statement is similar to the popular statement, "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas." Also, while Google's ads are filled with colours, Apple has opted for a black and white only palette, indirectly meaning it's damn serious. © Twitter / LVMonorail As far as technicalities are concerned, Apple isn't wrong with the ad. Even though iPhone's have suffered some really embarrassing bugs in the last few years, privacy is one point that always remains unhindered. iOS is crystal clear about these privacy norms and doesn't let any app or service access your data without explicit permission. Even if we ignore third-party services, Apple never "processes" your usage data to target ads. On the other hand, Google is definitively an "advertising" company and relies on metadata to feed your phone with relevant ads. Amazon too had a number of dubious moments last year with the latest case being-- Amazon sharing 1,700 Alexa recordings of a man with a stranger. © Reuters After the Cambridge Analytica scandal, even the end user is more aware of data privacy and the industry has undergone drastic changes. Companies have been trying their best to convince people their data is safe. Apple's CEO Tim Cook has also been very vocal about user privacy in recent times. He also called on tech companies to essentially to “deidentify customer data or not to collect it in the first place.” While the Apple vs Google fight will go on indefinitely, these snarky ads are surely very entertaining for us.
  20. Christmas is celebrated globally and pretty much marks the end of the year. Everyone is in a relaxed mood, schedules are filled with holidays and everyone just wants to relax. Seems like the holiday season now extends to "artificial" beings as well. Amazon's Echo smart speakers went down across the network on Christmas Day, with thousands of people reporting that the company's artificial intelligence assistant Alexa appeared to have gone on a festive break. © Amazon Amazon recently reported that it had sold "tens of millions" of the Echo range of smart speakers powered by the company's AI assistant Alexa. It's simple to conclude, a lot of people opened their presents in the morning, fired up the speaker and asked it way too many questions. It's natural for all of us to play around a maximum time when the gadget is new, and this flood of new users downed the servers. Thanks to the tens of thousands, or maybe even millions of commands coming in from all over the globe, the system just couldn't handle it. Even Alexa had it with humans and decided to be Absent Without Leave (AWOL), and I'm sure HR folks at Amazon weren't very excited about it. Oh dear. Red ring of death #alexa pic.twitter.com/aPqlE6LUX5 — Angus Fox ð´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ (@nuxnix) December 25, 2018 Multilingual Alexa, who has more than 70,000 different skills, told over 100 million jokes in 2018, but people were less than impressed with her Christmas day stunt. Rather than give the desired response, when the system crashed at about 10 am, Alexa said: "Sorry, I'm having trouble understanding you right now." Though, the system was slowly back on track by the end of the afternoon. Replying to a query on Twitter, Amazon said they were aware of the issue and a technical team would resolve it within 12-24 hours. © Outage(dot) report The Amazon Echo speaker has a ring on the top, it usually is blue in colour, but turned red on Christmas Day. This obviously, wasn't planned to match along with the festival, but a sign that Alexa is unable to connect with the server successfully. The system wasn't globally down as many users in the U.S.A reported no issues while the most affected seem to be UK and Italy. The Amazon Echo Dot was Amazon's most popular gift in the lead up to the holidays.
  21. “MenXP, are you using internet explorer?” “Admin, the trailer came out like 10 days ago.” “Admin, keep up, we already know everything, you're late.” Before anyone comments anything like this, I'm saying sorry, yes everyone did the story as soon as the trailer comes out and not 11 days late like us, but at least better late than never. Thank you. The trailer is tragic, obviously, but it's still brilliant. I mean Marvel finally gave us the trailer but they made the trailer in such a way that you still can't figure out exactly what's happening. This has given rise to plenty of fan theories already and if you want to read about some of those, we'll have you covered, just check MensXP in the next few days for those. Coming back to the trailer, here are some things that stood out for me after watching (and rewatching, and rewatching, and rewatching…) the trailer and the things that might have been missed by some people when they watched the trailer. 1. The A in the title reveal 'reassembling' The title reveal in the trailer is pretty cool, to say the least, and it might be giving us a hint because Marvel doesn't do anything randomly, it's all calculated. Okay, just look at the A coming together, or rather reassembling, so it could be pointing to all the characters who turned to dust coming back together. Basically, the trailer might be telling us for sure that everyone will come back and honestly, that's the kind of positivity I need in my life. 2. Whose hand is that? The trailer sets it up to look like it's Nebula's hand on Tony Stark's shoulder but we all know Nebula's hand doesn't look like that and we all also know how misleading Marvel trailers can actually be. Well, my guess is that it's Captain Marvel there to save Tony since she's going to play a huge role in the movie. 3. Shuri also turned to dust in Infinity War It's kind of a blink and you miss it moment but when Bruce Banner is looking at Scott Lang's picture in the missing people database, you can see a slide with Shuri's face which quickly turns to Peter Parker. This kind of contradicts the assumptions people made about how Tony was getting help from Shuri because of some set pictures that showed Tony somewhere that looked like Wakanda. 4. Whose hand is it? Part two Seeing Peggy Carter's picture in the trailer was unexpected to say the least and again the trailer sets it up to look like Steve is actually holding that. But come on, it's not Steve's hand but rather a woman's. Could it be Natasha holding it? Is it foreshadowing Cap's death? 5. 'Endgame' has been mentioned not once but twice before 'Avengers: Infinity War' is still fresh in everyone's mind and so are Dr. Strange's words foreshadowing the title of this movie - “We're in the end game now.” But, it has been referenced in the Avengers movie preceding Infinity War as well. Yep, Tony said the line “That up there, that's the endgame” in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'.
