Earlier if someone found a few thousand extra in their bank accounts, they would have jumped in joy and excitement despite being aware of the technical fault that made them rich. But ever since the currency demonetisation was announced, even those thousands of rupees would scare the shit out of you. So, imagine the condition of people who found crores in their accounts, which was neither theirs nor can they use it.
    © Twitter
Sheetal Singh, a 42-year-old woman who works at a factory in Meerut, took the balance statement of her Jan Dhan bank account on December 18 and was left aghast with what was written on it. Her bank account was credited with nearly Rs. 100 crore, not Rs. 9 crore or Rs. 99 Lakhs, but over Rs. 99 crore! No, she does not have any mysterious benefactor; it’s actually the bank officials who became her personal Santa (thanks to the technical glitch). Earlier a chaiwala in Jaipur was surprised to find over Rs. 4 crore in his account.
    © Twitter
For a woman whose monthly income is Rs. 5,000, we are sure seeing such a huge sum would have driven her crazy and sent her in a state of shock. Sheetal, a resident of Madhavpuram, Meerut got her fair share of fame when she became a billionaire for almost a week. The moment this news spread, the bank officials confirmed that the credited amount is nothing but a technical mistake.
“I had gone to check the balance of my account on December 18 when to my surprise the mini bank statement from the ATM read that my account had Rs. 99,99,99,394,” Sheetal said. “Had it been Rs. 10,000 or Rs. 20,000 credited by mistake, probably I would have been happy but seeing such a large amount scared me and I immediately spoke to my husband about it,” she further added. They approached the bank officials, but did not get any response from them.
    © Twitter
However, recently the bank officials accepted that it was a technical error. Ravikant Singh, Meerut district coordinator, SBI, said, “Sheetal had not submitted her Know Your Customer (KYC) documents due to which her account was put on hold. But while putting her bank account on hold, due to a technical glitch, the available balance showed Rs. 99,99,99,394.” He further added, “The glitch has been corrected now and bank account will be opened for transactions once the KYC documents are submitted. Her bank account now has Rs. 611.”
Sheetal’s husband, Jiledar Singh, later wrote a letter to Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) notifying them of this incident. “I wrote an email to PMO to inform them about the huge amount that has been credited to our account without our knowledge. The account was opened in May this year and we had deposited just Rs. 500 in it. So the huge transaction was obviously a shock,” her husband said. We wonder how our PM would react to this incident.

2016 sucked. So much that I could pay IN CASH for it to end. The best men died, terrorism was at its peak, ‘Game Of Thrones’ was mostly disappointing, the films were a let-down and life felt shittier than ever, in general. Nobody, no-frikkin’-body seemed to have their ducks in a row in 2016. Except for Baba Sehgal, the man who once gave us the 90s classic ‘Aaja Meri Gaadi Mein Baith Ja’ and is now the reason why the term ‘facepalm’ was ever coined. Looking back at 2016, Baba Sehgal really was the ONLY ONE who had his life sorted and we’ve got the proof right here.
    1. Look at him giving zero fucks about people LITERALLY turning their backs on him and walking away.

    2. While the nation was struggling with real problems, here he was looking for a maid.

    3. He wrote an entire song on Rihanna because creepy Twitter shayari was getting way too mainstream.

    4. And had the audacity to ask for a fucking GRAMMY!

I hope someone did, so he took a nice, long break and NEVER returned to the world of music.
    5. He spent the entire year tagging international celebrities in posts more embarrassing than Akshay Kumar’s underwear dance in ‘Suhaag’.

    6. He was the nightmare Pele woke up to.

    7. Indians died of embarrassment but he went on.

    8. And gave Madonna a very legit reason to never visit India.

    9. He helped JLo with this love lesson she will never forget (or understand) for the rest of her life.

    10. People cried tears of blood but he went on to ruin the 90s classic ‘Chura Ke Dil Mera’.

    11. He then imparted this very important life lesson the world REALLY needed.
    har man broke nahi hota
    har ban joke nahi hota
    har can coke nahi hota..
    — Baba Sehgal (@OnlyBabaSehgal) May 1, 2016 12. This time he took exactly 0.00003 seconds to come up with his new tweet.
mumbai ka vada pao - wow wow wow..
    — Baba Sehgal (@OnlyBabaSehgal) May 6, 2016 13. Sometimes he didn’t even care if shit didn’t rhyme

    14. This time he got into a DTC and everybody evacuated but that still didn’t stop him from this shayari
    15. His epic murder of math was even more brutal than the ‘Game Of Thrones’ finale.

    16. And then came the most cringeworthy mention of J.K. Rowling’s entire career.

    17. While the whole world hated on Trump, Baba Sehgal made him the US President with this epic composition.

    18. Then he took his attention seeking behavious to a while new level with zero shame.

    19. The fact that its two thousand fucking sixteen didn’t bother him from committing this crime of uploading a random picture with an unrelated caption.

