While approaching a girl or asking her out, sometimes your looks or confidence might fail you, but if there is anyone who will never leave your side and will faithfully watch your back, it is your trusty ‘wingman’. They know the dating game all too well and hence are always ready to help you out. Be it ranting about your likes and dislikes or making you look like a demigod, you can always trust them to save your ass in front of your crush.
Talking about wingmen, it’s not just men who need their help, women too need the assistance of a good ‘wingwoman’ and popular YouTuber Lily Singh aka Superwoman and Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra perfectly explain what it takes to be a good one. For all those wingmen or women out there, you guys will totally relate to this video and will understand how difficult it is to set your friend up with someone, especially when you know your friend is a hopeless romantic with a puppy dog smile.
Also, do not miss the ending of the video, it’s hilarious. Reportedly, Priyanka has collaborated with Superwoman for the first time. When these two international divas are sharing the screen, one can be sure that fireworks aren’t far behind.

Lights, camera, lasers! Yes, we all love watching movies with almost believable yet radically different realities. Science fiction has been one of the best-loved genres of film since the start. We all remember ET don’t we? As time has gone by, and our technologies have progressed, we now have the pleasure of enjoying completely immersive and super realistic realities on screen. Check out these top sci-fi films of 2016 and get ready for blastoff!
    1. Synchronicity:
    © Twitter
Although the budget wasn’t so grand for this film, the ideas and feel of the movie are right there in the forefront of epic sci-fi magic! It’s about a group of friends who create time travel and then start to get paranoid about people trying to steal it from them, wondering if it has already happened. This is a new take on the whole time-bending paradox that surrounds sci-fi films about time travel.
    2. Lazer Team:

    via GIPHY
Another small film that will leave you pleasantly surprised. The film is about a 4 hopeless idiots who are cast into the role of being humanity’s heroes when they discover a piece of alien technology that allows the wearer to become invincible. Basically humans received a message from outer space that is decoded to say that we are not alone, and that the galaxy is a dangerous place. So these 4 men get ready to ‘save the world’ while the viewer enjoys the hilarity that follows.
    3. Arrival:

    via GIPHY
The Arrival is one of the hottest films of the year starring Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner, both giving excellent performances. The film is about a mysterious spacecraft that lands on earth, so a team of specialists, lead by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy), are called upon to investigate and diffuse the situation. Filled with action, suspense and the thrill of an alien invasion, this could possibly be the best sci-fi film of the year!
    4. Independence Day: Resurgence

    via GIPHY
Jeff Goldbloom is back in the sequel to a cult film; Independence Day is a classic favorite amongst sci-fi fans, and after many years of waiting, they brought it back! This time the aliens come down with a vengeance, causing catastrophe at a global scale. Humans have used whatever technology the aliens left behind last time to create advanced weaponry to fight them off, but alas, the aliens are more advanced and just more powerful. So, once again, the fate of the world rests in the hands of a few!
    5. Midnight Special:

    via GIPHY
Bringing back that ‘80’s sci-fi vibe like no tomorrow, with the addition of modern special effects, this film will find a special place in your heart and live in it! It follows a boy with special powers and what his loved ones’ will do for him to get where he needs to get. It’s the kind of movie that doesn’t answer all your questions, yet leaves you strangely satisfied. Cheggit!
    6. The Lobster:

    via GIPHY
Set in a world where single people have 45 days to find true love or else they get turned into an animal of their choice, this film brings to light many of the twisted rules our society imposes upon us in wicked ways. Collin Farrell stars as David, a man whose wife has just left him, and decides to turn his back on his life and escape to an underground sect called “The Loners” who are a group of people who have renounced love completely. To his surprise, he meets someone there who does exactly the opposite of that. This film is a must watch, absolutely satirical, romantic (in it’s own way) and very entertaining, leaving you with enough to think about once the credits start rolling.
A world of adventure awaits you. Now it’s time to dive right in! Turn on that television and get down to watching these awesome sci-fi films!

Ordering food from the menu card or asking the waiter for dish out recommendations is so passé now as KFC China is set to introduce a very atypical method of ordering – facial recognition. Yes, you read it right. If you are planning to travel to China anytime soon and are thinking of visiting a KFC there, the tech-savvy restaurant might give you suggestions on what to eat based on your looks. Well, now that’s some level of technological advancement we are talking about.
    © Wikimedia
Baidu, one of the leading global tech companies, is reportedly partnering with KFC China for this venture and this ‘smart restaurant’ might soon open its doors in Beijing. Customers’ age, gender and facial expressions will be taken into consideration while making suggestions. Baidu’s technology will apparently determine what you want before you can even pose a question, and the installed image recognition hardware will scan the faces of customers and  spit out suggestions based on that.
    © Flickr/Jon Russell
The restaurant also offers augmented reality games via table stickers. According to Baidu, the system will be capable of telling a male customer, possibly in his early 20s, to go for “a set meal of crispy chicken hamburger, roasted chicken wings and coke for lunch.” Similarly, a woman in her 50s would be recommended to try “porridge and soybean milk for breakfast.” Now, this logic is pretty messed up. Why can’t a 20 something eat porridge and drink soybean milk? Also, a 50-year-old could very well have a craving for chicken wings. We really don’t know how this will go down with the customers? However, this tech still at a very nascent stage and apparently the setup has built-in recognition as well. This means, if you are visiting the restaurant again, it might remember what you ordered earlier and recommend food based on that.
    © Twitter
When it comes to technological innovation, Baidu never ceases to impress us. Earlier, it worked with KFC in Shanghai, to create a robot customer service agent who can listen to and recognize orders using a natural language input. We wonder what’s next, a new gadget that eats on your behalf while you stand in queue to pay the bill? Oh wait, there’s already a device like that, it’s called ‘friends’. Jokes apart, this idea is super quirky and only time will tell whether this turns out to be an achievement for them or a mistake that cannot be rectified.

