    The year 2016 was witness to some of the most memorable performances by the Indian sports stars. But, while men in sports usually run away with the limelight, it was the female athletes who lifted the spirits of India this year.
    For a country that is too often in the news for the social challenges faced by its women, a series of world-class performances by India's female athletes has created a new generation of national icons.
    Whether it was the majestic PV Sindhu or the record-breaking Harmanpreet Kaur, their successes have won them the adulation of millions and turned a spotlight the high barriers they overcame to make 2016 an year to remember in sports.
    So, as we draw curtains on 2016 and embark on a new journey in 2017, here's a look at the top sports women who made India proud this year:

    After lurking in the shadows of the popular badminton figure Saina Nehwal, the 21-year-old PV Sindhu found her stardom with a series of some impeccable performances this year. The teen sensation bagged the coveted silver medal at the Rio Olympics and then went on to bag the China Open Super Series in November this year.
    At a time when India's medal hopes from badminton were dashed after the ouster of Nehwal, Sindhu elevated her game and clinched the lone silver medal for India at the Rio Games. She was defeated by Spain's Carolina Marin 21-19, 12-21, 15-21 in a pulsating final. In the process, she became the first Indian woman to win an Olympic silver medal.
    At the China Open, Sindhu became the third non-chinese athlete to win the tournament in the last 30 years. She defeated home favourite Sun Yu 21-11, 17-21, 21-11 in the summit clash. Her exploits also saw her ascend to the seventh spot in the world rankings on 1 December.

    No one would have probably picked Sakshi Malik as a probable to land a medal, let alone win India's first, at the Rio Olympics. But, her grit and poise was at full display when she pulled off a sensational 8-5 victory over Kyrgyzstan's Aisuluu Tynybekova in the playoff bout, ending India's painful wait for a medal at the Games.
    The 23-year-old earned a dramatic win after falling behind 0-5 in the knockout bout and clinched a bronze medal, becoming the first Indian female wrestler to win a medal at the Olympics. Weightlifter Karnam Malleshwari (2000, Sydney), boxer MC Mary Kom (2012, London) and shuttler Saina Nehwal (2012, London) were the only other women athletes from India to have won a medal in Olympics.
    Coming from a conservative community where girls are restricted to household chores, Malik fought against all odds to achieve the impossible. And her performance became the inspiration for the other budding talents across the country.

    Just like other sports in the country, Indian women's cricket team is also struggling to break away from the shadows of the men's cricket side. But, one female cricketer has carved her own niche to steal the spotlight this year.
    Harmanpreet Kaur, India's T20 captain, has been sensational this year. The 27-year-old became the first Indian women's cricketer to be signed by an overseas T20 franchise. She smashed a blistering 28-ball 47 for Sydney Thunder on her WBBL debut and then followed it up with an all-round performance of 4-27 and 21-ball 30 to help Sydney seal an eight-wicket win over Melbourne Stars.

    The battle in the face of adversity is a romantic metaphor for the struggles women go through in every sphere of life in India. And, Dipa Karmakar's story is no different.
    The 23-year-old from Agartala, who was the first woman gymnast form India to qualify for the Olympics, didn't win a medal, but ranked an impressive fourth position in the women's vault finals at Rio Olympics in August this year.
    She received a final score of 15.066 for executing the Produnova vault - one of the most dangerous feats in gymnastics. Karmakar missed out on the bronze medal by a mere 0.15 points. The girl from Tripura might have missed out on an Olympic medal, but she won millions of hearts not just back home, but also across the globe.

    The last 12 months also saw the 18-year-old golfer Aditi Ashok rewrite history books in her rookie year. It was a massively successful year for Aditi Ashok. The teen golfer turned professional on 1 January and by August, she had made it to the Rio Olympics as India's lone female golfer.
    She was tied 7th after the second round of the women's individual event, but eventually finished 41st. Despite losing the plot in the later stages, Aditi's gritty performance helped draw a lot of eyeballs to Indian golf.
    The Bengaluru golfer won her maiden title after clinching the Indian Open in November. In the process, Aditi scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman to win a Ladies European Tour title. In December, she ended the season tied third in the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters and secured the Rookie of the Year honours on the Ladies European Tour.