    20. He gave us this insult that is super cringeworthy at first but you know you’re going to use it on that one friend.

    21. Intolerance might be at its peak but Baba’s Snapchat game was on fleek throughout.
    22. People were fighting over pollution and banning firecrackers and he was dropping these shayari bombs that could erase every trace of mankind without even a hint of an apology.
    23. Then he went on to educate us about frogs and their evolution because that’s exactly what the world needed in 2016.
    24. This completely normal post that had us doubting seriously that his account was hacked
    25. He celebrated 2 million people going blind and deaf.

    26. While the nation struggled with getting their 500 -1000 exchanged Baba was the most chill human in the country. He made a new fucking track .

    27. This time he was the annoying Phoophaji from the family WhatsApp group who actually expects you to laugh at total bullshit.
    28. Family planning advice was obviously inevitable.

    29. Hillary -0, Trump – 0, Hickeys – 1

    30. I mean, there was so much turmoil in the world but all Baba cared about was a plate of Rajma Chawal (that gave everyone else life threatening diarrhea).

Always be yourself, unless you can be Baba Sehgal.

No matter how much you love Ronaldo, there’s a part of you which knows that Messi is always going to be rated above him because of sheer talent that the guy possesses. Leo, even at a young age, looked fluent with the kind of football that he played at La Masia. And therefore, it’s no surprise that this footage of him defeating the entire field at Barca is an amazing watch. He weaves and bobs his way through stunned defenders to score some beautiful goals. This man is truly a legend!

While there were some hard hitting films like ‘Pink’, ‘Parched’, ‘Neerja’ and ‘Dangal’ that struck a chord with the Indian audiences in 2016, the year was mostly a letdown for Indian cinema. And, this trailer is just the hope we needed to look forward to 2017 and the films it has to offer. Director Shlok Sharma just released the trailer of his film ‘Haraamkhor’ and it's beyond excellent.
A story about a quirky love triangle between two school kids and a tutor, the film talks about the kind of love we Indians would never otherwise even acknowledge, let alone celebrate. The film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Shweta Tripathi and going by the fact that it comes from the makers of 'Lunchbox' and 'Gangs Of Wasseypur', we’re really looking forward to it. This one is definitely one of the best trailers we’ve seen this year!

After an unsuccessful outing by New Zealand and England, Australia face a daunting task against the in-form Indian side when they lock horns in the four-match Test series slated to begin from February 2017.
The Steve Smith-led side, who have not won a Test match in India since 2004, will be looking to improve their record in the upcoming tour. In their last 10 Tests, Australia has lost eight games including a shambolic 4-0 whitewash in 2013.
To make matters worse, Australia's Test record in Asia is altogether a different story. The Oz brigade have lost nine consecutive Tests in Asia, including a 2-0 loss to Pakistan in 2014 and a recent 3-0 whitewash at the hands of Sri Lanka earlier this year.
    © Reuters
But that's not all. Smith's men will have to play the perfect game to counter the high-on-confidence Indian brigade which has witnessed a rapid rise at the helm of batting monarch, Virat Kohli.
The Indian Test captain has turned out to be a major thorn for the opposition this year. The Delhi lad has smashed three double hundreds and amassed 1,215 runs at an average of 75.93. And when it comes to Australia, Kohli boasts of 1,276 runs including six hundreds at an average of 60.76.
It's no surprise that Australia, just like New Zealand and England in the past, will be eager to see Kohli’s back as soon as possible. But, in the conditions favourable to Indian players, the task at hand will not be that easy. And that's exactly why Smith has devised a special plan to get the better of Kohli.
    © BCCL
While talking to ABC Grandstand, Smith has suggested that Australia will play on Kohli's patience by getting under his skin in the upcoming Test series. "He is a very emotional character out on the field. I guess for us as a team it's trying to get him out of the strong emotional state and try and make him, I guess, a little bit angry and ruffle his feathers," Smith revealed.
Australians have always been a chirpy side and sledging comes naturally to them. Over the years, the Aussies have made full use of their aggressive verbal volleys to rattle opposition batsmen who tend to lose their concentration and eventually, their wicket too.
But will it work against a new-age batsmen like Kohli? The possibilities are pretty grim.
    © BCCL
Kohli has made a name for wearing his heart on his sleeve. A firm believer in an aggressive brand of cricket, Kohli is a typical modern-day cricketer who doesn't shy away from expressing himself on the field. His fiery approach towards the game had made him subject to ridicule with many questioning his maturity as a cricketer.
But, that's all in the past now. In the past 12 months or so, Indian cricket fans have witnessed a different and more mature side of Kohli. Despite curbing his natural aggressive instincts, the 28-year-old appears more content and in better control.
Kohli is neither overly-animated in his celebration, nor he is perturbed by the chirpy opposition. The right-hander has mastered the art of feeding on aggression and utilising it to his own good. He no longer gets carried away in a heated moment to eventually lose his wicket. What we have today, is a much-improved version of Kohli.
    © BCCL
More importantly, instigating Kohli might come back to haunt Australia. When you give someone like Kohli a real reason to do something,  chances are they'll fight against all odds to do it.
And, the upcoming Test series against Australia will be no different either. Expect Kohli to maintain his poise and reign supreme against the likes of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and the other Australian bowlers.
So, dear Mr Smith, as far as your tactics to get Kohli worked up with the chatter is concerned, we reckon you come up with a more practical plan because our Indian captain is not one to back down from a fight.