On one hand where we eagerly await Christmas to receive gifts from Santa and celebrate it with friends and family, this North Carolina man has been raising funds for cancer research, since 2011, with musical Christmas lights display outside his house. James Curiazza lost his brother, Dean, to Leukemia in 1967 and after his death, James has been trying to keep his brother’s memories alive by displaying lights on Christmas, a festival that Dean loved. With this over-the-top light display, he is also raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
The display includes larger-than-life versions of Santa Claus, Rudolph and Frosty the Snowman. What’s more, these figures also are animated in synch to Christmas classics throughout the holiday season. James feels he has been successful, since in the past 5 years, over $10,000 have been raised for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. James told People, “The beauty of the LLS is the way they are not only there for the research and development side of it, but a major portion of their cause is for helping the families and patients cope with what they are going through. Something that wasn’t readily available back in Dean’s day.”
Remembering Dean, James feels “He would absolutely love them. I know it and I feel it.” People like James give us hope and we are sure that for LLS, he is no less than Santa Claus.

Last month, Congress vice-president, Rahul Gandhi was on a roll on Twitter after his account got hacked by a group called ‘Legion’. It won’t come as a surprise if he gets more followers because of that. Having said that, Rahul has managed to take social media by storm again, thanks to his poetry. To clear your doubts, it’s not a new profession he is trying. While criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Demonetisation and RBI’s constant flip-flops on depositing money; he referred to a song from one of Amitabh Bachhan’s movies, ‘Namak Halal’. He said, “Ram ram japna, ghareeb ka maal apna.”

    — ANI (@ANI_news) December 23, 2016 What’s more, while talking about the problems that the public are facing, he even shared a couplet attacking Modi and as expected, people didn’t sit quietly after hearing this. Soon, Twitter was compelled to join him in this poetry game and the results are downright hilarious. From 'Chota Bheem' jokes to sarcastic digs at scams, nothing was spared. Grab a bucket of popcorn guys because these tweets are pure gold and just what you need for your daily dose of laughter.

Born in a country obsessed with cricket, Manish was just a toddler when he was handed a bat and a ball by his father. Manish was then unaware of the workings of the game that has captivated the fantasy of millions of Indians and had no inkling that these childhood toys would one day become his constant companions in life. Born in Nainital, Manish took the cricketing world by storm when he smashed 114 runs off 73 deliveries for the Royal Challengers, Bangalore in the 2009 IPL. He flagged off 2016 with an ODI win against Australia. Manish is now getting closer and closer to his dream of becoming a remarkable cricket sensation.
The Beginning As Manish grew up, he always knew that his ultimate dream was to play for the country. Along with Manish, his father also dreamt of his son playing for Team India. To help Manish march forward towards his dream, he took him to the Karnataka Institute of Cricket where legendary cricketer Syed Kirmani coached him. He spent a few years under his guidance, honing his batting skills.
As a kid, Manish didn’t do things that kids his age usually do. While his friends were out playing, he put in extra hours of training with his coach. That’s not all. While he was still studying, his family moved cities, but he decided to stay back just to train with the best. He gave up on family, friends, weekends and vacations, all for the sake of becoming a better batsman. It wasn’t easy but he stayed focused on his end goal.

Life Lessons On The Cricket Field  Manish believes that discipline is the best virtue he picked up from cricket. Eating right, training every day and keeping the mind focused on the game made him the professional that he is today. He says that perseverance and hard work go a long way in helping one realize their dreams, whatever they may be. He credits all the sacrifices he made as a kid in achieving his cricketing dream.
For any athlete, it is imperative to be fit and strong–not just physically but mentally as well. In order to stay true to one’s training and fitness regimes, it is essential to keep oneself motivated. “Self-motivation coupled with hard work will pave the path of success’’, says Manish, who feels that cricket has always shown him the way forward.

The Stories That Stayed With Him The journey of becoming the person he is today hasn’t been an easy one for Manish. He gave it all up to turn his dream into reality. His endless training sessions had literally caused quite a rage at the Karnataka Institute of Cricket. Back in those days, parents of other kids enrolled in the academy would often protest that due to his long practice sessions, their kids felt neglected. While that's how they looked at it, Manish, on the other hand, looked at it as an opportunity to learn more; a learning he implements even today in his career.
His match-winning innings of 104 against Australia in January this year was a result of his unfailing dedication. Playing only his fourth ODI, he kept his calm and did the best he could to help India win its only match in the series. It was the highest-ever run chase against Australia on their home ground. Pandey seized the opportunity to make a mark after having waited long enough for it. He became the first Indian to score a century in the shortest form of the game six years ago.

The Story Behind MP9 For Manish, the number 9 is not just a jersey number or his NikeID, it is the age at which he realized that he wanted to play cricket professionally. While he was handed a bat and ball at the tender age of 3, it was when he was 9 years old that playing for Team India became his only dream. The number holds a special place in his heart to this day, and hence is etched on his custom made NIKEiDs.