    India's ever-improving women's hockey team made the country proud by making it to the Olympics after a long-hiatus of 36 years. Under the able guidance of coach Neil Hawgood, the Indian team locked horns with some of the best in the business. For a team that was crippled by the lack of international exposure, the Indian women's team didn't even win a single game in Rio.
    But, the women came back a more confident side, while their growth and evolution eventually lead them to their maiden Asian Champions Trophy title in November. The Indian team stunned the Chinese side 2-1 in the final with a last-gasp goal coming from Deepika Thakur via a penalty corner.
    They might not have won a lot of trophies this year, but 2016 was arguably a crucial year for Indian women's hockey team.

    ‘Umakara Ramen’ which is a restaurant in Tokyo, Japan, has a challenge called the “mega serving” challenge. The challenge includes finishing a massive bowl of Ramen. If you finish the bowl in under 20 minutes, the restaurant will award you 50,000 Yen which is approximately INR 28,000. Yes! You heard that right! Also, if you finish it under 30 minutes you can still win 30,000 Yen (INR 17,000 approx).
    But behold, the size of this bowl is more than 3 servings put together and we weren’t kidding when we said that the serving is massive. Here are pictures of the bowl beside an iPhone 6S to showcase its size:

    All of you who love to drop ‘not anymore’s on discussions about sexism in India, here’s something especially for you. Sona Mohapatra just wrote an open letter addressed to IIT Bombay and the reason, like you may (should) have guessed already is, SEXISM.

    Here goes the story. Sona Mohapatra was invited to perform at Mood Indigo, a fest by IIT Bombay. Only, there was condition. A ‘non-negotiable condition’. She had to have a male artist by her side if she were to perform. Even though they didn’t say it, it was obvious how the only women who had ever performed at their fests were either accompanied by a man or were signed up for unpaid gigs. One of the most talented female musicians in the country today was told she needed a man to perform. Think she didn’t need to be tell the world about it? Well, she did. She really did. Because it was much deeper rooted in the system than it seems. Gender inequality needs to be spoken about at each and every instance, no matter how small it may be.

    Give this letter a read because its an important perspective on sexism that’s still very much prevalent in our country, especially in one of the most esteemed and beloved institutions!

    IIT Bombay,
    You claim that you are Asia’s ‘biggest’ cultural fiesta & take pride in being a premier institute of highest learning in the world too. I LAUGH at that claim & call you out straight up on this date for actually being a cess-pool of mediocrity instead.
    All the mathematical equations in the world will not be able to teach you the equation of fairness. All the ‘balancing’ of equations count for nothing if you do not seek a balanced world. All the formulae in the world will not teach you the idea of making a true difference in the world & all the sponsorship, hype, marketing & branding of the world will not cover up the fact that you are a training ground for the worst kind of ‘boys clubs’ that create an imbalance in the world!!
    What cultural festival has for decades showcased only men headliners on their stage, be it music, literature, politics, comedy or ANY other domain????? Yours, Mood I.
    ‘Most’ college campuses in India, esp the premiere institutes of course, follow suit & ‘copy-paste’ this disgusting blueprint of yours. Don’t believe me? Please do check out the archives of the line ups you have showcased year after year & start by scrolling down your own current FB festival page today.
    You have good company in festivals like NH7 & other big music festivals in such discriminatory practices, so take heart (one Anoushka Grammy Shankar doesn’t change the obvious, yo boys!)