Isn’t it ironic that the unhealthiest people fall for the stupidest fitness trends? Well, the answer is simple- the right way is the hard way and most people look for shortcuts. The latest shortcut is the ‘Detox Diet’. Fat people proudly chew on salads and vegetables for months and ‘think’ that they are losing fat. Couple this with prolonged running on the treadmill and now the fat man is a skinny fat man. The obsession with rapid fat loss has made the Detox Diet industry a multi-billion dollar set-up. The truth is essentially the opposite of what the ads depict. Detox diets are bullshit and here’s what you need to know.
Your Liver And Kidneys Self-Detoxify Themselves, Not Some Stupid Vegetable Juice © Thinkstock
Somewhere someone came along a wild wag naturopath who lived off vegetables and propagated the idea that they cleanse the body of toxins. Of course he was skinny and people wanted to be skinny, so the trend took off. The only problem here is that this ‘naturopath’ was wrong. The human body has a very efficient detoxification system which includes the liver, kidneys, spleen and even the skin. They have been doing their jobs for centuries before this idiocy of detoxification began. Moreover, there aren’t more than few bits of research that prove that detoxifying diets help the body in any real way.
If Toxins Build Up In Your Body, You’d Be Dead By Now © Thinkstock
What if there were no detox diets? Well, you would still survive. Yes, you fancy people; you will still live like everybody else who hasn’t ever had a detox diet. There’s no proven research which says that a completely healthy excretion system works better because of a detox diet. Whatever impurities we take in from the air, water and food are well taken care of by our body. The kidneys and the liver know what they are designed to do and they do exactly that.
Eat Your Greens But Don’t Make It A Replacement For Macronutrients. A Detox Diet Is The Worst Way to Lose Weight. © Thinkstock
It’s not hard to understand that green vegetables are our only source of essential micronutrients, i.e vitamins and minerals. They are absorbed and used the best by our body only when taken in the presence of fat, protein and carbohydrates. A lot of detox diet propagators ask fat people to replace the macros with the micros. This is catastrophic for the body. Of course you will lose weight but along with that short-lived weight-loss comes frustration, craving disorders, muscle mass loss and a host of other problems.
The Idea That You Can Flush Your Organs Of Impurities Is A Multi-Million Dollar Scam Business        Corporations will manufacture everything that sells. Detox diets and juices sell and this has led to the creation of a multi-million dollar industry that’s based on nothing but lies. Advertisements are always telling us about the poisonous substances we are inhaling and eating but never once are we told what these substances are.  Nobody has an idea what they are really cleaning out with the detox diet they are gloating about. None of the biggest detox product manufacturers have ever been able to prove what they claim their products to do.

Google has been exerting their control over Android for a while now and since the launch of their brand new flagship phone, the search engine giant has reaffirmed its position to dominate the smartphone market.
Google was only interested in working with partners who had manufacturing capabilities and since then the tech giant took the step to build their own flagship phone. Google designed the Pixel from the bottom to the top and has been experimenting with other devices before the launch of their flagship device and played an active role in streamlining supply chain deals and sourcing.
Google has taken a huge risk by launching their own flagship phone, they have a lot on the line but if it works out for them, they can reap massive benefits from the same risk.
According to an analyst from Morgan Stanley, Google will most probably be able to raise at least $4 billion in revenue in 2017 alone and the Pixel’s sales will fall somewhere between 5 to 6 million units by the end of next year.
    © BCCL
Apple earns around $137 billion in revenue, which dwarfs Google’s projection however it’s not a bad start for Google. The reason why it is a good start for Google is because the company still does not have a brick and mortar presence as compared to its rival.
This is what the Morgan Stanley Analyst had to say:
“People spend three times more money on iOS shopping apps than they do Android ones, but some of the Pixel’s features will help close this gap, according to the bank’s analysts.
Features unique to the Pixel, such as the Google Assistant, the Pixel camera, and Daydream (Google’s virtual reality headset, which works with the Pixel), plus the smartphone’s deeper app integration, increased prominence of Android Pay, and improved computing power (compared to other Android devices), will ultimately lead to users spending more money on Android, according to the research note.”