There’s nothing that says ‘Tis the season’ like Christmas movies! Come December, my favourite thing to do is veg out in front of the television screen, watching the all-time best Christmas movies to make me feel like Santa is just one house away from climbing down the chimney. What? Don’t look so surprised. It’s Christmas time and so, it’s okay to behave like a loony kid.
So, here’s my list of the best Christmas movies to get you in the spirit of Christmas!
    1. Home Alone
Macaulay Culkin won over the world with his portrayal of the naughty li’l Kevin McCallister who gets left behind at home while his family boards the flight to Paris for the holidays. The movie follows young Kevin as he manages living alone, while fighting off two thieves until Christmas day, when he is reunited with his family.
    Best Scene
      2. Home Alone 2
A sequel of the first movie; this time around, the McCallisters decide to go to Miami for Christmas. Only, Kevin somehow ends up on the flight to New York. And so begins his adventure in the big city around Christmas when he meets the Sticky Bandits, yet again. Similar to the first movie, the sequel follows Kevin’s adventures during Christmas season around New York, until he is reunited with his family. There’s something about getting lost and left alone during Christmas, it would seem.
    Best Scene
      3. Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas
This is one of my favourite Christmas movies, of all the time. Simply because it’s Dr Seuss, and the adorably annoying Grinch, played by Jim Carrey. The plot is similar to the book, with a lot more detail—the Grinch is bitter about Christmas because of childhood memories and decides to steal Christmas from the citizens of Whoville. It’s one of the most lovable movies there are and you don’t need to be a kid, or a sappy nerd to love it!
    Best Scene
      4. The Polar Express
How can you not love this movie—a train journey to the North pole with Tom Hanks playing the role of the ticket collector. It’s not about being a simple animated movie; or about kids. It’s about believing in miracles; in the unseen and knowing that magic does exist in the goodness of belief. Again, you can be grown-assed and still watch this movie.
    Best Scene
      5. Jingle All The Way
Arnold Schwarzenegger wants to buy his son a Turboman for Christmas. That’s pretty much the entire plot line for this one.  But, good humour, good fun and something for all Arnie fans; especially if you were the kinds who wanted to see him in something other than The Terminator.
    Best Scene
      6. Elf
Starring Will Ferell as one of Santa’s beloved elves, the story follows the story of how Ferell learns of his identity as a human elf and decides to embark on a journey to find his biological father—during his travels, he spreads the festive cheer and spirit of love across the town and its people. It’s a fantastical movie and I secretly wish stuff like this would show more often.
    Best Scene
      7. A Christmas Carol
Once again, Jim Carrey playing the role of the shrewd and skeptical Ebenezer Scrooge, from the classic book, by Charles Dickens of the same title. There isn’t much of a difference in the plot line from the book and that’s what makes the movie all the more engaging because the interpretation is just as classic as the book.
    Best Scene
      8. The Santa Clause
Starring Tim Allen, of Home Improvement fame, as the divorced Scott Calvin, the film revolves around Allen and his son, Charlie, who have to finish Santa Claus’ trip of delivering all the gifts, then taking over as Father Christmas and having to convince his family, and everyone he loves about the same. This was Tim’s next collaboration with director Pasquin who worked with him on his hit TV series as well. And while there were two sequels to this film, this one stands out, by far!
    Best Scene

This is the unique story of an 82 year old woman who can safely be called the real life Jon Snow.  40 years ago, she died of a snake bite. Her family performed the last rites and immersed her body in the Ganga. The only problem is that she wasn’t dead. She explained that she wasn’t dead but was unconscious and was rescued by a few boats men. Is that a pure Bollywood tale or what?
    © Facebook
On Friday, she returned to her family and surprised everyone. "My mother said that she had lost her consciousness and her memory. A few days ago, she recalled the incident and narrated it to a girl who discussed the matter with her uncle. The girl's uncle contacted one Chetram (82) who too recalled that he had attended Vilasa's funeral. Later, Chetram contacted us and apprised us of the development," her elder daughter Ram Kumari said.  "We immediately recognised her from a birthmark,” her younger daughter explained. This sounds like a perfect recipe for a K serial. This is definitely one instance where real life imitated art.

Ever wondered what to do when the crew comes over? Watch an epic action movie of course! This year has been jam packed with enough action and adventure film to satisfy even the most rowdy of movie lovers. What better way to pass the time than with a cool 6 pack, your buddies and the right movie playing on screen? Check out this list of best action films of 2016 for an instant fix.
    1. The Magnificent Seven:
We believe this movie was trying to go for that Tarantino feel, and although it doesn’t quite cut it, it has its own charm. As the name might suggest, it is about 7 hired guns out of which most are outlaws, thieves and gambler, just ‘bad’ men of a sort. They are hired by the townspeople of Rose Creek to protect themselves against a zany industrialist who wants to take control of the town. This is a fun twist on the cowboy action films of the 90’s, with a little bit of oomph! With a cast like Denzel, Pratt, and Hawke, it is a must watch.

    via GIPHY
    2. Hardcore Henry:
This one might have slipped under your nose, but it is the very first wholly POV action film and an absolute must watch! You experience this movie as the main character, named Henry, who wakes up with no recollection of his life. His wife wakes him up, and within a few minutes you’re being shot at, the wife has been kidnapped and all hell breaks loose. A whole series of exciting events takes place from then on out, a rollercoaster ride of a movie!

    via GIPHY
    3. The Divergent Series: Allegiant
How cute is Shailene Woodley? We say pretty damn cute, and she does an excellent job in this film as a strong female lead. After the colossal truths ‘Insurgent’ reveals, Tris (Shailene) must leave the city of Chicago by crossing the great wall and find out what mysteries lay beyond. What they find throws everything they know into doubt, and tests her courage, allegiance and love!