    So yes, your ‘boys clubs’ are quite a ‘brother-hood’ outside of the campuses too! Everyone passing out into the real world has been taught these lessons well in their colleges apparently.
    The only few human’s of my gender who have landed up ‘performing’ in this ‘cultural’ festival are either ‘not paid’ or could, only under the umbrella of another man or in a ‘troupe’ of some kind.
    That you don’t even see the blatant sexism that your institute & festival is propagating is sickening.
    For three years in a row I’ve been getting calls from your Mood-I committee members for a concert in your festival but the invite always comes with a caveat. A BIG caveat. A non negotiable caveat.
    A ‘MAN’ needs to be clubbed in on the marquee to validate my stage, a paid stage in particular. A SOLO FEMALE headliner? Want to be paid a price? Just not possible. The ‘men’ have homes to support, we women just ‘work’ for ‘fun’!
    Don’t believe me? Go through your festival line-ups year after year, decade after decade & you will see this clear as day. You are people with a scientific temper who understand statistics & the like? You’ll see the SAD truth slap you on the face. It’s boys, boys & only more boys. The payment part is not so obvious & for now you will all just have to take my word for it. ??
    Does it effect me personally? Am I shedding tears of sadness about missing this great opportunity to entertain & blow your minds with my act? NO, not really. I’ve carved out my career path successfully despite the odds & am playing a lot of solo headlining gigs with my band SonaLive, 11 concerts in the last fortnight alone. No colleges except the ‘ladies only campuses’, as usual.
    Why even write this letter then? Well, it is gut wrenching & it takes effort & all the love in my heart for my country to do so. That the premiere educational institutes of the country are blindly propagating such values while the government is putting a spotlight on the plight of the ‘Beti’s’ in the country in their public campaigns in 2016 is ironical. You ought to be leading the way in my not so humble opinion not just counting on the government for everything. You have no business being in the business of education using this country’s tax-payers money when you do not pursue its constitutional ideals. That your students are supposedly the top ‘intellect’ of our country & are being groomed to be in the top echelons of our country’s future scares me.

    I was advised by my well wishers to refrain from posting this letter. ‘Why come across as a trouble maker when things are going so well for you’, they said. Will only bring on negativity & harm your current touring & work. Truth is, very few people have the stomach to digest ugly truths, let alone tell them. Life here is tough as it is?
    I am proud of the fact that I do not add ‘glamour’ in other music directors ‘troupes’, get any work from them whatsoever & have yet lasted out & am playing 2-3 hour uncompromising concert sets in the biggest stages of the country. I am the most proud of the fact that my audience & fans love me for my own music & for being myself. My work with Ram Sampath is basis an equal work partnership where both of us contribute to a project, 50/50. Nothing more, nothing less. No favours given or taken. Only mutual respect. I have a young band of amazing musicians, all men at this point & all of whom have no issues backing a female solo artiste. In fact, they are unaware of my gender I believe. They tell me when I’m great on stage & are equally okay telling me if I’ve had an off day. I have a life partner who shares the same value & belief system & is unstintingly committed to the cause of equality of all kinds in society.
    These are MEN amongst MEN.
    So all in all, life’s great but I do dream & work for a future where we are ALL conscious about fighting for the right thing. Whenever anyone makes me feel like a second-class citizen in my own country, I will call you out. I urge you all to do the same. Everytime you forget that I am indeed equal, I will call you out. I urge the rest of you to do the same. I am asking for all my opportunities basis hard work, merit & talent. I am no privileged Birla daughter cutting the line & lip-syncing a ‘plus one’ song on a global festival stage. My journey has been long, hard, tough but satisfying & rewarding. A big part of the reward is that I have an audience that listens to me even when I am not singing. They hear me, understand me & give me the strength to stand up & speak my mind everyday.

If this letter even changes 5% of the gender mix on stage in the coming days, I’ll consider my time well spent, although my gender actually constitutes close to 50% of the population. If it doesn’t, I’ll keep working towards doing so in ANY case.

    Leslie Binns, 42, a British ex-armyman was on his way to reach the summit of Mt. Everest, when he spotted a fellow mountaineer in need of help. Binns was only 500 metres away from the summit when he heard the screams for help. 
    It was Sunita Hazra, an Indian mother who was attempting to climb Everest. Her oxygen cylinder had been exhausted. Leslie Binns decided to abandon his mission and dream of scaling Everest to save a life instead.

    They met another climber on their way down but couldn’t save him. Talking to BBC, Binns said, 'I truly regret not being able to do anything more for him. But I had nothing left in me that night and I tried my level best to rescue him but he could not be moved.’

    About the rescue, he told BBC he spotted Ms Hazra near an area named ‘The Balcony’; she was sliding down the fixed climbing lines screaming in horror. He managed to stop her, after which she tried to make the descent again but collapsed after a few metres. "It was at this point I decided to cancel my summit bid to help Sunita […] I climbed down to her and called my Sherpa. I told him we are not going up and we would give Sunita my spare oxygen bottle and take her down," Binns said.