The year 2016 will go down in history as one of the greatest years in sports just because of the sheer amount of events we witnessed in this calendar year. Be it the Olympics where Phelps and Bolt dominated with their amazing talent or the T20 World Cup where Kohli redefined modern day cricket, 2016 had something for everyone. Here’s a look at our top 50 moments which left an indelible mark in the history of world sports.
    1. Portugal Wins Euro 2016 © Reuters
Euro 2016 was one of the strangest sports events of 2016. With football heavyweights like France, Germany, Spain and England vying for the coveted title, what transpired in Euro 2016 was completely unexpected. Without a win in the league stages, Portugal came from behind and won the title on the back of Ronaldo’s on field genius.
    2. Michael Phelps Breaks 2000 Year Old Olympic Record © Reuters
Michael Phelps came back from retirement for one last time and boy, did he bring his A-game to Rio. At the end of the event Phelps not only broke a 2000 year old standing record at the Olympics but also became the greatest Olympian of all time with his incredible dominant display in the pool.
    3. Usain Bolt’s Triple Triple © Reuters
The fastest man on planet completed his triple-triple at the Rio Olympic Games winning the 100m, 200m and 4x100m events in three successive Olympics. There’s no doubt now that he is the greatest sprinter of all times at the Olympics.
    4. Leicester City Wins EPL © Reuters
Leicester City’s fairytale season earned them the EPL trophy in 2016 and considering how they were 5000-1 favorites at the start of the season to win the title, it’ll be remembered as one of the greatest underdog stories of all time.
    5. Iceland Vs England © Twitter
Iceland with a population of 330,000 was probably one of the most underrated teams at Euro 2016 in France. And that didn’t deter them from taking on the might of England and beat them at their own game, convincingly. The Iceland v England game of Euro 2016 was an epic David v Goliath show which shook the foundation of the home of football.
    6. Diaz Vs Mcgregor © Reuters
The images of Nate Diaz’s choke hold which submitted Mcgregor into a tap-out are a good reminder of the brutality inflicted in MMA. That Mcgregor won back his manhood after five months in a rematch shows why Mcgregor is one of the most competitive UFC stars at this moment.
    7. Katie Ledecky © Reuters
If there was someone more dominant than Bolt and Phelps at the Rio Olympics, it was Katie Ledecky. The swimmer won 4 Gold and 1 silver at the biggest sporting event on the planet. What was more impressive was her lead time of 12 seconds in the 800m freestyle event. Phelps’ records are great but if Katie goes on to swim for two more Olympics who knows how quickly they’ll fall.
    8. Simone Biles And The Final Five © Reuters
Simone Biles led American Gymnastics team produced a stellar show on the mats to steal an incredulous amount of medals at the Rio Olympics. Biles won the individual gold in all-round event, floor routine and vault. The final five, as the American team is called also lapped up the all-round team medal by a margin of more than eight points.
    9. Virat Kohli T20 World Cup © Twitter
Virat Kohli was the man of the tournament at the T20 World Cup and single-handedly guided India to the semi-finals. Kohli made 273 runs at an average of 136.5.
    10. Russell And Simmons Stop Kohli’s March To Final In T20 World Cup © Twitter
Lendl Simmons and Andre Russell dragged India out of T20 world cup final with an incredible show in the semis. Chasing a mammoth 193 in the semis, West Indies required 160 runs in the last 15 overs to make it to the finals. In what was a memorable batting display for the West Indian fans, they probably deserved all the success at the time.
    11. PV Sindhu Shines Above Saina In Olympics © Twitter
PV Sindhu came out of the shadow of Saina Nehwal to make it to the finals of her event in badminton at the Olympics for the first time. As she took on Carolina Marin of Spain in the finals Sindhu had already secured silver, a rare feat in India’s individual medal history.
    12. Sakshi Malik © Reuters
Nobody could have predicted before the Olympics started that a little know girl from Rohtak would bring the first cheers for an entire nation. In an event where the likes of Gagan Narang and Abhinav Bindra fell to competition, Malik’s medal brought some much needed positivity to the entire Indian contingent.
    13. Lionel Messi Misses His Penalty In Copa America Final, Retires And Un-Retires © YouTube
Lionel Messi sobbing after the Copa America final was not what fans expected before the finals against Chile. What made the loss insufferable for Messi, who retired later, was the penalty miss which went wide and high. He returned from retirement later, much to the relief of millions of fans.
    14. Serena Williams Equals Steffi Graf’s Record 22nd Major © Twitter
Serena Williams was a nervous mess in 2016 as she crawled her way to a record equaling 22nd major at Wimbledon. In a rematch of Australian Open, Serena defeated Angelique Kerber 7-5, 6-3.
    15. West Indies Win T20 Wc Both Men And Women © Twitter

So, she is doing nothing outlandish in the video and is not even talking. She is basically a naughty Santa in red lingerie jumping on her bed, and is apparently a visual treat for her strong following. Also, you will hardly see her face in the video, plus her version of ‘Jingle Bells’ is called ‘Jingle b**bs’, but you could have already guessed that.