    via GIPHY
    4. Criminal:
Don’t we all love a little bit of action-packed-saving-the-world-from-an-international-terrorist film? Well, that’s exactly what you get with ‘Criminal’. The memories and skills of a top notch CIA officer have been transferred into the mind of a dangerous criminal in hopes of putting an end to the plans of an international terrorist. If you are into pure action and thrill, this movie will surely tickle your fancy, especially with the excellent cast of Kevin Costner, Gary Oldman , Tommy Lee Jones, and Ryan Reynolds. Check it out!

    via GIPHY
    5. Marauders:
You can’t get more action packed than a film with Bruce Willis, Dave Bautista, and Christopher Meloni. This movie is about a bank robbery that incriminates its owner (Bruce Willis) and his high-powered clients initially, but as the FBI (Melone, Bautista) investigate deeper, they find that there are larger powers at play over here. They go through a bunch of windows, rain of gunfire, and whole lot of action packed scenes to get to the bottom of it! A must watch for Willis fans.

    via GIPHY
    6. London Has Fallen:
This movie is a sequel to the worldwide hit ’Olympus Has Fallen’. The story follows Gerard Butler who plays a secret service agent that has to stop the murder of the leaders of the western world at the funeral of the British Prime Minister. A group of terrorists are taking the opportunity to target leaders and terminate them, while also destroying most of Britain’s’ landmarks and revealing a horrid vision of what they want the future to be. The President and an English MI-6 agent assist him in saving London, and the world.

    via GIPHY
    7. Jack Reacher: Never Go Back:
No one does action better than good ‘ol Cruise! He returns as Jack Reacher in this sequel only to find that he is being accused of a 16-year old murder and to top it off, he might be the father of a child he has never met. With supporting actors like Cobie Smulders, Danika Yarosh and Robert Knepper, add this one onto the list of must watch or even must re-watch films!

    via GIPHY
    8. Central Intelligence:
If Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson doesn’t scream action, we don’t know what does! Kevin Hart bring the element of absolute hilarity into this gut wrenchingly good film about a former bullied geek, current badass CIA agent who comes home for his high school reunion. Bob (The Rock) claims to be on a top-secret mission and convinces Calvin to help him on it. Calvin used to be “the man” back in high school, but is now droned down by the mundanity of a normal adult life. What follows suit is a hilarious series of dangerous, tricky, and twisty situations. A fun twist on the typical action film, plus the great chemistry between the two leads makes this a must watch!

SRK has a charm that is unmatched and his fan base is spread across borders. The badshah of Bollywood was recently honoured by the students of Malaysia’s management and Science University  who sang his famous track ‘Janam Janam’ from ‘Dilwale’ as a special tribute to him.
Shah Rukh, being the humble human that he is, was touched and even thanked the students for this beautiful gesture. A gentleman as always, Shah Rukh was in fine spirits as the students performed the hit number.

There has been a threefold increase in the number of new 500-rupee notes printed daily at the Currency Note Press (CNP) in Nashik. This was much needed step undertaken to meet the shortage of the newly introduced currency.
"We have enhanced printing of new Rs 500 notes from 3.5 million pieces per day in mid-November to 10 million pieces per day now. We are printing 19 million pieces of currency notes of various denominations on a daily average of which 10 million pieces are of Rs 500 notes, while the remaining currency notes are of Rs 100, Rs 50 and Rs 20 denominations," sources in the CNP told TOI. The Nashik press does not print the new 2000-rupee notes.
    © Twitter
On Friday, the CNP sent its biggest consignment of currency notes after demonetisation was announced. Of the total 43 million notes sent to the RBI on Friday, 11 million were in Rs 500 denomination, 12 million in Rs 100 and 10 million each in Rs 50 and Rs 20 denominations. Post demonetisation, in its first consignment sent to the RBI on November 11, the CNP had sent just 5 million pieces of 500-rupee notes. In the last 43 days, the CNP has sent a total of 828 million pieces of various denominations to RBI's offices in various cities across the country . Of these, 250 million pieces were 500 rupee notes. In the last three days, the CNP dispatched 83 million pieces of currency notes and 37.5 million pieces of these are 500-rupee notes.
The CNP is expects to print another 800 million pieces of currency notes of various denominations by January 31. The new 500-rupee notes will account for half of this number.

There are only four currency note presses in the country. Of these, two belong to the RBI at Mysore in Karnataka and Salboni in Bengal, while the remaining two belong to the Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Ltd at Nashik and Dewas. At CNP , Sundays are no longer holidays, there's no lunch or dinner break, and a work shift stretches to 11 hours.

While the demonetisation drive is driving the country up the wall and we are still struggling to find solace with the decision, here is a piece of news that is receiving major flak from all Indians. As you are reading this, our government is investing a whopping 3600 crore into the construction of a Shivaji statue in Mumbai, the foundation stone of which is being laid by our own PM, Narendra Modi.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is a torchbearer of courage, bravery & good governance. #ShivSmarak is a fitting tribute to him & his greatness.
    — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) December 24, 2016 I am honoured to be getting the opportunity to perform the Bhoomipujan of #ShivSmarak.
    — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) December 24, 2016 © Twitter
The statue will stand tall at 192 feet, and will be twice as tall as the Statue of Liberty and will be built on 16 hectares of land right in the Arabian Sea. However, the issue is not the fact that it is a memorial for the great Maratha ruler. He deserves every ounce of respect from the nation.
    © Twitter
Let me throw light on exactly what is happening here.  Environmentalists have pointed out the fact that the construction will adversely affect marine life and the ecology in and around the area. Secondly, you need to remember the fact that this crazy sum is the taxpayer’s money! How about spending it on infrastructure, education, uplifting our rural sector above all, helping the ones who are dying post the demonetisation drive? The government is earning major backlash because of the divided opinions of the public.
What can you build instead of a giant Shivaji statue?
    Better healthcare facilities at stations.
    Toilets for the city.
    Safer roads.