    The brave ex-soldier served 13 years in the army in areas including Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan. An explosion in Afghanistan left him blinded in one eye. He is the recipient of two medals, including the Queen’s Commendation for Bravery. 
    ‘I am immensely proud that I helped Sunita. I just wish I could have done more […] No summit is worth a life,’ the man said.

    Yes, we know a lot can be said about people who take selfies. We know all your arguments and we know that you still can’t stop taking them. However, one cannot ignore the fact that phone companies have been investing a lot of time and money in the front-facing camera. The Vivo V5 is one of those phones which sports a 20 megapixel front facing camera for people like you and me who are obsessed with taking selfies. There are only a few selfie-centric phones that exist in the market today and after we tested them all out, we concluded that the Vivo V5 gave us some truly mind-blowing results. 
    It is quite apparent that the highlight of the phone is its selfie camera. The front-facing camera has an aperture of f/2.0, which is probably more than any phone's primary camera, let alone the front-facing camera. It is equipped with the Sony IMX 376 1/2.78-inch sensor that made it possible to take selfies with extremely accurate colours and it also does not overexpose the image like many other phones tend to do. 
    So we took the phone out for a test in the office and you can clearly see the difference between pictures that we took with the Vivo V5 and a different smartphone, which is known to take good selfies as well. I handed the phone to my colleagues just to see their reactions and almost everyone agreed that the Vivo V5 produced better pictures.

    Once we were satisfied with the phone’s capabilities to take good pictures in well-lit environments, we decided to use take phone on a night out. We went to a bar, which was not really well-lit, and we end up taking some horrible pictures in general. Most we wished we could delete not only from the phone but also our memories. The Vivo V5 comes with a new feature that made our selfies stand out when we compared it to pictures taken from a different phone though.

    The new feature dubbed, ‘Moonlight Mode’ is basically an LED that is installed right beside the selfie camera, which emits a soft white glow and acts a light source.

    This LED illuminated our faces since our environment was very dark, due to the dim lighting. Here are a few examples that show what the Vivo V5 selfie camera is truly capable of.

    You can see the Moonlight Feature in action here. The difference in the brightness and exposure is quite obvious. Don’t forget, this was taken in a very dimly-lit atmosphere. The beauty mode in the front facing camera also gives you sharper images, which is very hard to achieve in low-light conditions.

    These are the actual colours that were captured during a selfie spree at a wedding. The other smartphone could not even stabilize the image let alone reflect correct colours.

    Jayalalithaa’s condition after being admitted to the Apollo hospital in Chennai was a closely guarded secret. A leaked email though has sprung many conspiracy theories into action and could have wide-ranging ramifications.
    The email reads that Jayalalithaa was on wrong medication for diabetes before arriving at the hospital and that she was being kept alive through support systems to make time for preparations for the eventual death.

    Take a look at this scorecard of a CSA cricket week girl’s Under-19s tournament where Shania-Lee Swart was the only player from her team to score. Yes, you read that right. The Mpumalanga batter scored 160 runs from 86 balls in the allotted 20 overs as eight of her teammates got out on a duck.

    Nine other runs scored in the innings were all extras. Shania-Lee Swart scored 18 fours and 12 sixes in her incredible innings and led her team to a 42-run victory over Easterns in Pretoria. Quite a one-woman team this, wouldn’t you say?

    Okay you’ve got to admit that the ‘Kaabil’ trailer was a major cringefest.
    But it’s not just nasty criticism that Hrithik Roshan’s new film is facing. Even before the release, ‘Kaabil’ is in for some serious trouble.

    American content streaming production company might just sue Sanjay Gupta’s ‘Kaabil’ because, apparently, it seems to be a scene by scene copy of its own original TV series called ‘Daredevil’.
    “Protagonists of both the productions are blind while even the action sequences look the same. The colour schemes are also similar. This has upset Netflix and they will be taking legal action against Rakesh Roshan’s FilmKraft Productions and Sanjay Gupta’s White Feature Films,” a source told Mumbai Mirror on behalf of Netflix.

    The film was already making news for Rakesh Roshan’s allegations against Shah Rukh Khan for releasing his film ‘Raees’ on the same date as ‘Kaabil’. Now, this Netflix controversy is a whole new hurdle. Just FYI, Netflix is currently under a 3-year long contract with Red Chillies Entertainment which is owned by Shah Rukh Khan. Is that coincidence? What do you think?