In what was otherwise a mostly disappointing year for Indian cinema, a few films did stand out for, be it for their subject or the outstanding performances. From the idea of consent to mental health to drug abuse to homophobia, 2016 did rise above the stereotypes in its own way. Purely on the basis of merit (sorry Salman fans), take a look at our list of the best of Bollywood in 2016.
    1. Airlift  ‘Airlift’ is a movie about a man rediscovering his roots while guiding hundreds of Indians stuck in a war-torn country. Akshay Kumar's impressive performance coupled with the right dose of patriotism makes airlift a must watch!
    2. Neerja  Sonam Kapoor’s best (and probably the only credible) performance till date, ‘Neerja’ narrated the story of how Neerja Bhanot, a young braveheart who gave up her life so a hundred others could live in the unfateful Pan Am flight 73 hijack in 1986. An incredibly directed film, ‘Neerja’ is easily one of the finest biopics ever made in Bollywood.
    3. Aligarh The film may not have made much business but if your love for cinema is beyond the numbers and star power, ‘Aligarh’ is just the film you need to watch to restore your faith in Bollywood. A harsh reality of the much homophobic India, ‘Aligarh’ was lauded and honoured at most film festivals in the country and even abroad and rightly so. Even though it may get none, this film deserves all the awards out there! Manoj Bajpayee, take a bow!
    4. Nil Battey Sannata 2016 was the year when the offbeat, low budget films got way more recognition that they ever did before with Swara Bhaskar’s ‘Nil Battey Sannata’ kind of leading the way. Kudos to the director Ashwini Iyer Tiwari for making this film such a delightful yet impactful watch.
    5. Kapoor And Sons  Shakun Batra brought to us this family drama in March 2016 and saying that it hit us all in the right feels would be understatement. Family drama is a fairly difficult genre to crack and Bollywood history is proof. ‘Kapoor and Sons’ managed to bring out the essence of a dysfunctional family and sibling rivalry using mundane as the medium without once bordering onto unnecessary melodrama. Easily, one of the best films of 2016!
    6. Udta Punjab Much to CBFC’s disapproval, ‘Udta Punjab’ reached the theatres nationwide and won all the praises it deserved for raising a very, very real, grim and relevant issue of drug abuse in Punjab. A fabulous script and a riveting screenplay, ‘Udta Punjab’ makes it to the list for reasons more than one. The biggest mention to Alia Bhatt and of course, the director Abishek Chaubey.
    7. Pink ‘Pink’ was not just a fabulously scripted film, it was an important one. For a nation that’s always struggling to keep its women safe, this one was a much needed lesson in the idea of consent and what it really means.

    8. Parched Cinema in 2016 was path-breaking in many ways, especially when it came to portraying women. Objectification of women was galore but the films that really stood out said what was really needed to be said about them. Director Leena Yadav struck a beautiful chord with this one that revolved around the lives of four women in rural Rajasthan and how they kick patriarchy in the nuts in their own fearless ways.
    9. Dear Zindagi The film wasn’t a typical masala potboiler despite starring Shah Rukh Khan. And thank God for that. ‘Dear Zindagi’ was director Gauri Shinde’s take on how important it is that we, the millennial, start talking about mental health. The film may have faltered at points, but it was a much needed dialogue for a society that still brushes necessary issues like mental health under the carpet.
    10. Dangal Aamir Khan’s film on Mahavir Singh Phogat, an Indian wrestler who trains his badass daughters to represent India in the sport was a complete emotional rollercoaster. It could have been hard tackling themes like patriotism, women empowerment and gender stereotypes but the film aced it all and how! ‘Dangal’ made sure 2016 ends with a big bang!

While growing up, we often watched ‘Home Alone’ and imagined a white Christmas. Big trees, snowfall and hot chocolate in hand, life in the city cannot really give you that combination. In our country, our best bet to experience snow fall was flying to the lovely city of Kashmir, or driving to Kufri. Shimla, supposedly a hill station had been pretty dry in terms of snowfall for a long time. For the first time in 24 years, people went crazy because it was a white Christmas and Twitter was full of snowfall pictures that are making it very hard for us to concentrate on a Monday.

Indian parents would agree to this whole-heartedly. A study has found out that kids smacked till the age of 6 turn out better. Not only do they tend to do better at school, but they are also likely to do well for themselves later in life, as compared to the kids who’ve never been beaten by their parents. It was found that kids smacked before the age of 6 had more a more optimistic attitude to life and were also more likely to do volunteer work.
    © YouTube
According to the study, conducted in the US by Marjorie Gunnoe, professor of psychology at Calvin College, there was not enough evidence to prove that smacking up to the age of six harmed children in the long run. The study involved 179 teenagers who were questioned about various behaviours, particularly those that are known to be affected by spanking.
Those who had had been smacked by parents till the age of 6 fared better on almost factors. However, teens who were smacked till late were the ones to fare worse in all behavior categories.

The study did not go down well with groups like National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, who have been fighting to ban physical violence on children.
Of course, there’s a difference between light smacking to correct a child and beating the hell out of them. The former can be constructive when trying to rectify a naughty child but could be traumatic if it ends up injuring the child for good.
While hitting kids is increasingly being frowned upon in the West and parents are only allowed ‘reasonable chastisement’, here in India, it has been a way of life growing up. If your parents have never chased you with a chappal when you were little, they probably don’t love you enough!

India's bowling spearhead, Mohammed Shami, has been in prolific form for India. The speedster claimed 10 scalps in three matches and was pivotal in India's 4-0 whitewash against England in the recently-concluded series.
His breathtaking delivery that breached Alastair Cook's defence and broke the off-stump in two pieces was one of the most memorable moments of the five-match Test series. But, despite his heroics on the field, Shami has drawn the ire of some cricket fans on social media.
Shami, on 23 December, posted a picture of his wife and daughter on Facebook, only to get bombarded with regressive comments by the cricket fanatics. The comments, bordering on abuse by fans, was directed at Shami's wife Haseen Jahan who was seen wearing a sleeveless outfit in the picture.