I'm a big Shivaji Maharaj fan, studied his rule in-depth! A 3600 Cr. statue is a crime in the name of a true people's king! #StopTheStatue

Ever since the incidents of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 exploding surfaced, various airlines have been highly cautious and banned passengers from bringing the device onboard. However, despite strict checking at the airport, a Virgin America flight was delayed because the said phone’s name popped up on the Wi-Fi hotspot list. How did the passenger manage to get the phone onboard? Well, turns out a prankster changed his hotspot to “Galaxy Note 7_1097” which freaked the fellow passengers and the crew out by giving an impression that the phone is being actively used on the flight.
Open my laptop on the plane and notice a Galaxy Note 7 wifi hotspot https://t.co/y1csn9gOsZ pic.twitter.com/9Z5IJULuPs
    — Lucas Wojciechowski (@lucaswoj) December 20, 2016 This incident resulted in several important announcements from the crew asking the concerned person to come forward, even the captain warned about diverting the flight and landing in Wyoming for an emergency search. Although people might find this prank funny, this was highly irresponsible of the person and such things can create emergency situation and panic among other passengers.

“I can’t speak for the accuracy of his transcriptions, but it certainly sounds like the crew wasn’t happy,” said Lucas Wojciechowski, one of the passengers on the flight. Reportedly, the captain of the flight announced, “This is the captain speaking. Apparently the plane is going to have to be diverted and searched if nobody fesses up soon.” The crew further announced, “This isn’t a joke. We’re going to turn on the lights (it’s 11 PM) and search everyone’s bag until we find it.”
In short x2: Don't bring a Note 7 on a plane or you will piss everyone off. And don't rename your SSID unless you want to chat with the TSA.
    — Serenity Caldwell (@settern) December 20, 2016 The Galaxy Note 7 is said to be officially barred from flights by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), so carrying it can be considered a crime with serious repercussions. Eventually, the concerned person confessed, but his prank resulted in an inconvenience for a lot of people as the flight arrived late in Boston.  The flight crew later announced, “Ladies and gentlemen, we found the device. Luckily only the name of the device was changed to ‘Galaxy Note 7’. It was not a GN7.” There’s nothing wrong in playing pranks on people but not during a f**king flight, guys!

A recent review of studies found that people have a hard time sticking with a fitness routine because they’re afraid of it—whether it’s tricky exercises, complicated gym equipment, or daunting distances. In truth, there’s nothing to fear. But we’re all human. Here’s how to banish imagined fitness monsters, so you can find workouts you love, and make your routine stick.
Find Your Fun Life is short—too short to waste doing anything you don’t love or at least like. Fitness isn’t always easy, but there should be some qualities about your workout you find redeeming. Maybe you love how you feel after a good sweat session. Maybe you love playing tennis, and swimming. Whatever it is that lights even the smallest of sparks within you—do it! It will be easier to stick with something you love.
Shift Your Perspective Even pro athletes can get a case of the nerves. Sometimes it helps to shift your perspective. According to champion runner and Fitbit ambassador Sara Hall, grounding yourself in your identity can help calm even earthquake-sized jitters. That means remembering you are not your workouts. You are you!
Hall also suggests remembering the joy in and around the activity you’ve chosen. Most people feel good after a workout. Remembering why you came—as well as the joy you feel post-workout (or even, hopefully, during your workout or activity) can help you push through even the toughest of sweat sessions.
Ask for Help Like stopping for driving directions during those pre-GPS days, there’s nothing shameful about asking for a little help. Many gyms offer at least one free personal training session or consultation, creating a perfect opportunity to ask a trainer how to do some basic exercises, or show you how to use key machines.
Try a Class Fitness classes are an excellent way to learn new moves and stay motivated. Everyone involved is in the same boat, charting the fitness waters. Research shows that creating a social network around fitness, or at least buddying up, can help keep you feeling motivated.
If you’re nervous about your technique, find a spot somewhere in the middle of the room. You won’t have first-row pressure, but you’ll still be visible to the teacher, who can provide you with form tips.
Exercise at Home For those who really like the quiet and solace of being home alone, it’s easy to get a complete, total-body workout in your own space. You can perform bodyweight moves like push-ups, planks, squats, and lunges, and even add resistance by using a band or filling some water bottles.
There’s also FitStar, which offers do-anywhere dynamic video workouts and yoga sessions you can choose from. You can also head outside for a walk or run, and rack up some steps.
Wear a Fitbit Tracker Research has shown that wearing a tracker can potentially bump up your exercise time. Keeping an eye on your workouts over time allows you to see your progress, which can be incredibly motivating, spurring you on to do more. Trackers also make it easy to see your day-to-day activity, and help keep you accountable toward reaching your goals. For example, do you have a 5,000-step daily goal, and it’s 8 PM with 400 steps to go? Spend 15 minutes tidying up your house and poof: goal met.
Distract Yourself Multiple studies show that distracting yourself during exercise can help you feel better during and after your workouts. (That means, it can be easier for you to exercise longer, or harder, to get more results.)
Create playlists that pump you up, or head outside to take in nature. Research has shown that getting out into greenery can help reduce feelings of anxiety. It’s also a great place to get your steps in.