    Okay, don’t shoot me but I’m going to say this out loud – I kinda like the new ‘Humma Humma’.

    Yeah, I mean Badshah’s rap is unnecessary and Shraddha and Aditya Roy Kapur’s (lack of) chemistry makes them look like cousins dancing at a sleepover but the music ain’t so bad.
    Honestly, I did listen to it more than once. OKAY FINE. PLAYING IT ON LOOP HAS BEEN HAPPENING.
    Certain things are sacred and NEED NOT BE TOUCHED, I understand. Because that’s exactly what I felt when Badshah recreated ‘Kala Chashma’ for ‘Baar Baar Dekho’. But two days later, I was learning the choreography in the bathroom, dancing to it on uninvited weddings and taking antidotes to deal with the obsession.

    Also, the fact that this mix happened under the supervision of the original composer of the original song, A.R. Rahman, also the God of music gives hope. Calm down people. It’s going to grow on you. New Year is just around the corner, most of you haters would be dancing on this same damn song, I know.
    But Twitter clearly doesn’t agree. IT FUCKING HATES THE NEW ‘HUMMA HUMMA’. All my disagreement aside, I’m (not so) low-key loving those tweets. Yeah, I’ve sold my soul to memes and trolls. (Declare me rhyme God, someone?)

    The grapevine is ripe with the news that the makers are coming with a spin-off series titled “How I Met Your Father”. As the name suggests, the premise is going to be similar but the series will tell the tale from the mother’s side, but the star cast won’t be the same. Carter Bay and Craig Thomas will takeover as producers again. Excited much?

    I just hope that this series live up to the expectations as often times than not, when anything exceptional is being reprised, there is a huge risk of screwing up things. Here’s hoping that this one doesn’t make us lactose intolerant and stays ‘Legen-DAIRY’, in the words of Barney Stinson.

As if that wasn’t enough, Amazon has now delivered a package by a drone, just 13 minutes after the order was placed. The order, an Amazon Fire TV Box and a bag of popcorn, was delivered to a customer named Richard B near Cambridge, England.

    Amazon published a video explaining how the fully autonomous delivery was made, without any human pilot.
    The use of drones and autonomous machines is being eyed by companies like Amazon as a great way to not only expand their user base and increase efficiency but to also lower the cost of delivery of small packages. Amazon Prime Air aims at speedy delivery of packages through unmanned aerial vehicles. 
    Drone deliveries have been made by companies like Flirtey and Project Wing in the past, and it remains to be seen how effective the system proves to be, considering the vehicles are unmanned.

    The first ever Mario game for the iPhone has released on the App Store and can play across iOS devices that are currently running iOS 8, iOS9, and iOS 10. Nintendo and Apple have launched this one button 2D platformer where Mario runs automatically through the world and users can tap the screen to make him jump, crush enemies and collect coins.
    The game is available for free on the App store with limited levels and the full game can be unlocked within App purchases. This is what the game looks like to give you a little taste of what to expect.

    Facebook has been copying Snapchat across all their applications and this time they have introduced a new ‘Camera’ feature to their Messenger app. The company’s instant messaging app is now letting people use the camera front and center and they have introduced very familiar features that were once perfected and pioneered by their rival - Snapchat.
    While using the camera, a user can now doodle over pictures/videos and also add stickers, emojis and real-time masks to selfies. Users can even personalise and style selfies with Prisma like filters. Facebook announced that the new update is rolling out today and will be available for both iOS and Android devices.

    This new feature that has been added to Messenger is just another shot at Snapchat and it seems like Facebook is not going to stop anytime soon. As of July 2016, Facebook’s messenger has over 1 billion monthly active users, making it one the most used messaging app in the world. With over 1 billion users, Facebook wants to encourage users to use these new features on their messaging app rather than on rival applications.
    Facebook blatantly copied Snapchat last August as they introduced stories to Instagram and they are also testing a revamped Snapchat style camera for the main Facebook app. It won’t be long before we see every Snapchat feature across all Facebook applications in the near future.

But, I bet most of you didn’t really know that the tea you drink as soon as you wake up in the morning—what you know as Bed Tea—is different from the tea you drink in the afternoon, evening, at a tea party, or towards the end of the day. You didn’t, did you?