  22. Even though the gentlemen's game started off with a basic all-white outfit in the field to begin with, glamour has finally caught up with the sport, and now it's perhaps more fashionable than any other sport. Indian cricketers, at the moment, are giving Bollywood actors a run for their money when it comes to being stylish, and brands are using that to their benefit, rightfully so. 2018 has witnessed a plethora of such instances, because cricketers in India now are more fashionable than ever. Here, we have compiled a list of 6 Indian cricketers who hit some huge fashion boundaries throughout the year. 1. Virat Kohli Virat Kohli got married last year, and his wedding outfit legit haunted Ranveer Singh - even after a year. If that doesn't say a lot about the man and his fashion sense, we don't know what else does. Virat's fashion game is as strong as his prowess on the field, and he has been proving it time and time again. © Instagram/viratkohli © Times Now © Instagram/viratkohli © Manyavar 2. Hardik Pandya Hardik Pandya is the poster boy of all things 'bling' in Indian cricket, and he clearly intends to take things far. Be it his statement outfits or funky jewellery, Hardik sure knows how to play it cool. © Instagram/hardikpandya93 © Instagram/hardikpandya93 © Instagram/hardikpandya93 © Instagram/hardikpandya93 3. KL Rahul When it comes to new talent in the Indian cricket team, KL Rahul is among the most promising faces. His fashion sense is also as intense as his boundaries on the field. © MensXP © MensXP © MensXP © MensXP 4. Manish Pandey Manish Pandey is one of the most promising faces when it comes to potential in terms of being a kickass middle-order batsman. 23. Remember waking up on a Saturday morning, loving that you didn't have to go to school, heading straight to the TV, putting on your console and playing your favourite game? Yeah, that's what the weekends looked like when we were kids. Wasn't it fun? Way better than the present day when all we have to look forward to on the weekend is paying electricity bills and getting the flush repaired. Yes, we're all at an age where nostalgia is hitting us hard at every single turn, so today, let's look back at 5 video games we never got enough of as kids: Contra There's no way we're ever forgetting this game. From the cool music to the endless action, it was pretty much the best shooting game of its generation. I'm yet to meet anyone, gamer or non-gamer, who hasn't heard of Contra. As a kid, it was the ultimate video game for me. Shooting games couldn't possibly get any better, right? Boy, was I wrong! Still, you know how they say you never forget your first. Yeah, that! Super Mario Bros. There have been tons of different versions of Mario but the original will always be one of our favourites. No, we're talking about Mario's first appearance (Donkey Kong), we're talking about the game the entire family can enjoy. I remember my brother and my cousins patiently waiting for their turn to play. Spare a thought for Luigi though, the poor guy never stood a chance back then. Road Rash This list wouldn't be complete without paying homage to the first co-op video game in Indian history. No, Road Rash wasn't actually a co-op game, but all of us remember controlling the bike while our younger siblings got to kick anyone who came close to us. If that's not teamwork I don't know what is. I have some fond memories of this one. Midtown Madness Road Rash was our first tryst with racing games, but Midtown Madness was a cut above in more ways than one. We had so many vehicles to choose from, so many different maps. It was a dream to play. It was also my first introduction to the roadster. Boy that car could move. Pac-Man We end this list with possibly one of the most iconic games of the millennium, Pac-Man. The concept was simple, fun and the music just made it so much more enjoyable. It also taught us that eating fruit would scare ghosts away. Now that's top-notch life advice, right? We will never forget any of these video games no matter how many years go by. But, if you're looking for a, sort of, mini-jolt of nostalgia, check out 'Ralph Breaks The Internet.' It is a more than apt successor to the first movie and nostalgia is just one of the reasons why you should check it out.