A research report by the University of Copenhagen showed that quitting Facebook for a week can help boost emotional well being and promote life satisfaction. According to the study, the effects are more prominent among people who ‘lurk’ on the social networking site without being active on it as compared to people who actively engage.
    © Twitter
The study shows that effects were prominent even among heavy users and users who envied their facebook friends. It also said that people who react irritably to others posts may benefit the most.
Report author Morten Tromholt, from the University’s Sociology department, said the findings suggested that changes in reducing their time spent on Facebook could yield positive results. It also showed that lurkers could see positive changes by engaging actively.
    © Twitter
The author also indicated that people find it extremely difficult to cut themselves off as 13% of research participants admitted to using social media during their break. The study involved 1,095 people, 86% of whom were women and was also published in journal ‘Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking’.
    © Twitter
The research participants involved, were divided into two groups- one which used facebook as normal and one which stopped using the social network for a week. The average age of participants was 35, and had 350 friends Facebook friends and spent over an hour on social network.
    © Twitter
Questionnaires were conducted at the beginning and end of the week and the report suggested that taking a break from the site increased life satisfaction and positive emotions. The effect was found to be greater among heavy users as well as passive users.
The author, Tromholt said “To make things clear, if one is a heavy Facebook user, one should use Facebook less to increase one’s well-being. And if one tends to feel envy when on Facebook, one should avoid browsing the sections (or specific friends) on Facebook causing this envy. And if one uses Facebook passively, one should reduce this kind of behavior. Due to habits, practicalities … it may be difficult to change one’s way of using Facebook. If this is the case, one should consider quitting Facebook for good.”
Brenda Wiederhold, editor-in-chief of Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking, said: “This study found that ‘lurking’ on Facebook may cause negative emotions. However, on the bright side … previous studies have shown actively connecting with close friends, whether in real life or on Facebook, may actually increase one’s sense of wellbeing.”

Whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure—the journey can sometimes feel a little rough. Sitting for hours can make you achy, and any stress from potential flight delays or traffic jams can make you feel even less like your prime self. The next best thing to having a masseuse on call? Whipping out a few yoga poses wherever you might be. “Sitting can stiffen muscles and joints, creating discomfort, and yoga helps unwind all of that,” says San Francisco-based yoga instructor Diana Oppenheim. “Yoga can also help keep you calm and at ease, and travel is always more fun when you can go with the flow.”
Oppenheim suggests performing these five poses whenever you start to feel stiff, or once every hour if your location allows. Pick and choose depending on your needs. You can do them almost anywhere, whether you’re rambling down a country road or flying 20,000 feet in the air.
Ragdoll Pose Centers your mind and releases your lower back, which can become tense after hours of sitting.
Stand with your feet hip-width apart and fold forward. Bend your knees as much as you need, so your belly easily rests on your thighs. Hold your elbows, and let the weight of your head and arms gently stretch your spine. Hold for 30 to 60 seconds.
Seated Pigeon Stretches your glutes and the external rotator muscles of the hip, which can all get tight during long periods of sitting.
While seated (in a car, train, or plane), place your right ankle on your left knee. Keep your right foot flexed to help protect the right knee. Shift forward slightly, so that your weight is on the front edge of your sit bones, and keep your back long and chest lifted. Hold for 30 to 60 seconds, and repeat on the other side.
Half-Gomukasana Arms Travel (and sitting) can lead to slouching and sore upper-back and shoulder muscles. (Lugging bags around can do the same.) This stretch helps those muscles release.
While seated, raise your right arm up, and from your shoulder, turn your palm to face behind you. Bend your elbow so your hand travels down the back of your neck, drawing your elbow straight up toward the ceiling. Next, grab your right elbow with your left hand to gently further the stretch. Breathe deeply into your upper chest and shoulder area for 30 to 60 seconds before switching sides.
Warrior 1 Helps stretch your psoas (the deep muscle that runs from your spine to your hips), hips, abs, and even your shoulders, by opening the front side of your body to help counteract the effects of sitting.
Stand and step your right leg 3 to 4 feet forward, and turn your left foot out about 45 degrees. Pull your abs in toward your spine, and bend your right knee to 90 degrees. Lift both arms up overhead. Be sure to keep your back leg muscles engaged, to help evenly distribute your weight. Breathe for 5 counts and repeat on the opposite side.

Childcare leave is usually associated with mothers in the workforce but in a profound step taken by Deutsche bank, even Dads now have the option to take childcare leave. After January 1st, the bank will offer a maternity leave of the same time period i.e. 6 months if in case they are the primary caretakers of the house.
    © Pixabay
The internal note circulated among the Deutsche Bank employees stated- "The new parental leave policy centers on the caregiver's responsibility, rather than tie parental leave to gender, and replaces what was previously called maternity/paternity leave. It also covers surrogacy and adoption and aligns it with parental leave entitlements. Deutsche Bank employees who are new parents can choose to either be the primary caregiver or the non-primary caregiver within the duration of the parental leave."
    © Pixabay
It is assumed by default that woman are always the primary caretakers of the house and so most work places ignore the fact that we live in a progressive society and now even men are partaking in childcare responsibilities.
    © Pixabay
Madhavi Lall, head, human resources, Deutsche Bank India, said: "The new policy will fight several unconscious biases that are prevalent in society. If a male employee happens to be the primary caregiver, he can now give a self-declaration and avail up to six months of parental leave. If an employee's wife is required to return to work in three months after childbirth and the husband (a DB employee) becomes the primary caregiver for the child, he can avail of the new parental leave benefits."
Looks like we’re truly moving forward as a society.