    Tea is not as simple as making, pouring and gulping down. If it were that simple, we wouldn’t have morons making colourless tea with no significant taste on the palate. 
    Here’s how you tell the quality of the tea you’re about to buy and then, consume.

    What your tea leaves look like can be a huge give-away about the quality of the tea. Right from the kind of leaf to the size of the grain particle—your tea leaves are the first step to determining the quality of tea. If it’s a leafy tea that you’re buying, opt for one with unbroken leaves. Broken leaves are a sign of machine-harvested tea and tend to be on the bitter side. Unless, you’re a black tea person—in which case, broken leaves are usually deliberate, to achieve a certain flavour—opt for a full-leafed tea. 
    In terms of particles, opt for larger-particled tea as they indicate a higher quality. Keep an eye out for something called fannings. These are the tinier particles that are more like a residue of the larger particles and are usually found in lower-grade teas.

    When you take a handful of tea leaves into the palm of your hand, you are primarily checking for texture of the tea—whether or not it’s smooth, or coarse; or if it’s heavy, or light, or even if it crumbles easily. If it’s green tea,  go for a tea that feels smooth, as opposed to coarse, to the touch. If it’s wet tea leaves, ensure that the leaves feel tender. If the tea crumbles when you touch it, it’s been baked for too long and is of lower quality.

    When picking out tea, you need to consider the dry tea, as well as the wet tea; as they both tend to smell differently. A tea’s fragrance is as important as its taste because they tend to go hand-in-hand. Your dry tea should have a notable scent; if not, it’s not of a good quality. Always choose a green tea which smells fresh, light and soothes your senses. If you’re choosing a fragrant tea, like Jasmine, see that the scent lingers longer.

    The higher the quality of your tea, the brighter its colour. And while different teas have different colour requirements and tones, you should always keep an eye out for the richness in the colour and how bright, defined and deep that colour is. In case of a green tea, go for a blend that is lighter, clearer and slightly on the yellowish side. For a black blend, choose a deep red. Overall, a brighter tea colour means a richer and fuller taste.

    And it all boils down to the taste… literally. What your tea tastes like reveals what your tea quality really is like. On the whole, any tea should taste fresh; awaken your senses instantly and pick you up. At a more detailed level, if it tastes a bit stale, it’s off. Green tea should not be too sharp and should slip down your throat gently, and smoothly. Your black tea should always be fresh and full-bodied to give you a wholesome flavour. Tea usually leaves an aftertaste in your mouth and this aftertaste should let you feel rejuvenated. If there is no aftertaste, or even a sign of it, you need to change your tea. 
    Also, always choose loose tea leaves over tea bags as they give you the original flavour, without being masked.

    If things weren’t difficult post demonetisation and crawling traffic, the Indian government has issued new guidelines that will allows cab services like Ola and Uber to charge up to 3 times the minimum fare in the day and up to 4 times between 12 am to 5 am. Woah, prices were already high during peak hours but post these regulations we hope there aren’t sky-rocketing surge prices.

    The minimum fare will have to be submitted for approval to the state transport departments. In fact, the guidelines will also allow private vehicles to be used as taxis if they pay the required fees and get their permissions online. The price regulation will cover only vehicles that are less than four metres in length. Moreover, all taxis will have to comply with local fuel and other regulatory norms.

    The world famous landmark, Paris’s iconic ‘Eiffel tower’ went dark on Wednesday after 8 P.M. local time. The gesture was made to show solidarity with the people of Aleppo. The Mayor, Anne Hidalgo’s, office stated that it was a “symbolic measure... to call out the international community again on the urgency to act.". The mayor herself said that she decided to make the "gesture of support for the besieged inhabitants of Aleppo."

     A Turkey and Russia-brokered ceasefire deal to bring peace had gone into effect on Tuesday evening. It was supposed to include the evacuation of up to 5,000 people to the neighboring, rebel-held province of Idlib. The attempt, as described by a UN representative was stated to be the "meltdown of humanity".

    Tuesday saw the worst 24 hours of fighting yet in the 'bitter' battle for Aleppo and on Wednesday, the ceasefire resumed. Deaths have been reported on both sides, while some 50,000 civilians -low on food and medical supplies -- were believed to remain inside the small pocket of eastern Aleppo, still under the rebel control.

