‘Ro Kyu Rahe Ho’ Neeraj Chopra Shares Near-Death Experience & His Take On Life Is So Mature

Javelin thrower and the only gold medalist for the Indian contingent at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, Neeraj Chopra once shared the story of the time when he thought his plane was about to crash. However, while the story itself was very gripping, it was what he said at the end that has his fans commending his level of maturity at such a young age.

As a guest speaker at an event, Chopra spoke about the time he had to take a flight from Abu Dhabi to Frankfurt and how the plane lost control for 10-15 seconds while in mid-air.

“For 10-15 seconds, all the lights were off and it felt as if the flight was descending at a very high speed. I had put on my headphones. As soon as I removed them, I could see people in chaos. People were crying, somebody was screaming, kids were also crying,” Chopra described the scenario in what would obviously be a scary feeling.

“So I said to my physio, who was sitting next to me ‘What’s the point of screaming now? If it has to go down, it will go down and nobody can stop it,’” said the 23-year-old while keeping a completely calm face and even offering a smile.

Ever since Chopra won the medal, it is no surprise that he has gained an incredible amount of popularity among the sports fans of the country. What he did at the Olympics and the kind of confidence with which he did it is also commendable.

However, there is more to just winning the gold medal that has led to more and more people following him on social media platforms and watching (and rewatching) his videos - it is his character, his personality, and his vision towards various aspects of life that make him such a likable person.

From demanding to be interviewed in Hindi, to standing up for his Pakistani rival when the rumours of ‘javelin tampering’ surrounded him, Chopra is not only an exceptional athlete but also an incredible human being and the nation is proud to call him its son.