If you have tried every internet connection that exists in your area, changed cities and ISPs but the speed still remains an issue, then it’s not you who is jinxed, but the internet in the country is flawed. As per the latest records, India’s cyber stability is pretty meek. Our country ranks at 96th in terms of downloading speed in the world, and in terms of bandwidth availability, we are at a sad 105. Can you imagine that? In one of the biggest tech industries in the world, the internet isn’t up to speed (pun intended).
    © Wikimedia
At a time when we’re aiming to go cashless, how do you expect the nation to function if the internet connectivity is pathetic? The shocker is that we are behind Nepal and Bangladesh, in terms of internet speed. Talking about cyber crime, India is ranked at number 6. South Korea, China, Malaysia, Sri Lanka are far more advanced in terms of bandwidth efficiency. What a sad state to be in!
If you truly want to test a man’s patience, let him browse the net with a slow connection.

There’s no messing with a mother. Eighteen-year-old Abeera Tariq recently learnt it the hard way. The teenager from Maryland attended her cousin's wedding along with her family and obviously, they took a lot of pictures.

Among the hundreds of pictures they took, Abeera decided to share a few on Facebook. Since somehow she didn't have any picture only with her brothers, she decided to crop her mother out from one of them, as she wanted to share a picture of herself with her brothers.

All hell broke lose when their mother saw the picture on Facebook and realised that her dear children had cropped her out. What followed is what we all are very much familiar with. The mother went on a rant and immediately messaged her daughter asking for an explanation.

The year 2016 couldn't have ended in a better way for India as they inflicted a 4-0 whitewash on England. The series was thoroughly dominated by the home side, who were arguably better than their counterparts in almost all the aspects of the game.
The bowlers stepped up to the task, while the batsmen adequately complimented them with a fine showing for India. Amid multiple moments of excellence, there were some instances that stood out in the five-match series.
As Team India gears up to carry the momentum in the ODI series against England next month, here's a look at some of the memorable moments from the recently-concluded Test series.
Shami breaking the stumps © Twitter
For a bowler, there's nothing like watching the stumps go cart wheeling on a fine delivery. But, when you break the stumps after beating the opposition batsman, the feeling is surely beyond words. And that's exactly what Mohammad Shami did to England skipper Alastair Cook.
After India was bowled out for 455 runs in the first innings of the second Test at Vizag, Shami produced a memorable moment for the home fans. The right-arm speedster got Cook to leave two away going deliveries before bowling an in-swinger that didn't just breach Cook's defence but rattled the off-stump so hard that it broke in two pieces.

    — vishal bhagat (@vbhagat123) November 18, 2016 While Cook is always a big fish for the opposition, it was the manner in which he got out that resulted in rapturous joy in the Indian camp.
Kohli shuts Stokes up © Twitter
Not one to hold back his emotions, Virat Kohli was involved in a verbal spat with England all-rounder Ben Stokes on the opening day of the third Test in Mohali. After being stumped by Parthiv Patel, Stokes was on his way to the pavilion when the incident occurred.
Though it was difficult to understand what was being said by the two players, the fact that it eventually needed intervention from umpire Marais Erasmus goes on to show that wasn't a pleasant one. Stokes was later reprimanded by the ICC for using offensive language.

    — VK Bot (@ViratRTBot) December 20, 2016 But, Stokes got his chance to respond against the Indian batting sensation. After Kohli was dismissed by Stokes in India's first innings, the England talisman immediately put his hand over his mouth in a gesture directly aimed at his spat with the Delhi lad the day before.
However, it was the Indian Test captain who had the last laugh. The third day's play brought an embarrassing moment for Stokes, as he was trapped lbw by Ravichandran Ashwin in the final session. As the left-hander trudged past a jubilant Kohli, the Indian skipper put both fingers to his lips to replicate Stokes' gesture. The difference was that only one of them knew they'd be tasting victory come the end of the third Test.
    Ashwin-Anderson exchange © BCCL
Despite Virat Kohli's sublime form in the series, James Anderson committed the silly mistake of attacking the Indian Test captain and questioning his technique during the fourth Test. In an oddly ungracious assessment, the England seamer said: "I'm not sure he's changed. I just think any technical deficiencies he's got aren't in play out here. The wickets just take that out of the equation."
Anderson's comments attracted a lot of flak from fans and the cricket pundits alike. And, Ravichandran Ashwin felt no different as he welcomed Anderson at the crease with a few words on the final day of the fourth Test in Mumbai. Soon, Ashwin dismissed Anderson and the two were once again involved in a verbal exchange while walking off the field.

According to Kohli, who spoke at the post-match conference, "Ashwin was not pleased with whatever he (Anderson) said something in the press. Ashwin told me on the ground. I had no clue about it. I did not know what to make of it. I was laughing about it but Ashwin wasn't too impressed. He (Ashwin) let him (Anderson) know, not using any bad words, honestly."
Karun Nair's triple hundred © BCCL
With India sealing the series 3-0 in the fourth Test, not much was expected from the inconsequential fifth and final match in Chennai. But, who knew that the dead rubber would witness one of the most memorable knocks by a budding Indian cricketer.
Playing only in his third Test, Karun Nair notched up a blistering triple hundred and stole the spotlight from India's proven and more popular stars. After Virender Sehwag, the 25-year-old became only the second Indian batsman to slam a triple ton in Test matches.