A post that garnered over 1,500 comments saw some fans preaching moral values and reminding Shami of his religious values and beliefs. One comment in particular stood out, "sharam karo sar ap ek muslim ho bibi ko parde me rakho aur kuch sikho amla ali aur bhi bahut saro sr", which roughly translates to – “Have some shame sir, you are a Muslim, keep your wife covered and try to learn from (Hashim) Amla, (Moeen) Ali and others”.
Now, one doesn't need to be told what his wife, or for that matter any of his family members, should wear. And, more importantly, religious values of a man shouldn't be questioned just because his wife was wearing a sleeveless dress, which by the way is far from obscene.
    © Facebook
Following a barrage of such shameful comments, Shami came out all guns blazing to shut the hatemongers. The right-arm seamer took to Twitter and said: "Ye dono meri zindage or life partner hai me acha trha janta hu kiya karna hai kiya nahi.hame apne andar dekhna chahiye ham kitna accha hai".
Ye dono meri zindage or life partner hai me acha trha janta hu kiya karna hai kiya nahi.hame apne andar dekhna chahiye ham kitna accha hai.?
    — Mohammed Shami (@MdShami11) December 26, 2016 His tweet was followed by another one where he took a dig at all those who criticised him, "Very good morning. Har kisi ko jindagi mai mukam ni milta, kuch kismat wale hi hote hai jinhe ye nasib hota hai.!.jalteee rahooooo".

    — Mohammed Shami (@MdShami11) December 26, 2016 Shami's comments attracted a lot of praise from the netizens who backed the Indian cricketer against the bad elements of society. Former Indian batsman Mohammad Kaif also rallied behind Shami.
The comments are really really Shameful.

‘Dangal’ is undoubtedly the biggest movie of 2016 and coming from Aamir Khan’s stable you would expect nothing else. The movie is laced with impressive wrestling sequences and since most of them are based on Geeta Phogat’s life, it’s apparent that comparisons are bound to surface against her real life bouts and struggles. So, if you’ve not watched ‘Dangal’ yet, close this browser because there are spoilers ahead!
    © YouTube
The movie depicted the real struggle of the Phogat sisters and how disciplined their childhood was under the watchful eyes of their father. That Geeta Phogat became the first Indian woman wrestler to qualify for Olympics is not so surprising considering the hard work put in during her formative years. In fact, one of the best moments for the Phogat family was Geeta clinching Gold at the Commonwealth games as shown in the movie. The sequence of her bouts in the games was, however, a cinematic dramatization.
As depicted in the movie, the Gold medal bout that Geeta fought in the commonwealth games was not a down the wire thriller. In fact, Geeta Phogat won the one-sided bout quite impressively by winning the first two rounds 1-0, 7-0. Watch the video of that bout here:
And those of you wondering whether the whole incident at the end of the movie where Mahavir Singh Phogat is locked for Geeta’s final bout was true, it’s not. Mahavir Phogat’s authorized biography Akhada’s excerpts show the correct sequence of the event: “As Mahavir stood amid the cheering crowd that day, his gaze locked in on his daughter with pride, the cold winter morning of 1988 flashed before his eyes. That was the day when he had held her in his arms and emphatically proclaimed one day she will make her family proud.”

Chances are that your growing up years have been filled with songs by  the pop band ‘Wham!’ and the wonderful voice of George Michael weaving magic with ‘Last Christmas’ and ‘Careless Whisper’ still fills the room with fervour when we all end up singing with him. The beautiful Christmas number singer met with a dreadful hand of fate on Christmas itself when he died yesterday due to heart failure.
    © Twitter
George Michael was found dead at his home in Oxfordshire and his manager released an official statement hours later. The singer was a pop icon in the late 80s and 90s and sang about love like none of his contemporaries did.
His best selling album ‘Faith’ made his name permanent on the music scene and is still a staple for many of us. He was also the most played artist on the British radio network from 1984-2004, which is a huge achievement.
He became a major figure for the LGBT community after he came out as gay in 1998 and was an ardent supporter of AIDS awareness and gay rights.

The world not only lost an iconic figure of music, but a major part of our growing up years has also been buried with him.  Listening to ‘Careless Whisper’ will never be the same again for me and I guess, you’d agree.
May his soul rest in peace! That is the only prayer we have for the man who gave us a gift in the form of his music that shall stay long even after he is gone.