    The general protocol for an online delivery service is a delivery person coming to your door , giving you the product and taking payment, if not already paid. Except this one delivery turned nasty and gruesome. Nanjunda, a 29 year old Flipkart delivery man was murdered in broad daylight when he reached the customer’s house.

    The reason? The customer, a 22 year old gym trainer who had called for a mobile phone worth 12,000 rupees, did not have the money to pay for it and therefore slit the delivery man’s throat. He later dumped the body in the shaft of the building. A police investigation later revealed that the trainer has asked his father to buy him a phone but was refused. The gym trainer then hatched a plan to get the phone. He gave the gym’s landline number as his own, and when the phone arrived, he tried to snatch it away. He then hit the delivery man’s head with a flower pot.

    The trainer later slit his throat and killed him. “After murdering the victim around 12.45 pm, the accused hid the body inside the gym as he had difficulties in shifting it. At the time of the incident, there was nobody in the gym. When a few customers came for the evening session, Varun sent them back while cooking up a story. Later in the night, after the bank on the first floor and a fruit stall in the basement had shut for the night, Varun shifted the body around 11 pm to the basement. He kept the body in the lift shaft and escaped,” said an officer who was in the investigative team.  He was then caught and this entire incident finally came to light. Good god!

    Ronda Rousey was knocked out in the UFC octagon by Holly Holm in the main event at UFC 193 on November 15, 2015. It couldn’t have been any more embarrassing for Ronda who was tipped to be the favorite after winning twelve consecutive MMA fights which included eleven first round wins. Ronda, who was the first Judo player from the US to win a medal at the Olympics decided to take time off from competitive martial arts. But, the wait has finally ended. 
    Ronda will make a comeback to the Octagon this December in the UFC 207 clash with Amanda Nunes and this video shows exactly why Nunes should be afraid of her.

    Thor C Pedersen has etched out quite a unique plan for himself to travel the world free of cost. According to an interview with Vice (  http://www.vice.com/read/what-its-like-to-see-the-world-for-almost-no-money-by-traveling-on-container-ships ), he revealed how he has been travelling in container ships for almost three years now and has covered 121 countries. He says that container ships can sometimes be a hassle to board but they definitely have many hidden treasures and of course who can forget the most obvious advantage- it costs nothing. 
    He said-“The last one I was onboard there was a sauna and an indoor swimming pool. Sometimes there's WiFi. On one trip, I also saw the Northern Lights, and I saw whales and dolphins. It's quite extraordinary sometimes.”
    But it’s not all fun and games; there are sea storms and rough weather as well. On being asked what his experience was like during rough seas, this is what he had to say-“You're in your bunk, and you try to sleep, but it's almost impossible. One route in the North Atlantic was supposed to be an eight-day voyage, but we ran into some really heavy weather, and I was pretty sure I was going to die. The ship was all over the place, and the waves were crashing on the containers, and the bow, and they had to slow down to 4 knots. You're thrown around if you don't hold onto anything. So I asked, "Is this normal?" And they laughed their asses off. And they looked at me and were like, "Son, this is absolutely nothing." Then I felt calm. "Ok, they say this is nothing. I just need to ride it out." So I spent four days like that”.
    Even though journeys on container ships can be incredibly long, zero-cost travelling is a whole new experience altogether. So, would you be willing to set forth on such an adventure and say goodbye to airplanes?

It could be your neighbour, your relative, your friend. 
    A horrifying video has surfaced that shows a Delhi High Court lawyer ruthlessly beating his daughter. The family belongs to a posh area in Vasant Kunj. The video, that was shot by the other daughter, shows him mercilessly beating his daughter.

    According to his wife, he has tortured and abused her and their two daughters for the past 15 years, the reason being the absence of a son. The wife also said that she had sought help from the police earlier but was given no assistance. The video has now been handed over to the police and a case has been registered, but only after a video evidence was collected which is now going viral. 
    Hundreds of such cases go unreported in our country on a daily basis. And even if reported, the victims often don’t get help because of lack of evidence or callousness of authorities. This case just goes on to prove how domestic violence is not limited to a particular class or region. Even the so-called elite who roam around in expensive cars and dine at fancy restaurants could have an ugly reality like this. It’s time we look at the dirt behind the glitter.