In the process, Nair also became the third player in Test history, and the first Indian, to turn his maiden hundred into a triple century.

If Karun Nair dictated terms with the bat, Indian spinner Ravindra Jadeja equally complimented him with the ball. The left-arm spinner demolished the England batting-order and notched up his maiden 10-wicket haul in Test cricket.
After taking just three wickets in the first innings, Jadeja stepped up his game and bamboozled the opposition batsmen to claim seven scalps in the second innings. In his spell of 25 overs, the Saurashtra cricketer recorded impressive figures of 7-48 runs with an economy of under 2.

If you’re new to running (maybe you mainly walk to get your steps in), or even just new to the idea of racing—and would like to enjoy the satisfaction of running a marathon—the following 20-week plan will help you go from scratch to crossing the finish line!
The beauty of this plan is that it doesn’t involve training with specific goal times in mind. Instead, your goal will simply be to feel good and enjoy running your first marathon!
Before you start, it’s important for you to be able to run or walk two to three miles in one workout session. This is the base level of fitness you’ll be building from, so if you are unable to walk or run two to three miles, gradually increase your distances before beginning this plan.
This plan also involves checking your heart rate to make sure you will be training in the proper cardio zones. Wear a Fitbit Surge, Fitbit Charge 2, or Fitbit Blaze if you have one, as your tracker will come in handy.
The first week is an easy one. You won’t find any hard running in Week 1. But you will want to wear your PurePulse heart-rate-enabled Fitbit tracker so you can see your heart rate when you’re running at an easy pace. This number will serve as your baseline heart rate for the rest of the plan.
Some terms you’ll see in the plan:
Run/Walk: This should be a comfortable pace. It’s OK to walk when you need to catch your breath and get back into a comfortable zone.
Fartlek: Sounds silly, but this word means “speed play” in Swedish. You will use Fartleks to change your heart-rate zones, for more effective training. Pushing yourself to run faster sometimes will help make your easy runs feel even easier.
Tempo: A tempo is simply a run performed at a higher heart rate than you’d have during an easy run.
Long Runs: These are meant to be performed at a comfortable pace with which you can cover longer distances. Long and slow is the idea here.

What’s buried or roams deep down in the ocean is something that always fascinates us as researchers and fishermen risk their lives to go down there and find out what sorts of ruins are hidden. Mind you, not every discovery is a sunken ship or some ancient city. Sometimes, these findings can go beyond our expectations (for these, even bizarre is an understatement).
Every time we watch any sci-fi or fantasy movies, the moment aliens appear on screen we say to ourselves, “Holy f**k, this shit can’t be real.” But we bet after watching these creatures, you’ll start believing in those aliens too. Roman Fedortsov, a Russian fisherman based in Murmansk became a Twitter sensation after he posted pictures of some weird creatures that he found underwater. From eight-legged arthropods, frilled shark to chimaeras, his bag includes all sorts of weird catches. The frilled shark is believed to be a living ‘relic’ thanks to its archaic characteristics. Another marvel is the chimaera fish which is known for its wings, fangs and long whip-like tail.
These deep sea creatures can easily pass off as beings from some other world, thanks to their alien like appearances but those exceptional features are what make them stand out from anything on the planet.
So peeps, the next time you visit those beautiful beaches, make sure you know what is lurking under the water.

Making resolutions is easy, sticking to them isn’t. 90% of the people who make resolutions fail miserably. Why? Well because of the reasons mentioned below. Go through them and have a clearer idea about how to stick to your resolutions.
    1)  Set Realistic Goal  It would be highly idiotic if you are currently at 30% or above body fat and plan to get down to a single percent body fat, in just a month or two, naturally. Always set a practical and a realistic fitness goal. Also, you can divide your goal into micro goals that you can chase overtime.
    2)  Have Deadlines Deadline keeps you on track and you often work harder to match the same. A lot of people fail in their fitness resolutions due to lack of a deadline. It actually works as a motivating factor and helps you to work towards your goal. Therefore, set a deadline and work towards it.

    3)  Make Your Resolution Go Public Well, trust me, this works. Some fears can be favorable. Making your resolution public gives you a psychological boost to achieve it. Moreover, declaring your resolution socially, often bounds you to stick to it for a longer run, especially if your circle keeps reminding you or taking updates from you about your progress.
    4)  Visualize And You Are Half There Now, this principle is based on the law of attraction. You need to keep visualizing the new and transformed version of yourself. Stay positive and believe in yourself that you can achieve what you have been imagining. A constant vivid image of your dream body ought to be in your mind and it should motivate you to hit the gym, in order to take you a step closer to it. Don’t just keep dreaming though, you still got to work out!

    5)  Find A Likeminded Partner A likeminded partner with a similar goal can be beneficial to you. However, make sure your partner should be either equal or more dedicated than you. Partnering up with someone who is not serious about his goal can put a negative impact on you as well. Therefore, choose your partner wisely, who could boost you to conquer your fitness resolution.
    6)  Plan A Reward Now this could be optional, but can be useful for many. Plan a reward on your goal accomplishment. It could be a cheat meal or may be cheat day (prefer cheat meal) or may be something materialistic like some apparel or an accessory. We all want rewards, don’t we!