Circumstances and the smartphone paradigm have changed over the course of time. Today, we no longer consider some of the phones we would expect to dominate a smartphone list on top anymore. The iPhone 7 is not the best phone in the market even if we thoroughly enjoyed playing around with it. Some phones have amazing new features whereas some lack many. Here is out list of the best smartphones money can buy today
    1. Google Pixel - Starting at INR 57,000 © BCCL
The Pixel and Pixel XL are the newest entrants to the smartphone world and used a customised launcher, which is only available on Google’s brand new flagship phone. It has a very helpful Assistant app and is probably a superior phone to the iPhone in all aspects. It has fast charging, a better screen and is lighter than most phones.
It sports the most efficient and reliable Snapdragon 821 processor, 4 GB of RAM and one of the most impressive cameras we have seen till date.
    2. iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus – Starting at INR 55,000 © BCCL
The iPhone 7 is a remarkable phone even though it lacks inspiration when it comes to design. It’s still hard to distinguish the phone from its predecessors but it is still one of the top phones in the market. Apple has made improvements to the phone where it counts and has also made it water-resistant. It has a better camera, a better screen, and faster performance. However, the removal of the 3.5 MM jack is an inconvenience you just cannot ignore.
    3. OnePlus 3T – Starting at INR 29,999 © BCCL
OnePlus made an unusual move when they announced an updated version of the OnePlus 3 just 5 months after the release of the original. The OnePlus 3T has minor upgrades like a faster processor (Snapdragon 820), a 16-megapixel front camera, better battery life and fast charging. However, the phone lacks a camera that can take good pictures but it’s good enough for the price it is being offered at.
    4. Samsung Galaxy S7  - INR 41,820 © BCCL
The Samsung Galaxy S7 is a phone that has a beautiful design and sports one the best cameras a phone can have. The camera is so good that even the iPhone 7 Plus cannot hold it together in front of the S7. The phone is water-resistant and is one of the most powerful phones on the market today.
    5. Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge – INR 50,900 © BCCL
The S7 Edge is absolutely gorgeous to look at and it has a bigger display than the regular S7. It has almost the same identical features as the S7 but it’s the body-design that makes the phone feel amazing to hold.
    6. Moto Z – INR 40,000 © BCCL
It is one of the thinnest phones in the world and it is one the best-looking phones we see today.  It runs the stock Android version and has different modules that can be attached to the phone. Some of the best will add more battery life to the phone and some might add more functionality. For example, you can attach the JBL speaker module that will amplify the sound or a camera lens module that will enhance your pictures.
    7. iPhone SE – Starting INR 27,999 © BCCL
The Se is a phone that Apple fans have been craving since Apple made the move to build bigger phones when they introduced the iPhone 5. The iPhone 5s gets clunky and the performance is questionable, but the SE should solve that problem. The small-sized phones are perfect for people who do not like larger screens and want a quality camera too. The quality of pictures is amazing (better than the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s) however; we recommend you get the 64 GB version.
    8. Xiaomi Mi 5 – INR 23,999 © BCCL
The Xiaomi Mi5 is one those smartphones that broke the flagship image in 2016. It is a phone that every company wanted to make for a price that was half of most competing smartphone manufacturers. It has a gorgeous build, super fast performance, long lasting battery and a camera that will churn out quality pictures. If you are on a budget, this is the one for you.
    9. HTC 10 – INR 38,900 © BCCL
The HTC 10 sports a Nexus-like stock Android experience and has numerous hardware upgrades across the screen, audio and the camera. However, the phone’s USP is its design and it is one of the most beautifully designed phones out there. However the HTC 10 is no flagship killer and it will only appeal to a niche audience.
    10. LG G5 – INR 38,990 © LG
The LG G5 is the first phone that introduced modular technology to the market and we are glad they took the first step. One can say that the Moto Z has taken inspiration from the LG G5. It is a top-notch phone which might carve a niche or the future of smartphones in 2017.

First of all, Twinkle Khanna, take a bow. You hit ‘em right where it hurt the most.
    © BCCL
It all started when Twinkle Khanna wrote this EPIC blogpost on Times Of India about the 10 wackiest classifieds of 2016. Filled with puns and not-so-subtle digs, the blogpost was GOLD!
When your editor wants you to round up a convoluted year and all your brain wants to do is go HoHoHo:) https://t.co/Mo2wVCGuzc pic.twitter.com/tRW3Ckeg5H
    — Twinkle Khanna (@mrsfunnybones) December 25, 2016 What followed was absolute wrath. In case you missed it, we’re talking about the part where she wrote a matrimonial column for Salman Khan. It read, Alliance Wanted For One Of India’s Oldest But Most Eligible Bachelors: Dashing, non-vegetarian, successful and muscular Khandani boy. Excellent in dance, drama and art. Girl must be pretty, slim and enjoy long drives off the beaten path. Bride must not be very talkative, as groom cannot tolerate any buck buck. Caste no bar. Contact Sultan@Bhaijaan.com
It obviously left the Bhai fans burning with rage (and oh, it was so much fun). They took to Twitter to hate on Twinkle Khanna because that’s what they do – bully.
    What is worse? @mrsfunnybones

Being single (like Salman Khan) or betraying your then Best Friend Shilpa Shetty and married her boyfriend ?
    — ℋazra ツ (@h_hazra) December 25, 2016 @mrsfunnybones think twice salman khan ke bare me kuch bolne se pahle???
    — ??‍♀️ŠaŁMâÑīĆ ? (@BadassSalmanic) December 25, 2016 This was obviously coming.