  24. Ever since its launch on Amazon Prime Video on November 16, 'Mirzapur' has been the talk of the town for reasons even we cannot deny. From a stellar cast to sharp dialogues and a thrilling story line, this web series has our stamp of approval for a binge-worthy watch during a lazy weekend. While the web series revolve around Pankaj Tripathi, Divyenndu Sharma, Vikrant Massey and Ali Fazal's characters, we couldn't help but notice other characters that a massive contribution in shaping the plot of the show. 1. Kulbhushan Kharbanda As Bauji Okay, we got to be honest here! We have been eagerly waiting to see Kulbhushan Kharbanda on our screens for quite sometime and this comeback of his was long due. His role as bauji in 'Mirzapur' may be short albeit his performance is beyond perfection. The veteran actor plays Akhandanand's father in the show. Bauji is an ex-con and despite being wheelchair-bound plots a series of underhand dealings and plans to tackle various problems. Besides, Kharbanda's one-liners are a treat to listen if you are into dark, dry humour. 2. Amit Sial As Ram Sharan Maurya Amit Sial plays IPS RS Maurya in Mirzapur; a character that will bring you some hope amidst all that bloodthirsty power struggle and violence. Maurya saab is bold, valiant, righteous and unapologetic. Portrayed as one of the few good guys in the series, he is determined to put an end to the crimes that happen in Mirzapur. 3. Sheeba Chaddha As Vasudha Pandit Sheeba Chaddha is a terrific actor and her role in 'Mirzapur' adds yet another feather in her hat. She plays Vasudha Pandit, wife of Ramkant Pandit played by Rajesh Tailang. She is a strong woman and a stronger woman who takes pride in her sons' newfound money and status and she doesn't shy away from flaunting it. 4. Subhrajyoti Barat As Rati Shankar Shukla Subrajyoti Barat's character as Rati Shankar Shukla in 'Mirzapur' is a small one yet it sets the tone for the overall story line. Rati Shankar is the crime lord of Jaunpur and a flashback towards the start of the series reveals a deadly rivalry between Kaleen Bhaiya (played by Pankaj Tripathi) and him that marks the trigger point for the endless murders, betrayals and illegal weapon trade in Mirzapur. 5. Harshita Gaur As Dimpy Pandit The internet can't seem to get enough of Harshita Gaur's character Dimpy Pandit in Mirzapur and we get it why. She is Guddu's (played by Ali Fazal) and Bablu's (played by Vikrant Massey) sister and at first shown as extremely docile. But as the story progresses, she grows into a stronger character who fights for her own individuality. Directed by Karan Anshuman and Puneet Krishna, the series is a gangster drama set in the little-known lawless town of Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh. The town is functions around the whims and fancies of underworld boss Akhandanand Tripathi aka Kaleen Bhaiya. He is feared and respected by his people but despite his reputation, he has his own vulnerable point - his son, Munna who cannot wait to inherit his father's legacy. Sounds interesting, right? Go ahead and watch 'Mirzapur' on Amazon Prime Video. Trust us, you'll get hooked!
  25. Just when people thought that Virushka was the wedding phenomenon of the decade, out came DeepVeer, all guns and missiles blazing, to prove the world wrong. They not only succeeded, they made the world wait 2 full days to take a look at the proof. Finally, the pictures came out, and the country is in a state of euphoria. We all were waiting with bated breath to see what Ranveer Singh - the poster boy of path-breaking fashion in Bollywood - will be wearing on the most important day of his life, and boy, did he deliver and how. It was obvious that comparisons will be made to the Virushka phenomenon, because of a number of reasons. One, the glamour quotient of both the couples are incredible, and two, both were styled by the wedding outfit virtuoso - Sabyasachi Mukherjee. (c) PTI (c) Instagram/deepikapadukone Looking at the pictures, however, it became clear that Ranveer won this match, fair and square. The winning sixer? A piece of jewellery he wore for his Sindhi wedding, with a gorgeously, intricately embroidered red and gold sherwani. (c) instagram/deepikapadukone Ranveer wore a piece of signature Sabyasachi heritage jewellery - a huge falcon pendant made of uncut diamonds and emeralds. The pendent was not a piece in itself, but a part of the elaborate diamond-encrusted neckpiece, that took the place of pride, over his strings of rich maroon garnets. (c) instagram/deepikapadukone Just look at that beauty! Now, compared to that, Virat had no jewellery on, at least conspicuously so (though he had a turban brooch). (c) PTI Not that it's a competition, but Ranveer certainly is breaking barriers when it comes to more inclusive choices in terms of men's fashion. Take a bow, Baba!