    — Shubham Gupta (@awesomeshubham) December 25, 2016 It’s funny how they didn’t even realize whom they were pitting themselves against!
I write social, political satire-will not examine an ant & spare an elephant because I fear getting trampled by the herd #TrollProof #CarryOn
    — Twinkle Khanna (@mrsfunnybones) December 25, 2016 I mean come on, she’s called Mrs. Funny Bones for a reason.
To all the Bhai fans 'Merry Christmas'  #TrollProof pic.twitter.com/jAilgq1ZfA
    — Twinkle Khanna (@mrsfunnybones) December 25, 2016 Needless to say, the war ended right there.

Last weekend, Salman Khan threw contestant Priyanka Jagga out of the ‘Bigg Boss 10’ house for disobeying rules and making inappropriate comments on fellow contestants. First time in the history of the show, a contestant was disqualified on national television.

While most of the contestants clapped in celebration as Salman Khan showed Priyanka Jagga the door, Jagga mostly remained silent and unapologetic. And now, two days after her disqualification from the show, there are reports suggesting that she had a miscarriage while on the show. Yes, apparently, Priyanka Jagga was pregnant in the ‘Bigg Boss 10’ House.

In an interview with BollywoodLife, her brother Sameer made some shocking revelations. Explaining why a gynecologist visited her in the house, he said, “Unko miscarriage ho gaya tha. Wo beemar the islie wo aye hain.”

He went on to reveal that despite her medical condition and suffering from bleeding, she was asked to dance for Salman Khan’s birthday, which she rejected. She was also made to perform tasks in the house which worsened her condition. According to his statement, Priyanka Jagga also complained of the lack of hygiene after she saw rats all over the house.

Talking of her public image, he said, “People might be abusing us now, but they will calm down in a few days.”
Just a few weeks ago, contestant Jason Shah also quit the show after he fell sick. Is ‘Bigg Boss 10’ responsible for the deteriorating health of the contestants on the show? This needs to be looked into.

    1. Rules Don’t Apply:
This hilarious rom-com set in Hollywood 1958 follows the unpredictable and eccentric lives of an aspiring actress and her enthusiastic driver. They both work for the iconic Howard Hughes. Marla, our aspiring actress falls for Frank, her driver, the first time they meet. Although he’s engaged to be married, he finds himself questioning everything with his undeniable attraction towards her. A great will-they-or-won’t-they kind of film.

    2. Loving:
Loving is a beautiful and painful love story about the struggle of an interracial couple in 1967. We take the liberty to love and be with whomever we want as granted these days, but this film brings to light just how intolerant the world used to be! With sensational performances by both the leads, it’s a wonderful movie that just might bring a tear to a grown man’s eye!

    3. La La Land:
The palpable chemistry between Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling is brought back to life in this inspiring film about 2 young talented people trying to make it in Hollywood. It’s a musical, full of beautiful words exchanged between true lovers, so be ready for a lot of material to send to your girl later!

    4. Mother’s Day:
This one is heavy on the star power! We have 3 leading ladies- Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, and Julia Roberts in this big-hearted comedy bringing light to the fun differences the generation gap brings to family life. When we talk about love, we shouldn’t forget the original love every man has, and that is his mother! A great flick to watch with Mommie dearest!

    5. Me Before You:
An adaptation of the best selling novel by Jo Jo Myes, this is the heart-warming story of the different ways love can heal wounds we didn’t know we had. It stars Emilia Clark as a happy Englishwoman from a small town who comes to London to take care of a wealthy quadriplegic man.  It’s a beautifully shot and the message is one we all like to hear, that someone just might come along and turn everything around for us, as long as we let them!

    7. Allied:
We’re all fans of Marion Cotillard for her extremely romantic yet absolutely devastating vibe. And her chemistry with Brad Pitt on screen is excellent in this story about the strain war puts on relationships. It has moment of absolute pleasure, and then to even it out, moments of deep pain. A strong cast and a wonderful storyline makes for a perfect fit for a romantic Sunday night!

Now that you’ve got the list, call your ladylove over and get down to watching these films! End 2016 on a beautiful and romantic note!

Take my money, 20th Century Fox, take it! Even though the internet decried Prometheus for being too ambitious, I personally liked the film. It was a dark look at the dangers of playing God and the consequences of ones actions in the face of extinction. I liked the look of the film and even the Engineers and the various creatures looked cool as all hell! So, imagine my surprise when Fox decided to announce that they were making a new ‘sequel’ to ‘Prometheus’ in the form of an ‘Alien’ film!

Alien: Covenant was announced earlier this year and fans have been eagerly waiting for a trailer. Well, wait no longer, alien lubbers, we’ve got a brand new trailer for you guys. And guess what? It’s a Red-band trailer. Looks like it’s going to be a sweet Christmas day after all!

You’ve got all sorts of goodies in here like facehuggers, mutated humans and yes, even the Xenomorph makes a much welcome appearance in what looks like a very nasty scene!

Alien: Covenant is out in May 2017 and we’re really excited to see exactly what the fuss is all about.
