    I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Mr. Modi is probably the most stylish PM ever. And maybe it's the times we live in, NAMO (and his PR army) have carefully crafted an image that has not only made a million impressions, but also will last an eternity. Controversial political aside, the man sure knows how to promote indigenous weaves on a global level. The man (or whoever is styling him) sure knows how to make a big, bold style statement—EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. We are talking about tone-on-tone ensembles, sorbet-hued kurtas paired with contrast Nehru jackets, statement-y shawls, and, vintage sunglasses. 
    Here are 7 style lessons that you (and all of us) should learn from him:
    1. A half-sleeve kurta in a sorbet shade might read simple on paper, but is actually a very fashion forward look. The PM wears it with white churidars and his signature black sandals, and you should too!

    Animal cruelty is very real in our country. And during festivals like Diwali, it only worsens; for the simple reason that animals aren’t used to disruptions, loud noises and the sight of fire. While Diwali celebrations can be great fun for people, pets can be left trembling, shaking, barking more and injured by fireworks. Light, noise and color can be frightening and chaotic for animals. Thousands suffer burns every year from firecrackers. Moreover, animal shelters report a dramatic increase in pets lost during the commotion of the celebration. Tell me, how would you like if someone were to set off a cracker right under your nose? Or, does the noise and the excessive smoke get to you after a point? It does, doesn’t it? So, how are the animals any different? If anything, it’s only a hundred times more pronounced for them—pets, or strays.

    “Loud fireworks displays cause noise, which can be stressful for our pets,” says N. G Jayasimha, Humane Society International/India managing director. “It’s best to choose small crackers and ensure a safe Diwali for our furry friends at home and around our neighborhoods.”

    So, with immense help from the team at Humane Society International, we have set out a list of 12 precautionary steps you can take to ensure that your pets, as well as the street animals, stay out of harm’s way this Diwali.
    1. Keep your pets indoors and in a familiar room. Pets have a heightened sense of hearing so the jolts and loud noises cause many animals to flee in search of safe haven.
    2. Keep all doors and windows closed and draw the curtains to reduce the noise. Supply pets with enough food and water and ensure someone can stay with them to comfort them.

    3. Store fireworks safely in a closed box, somewhere cool and dry, and out of reach of pets. Do not keep fireworks containers under stairs or exposed in passages.
    4. Decorate with lights, lamps and diyas that are friendlier to the environment and animals by giving off less smoke and noise.

    5. Refrain from bursting crackers near an animal shelter or zoo. Noise can cause panic and fear. Pollution from burning firecrackers is also harmful to their health.
    6. Take dogs for a walk during the daytime before the celebrations begin. Never walk them near where others are lighting firecrackers.

    7. Consult a veterinarian if pets are prone to acute anxiety or distress from loud noises. Check their availability during Diwali in case of emergency.
    8. If you feed stray animals around your neighborhood, make sure that they are wearing tags labeled with their names and your phone numbers. In case they run away because of the merry-making, people who find them will be able to contact you.

    9. Make a first aid kit in preparation for helping injured animals. Have a bucket full of water handy for emergency and for putting used sparklers into.
    10. Ensure pets are wearing collars and identification tags with current contact information. All pets, even those kept indoors, should wear collars with identification tags at all times.

    11. Keep contact information for local municipal corporations and surrounding shelters handy and approach them immediately in cases of lost pets. If you find a lost pet, either take her to the address on the tag or a local animal shelter.
    12. Discourage anyone who tries to harm or tease animals during Diwali, with or without firecrackers. Report them and the incident immediately to the local corporations and admonish their actions so they feel guilty of being cruel to helpless creatures who look to us humans for their defenses.

    Just when you think that the world’s becoming a better place, some shithead comes up and dents your faith. This Canadian man is exactly the douche bag we are talking about. While Canada is one the world’s most immigrant friendly country, some white folks still can’t get their head out of the ‘white-supremacy’. The abusive incident took place in Abbotsford, British Colombia when an officer was ticketing a white dude who had wrongly parked his pick-up truck. Just when the man got overtly aggressive, a brown man present there started recording the rant. Upon noticing him, the white folk came through like a real jerk and started hurling racial slurs at the brown man. The video will make your blood boil.

    It’s hard to forget what a stupendous underdog super-hit movie 'Deadpool' was. The theatrics, the CGI and well of course its closeness to the actual comics. Ryan Reynolds did a great job of giving the earlier ‘oh-so-stupid’ character of Deadpool from X-Men Movies a new lease of life. Since the movie was a hit, it was inevitable that a sequel would come. Well, the sequel is in the making but sadly, Tim Miller will not be taking seat as the director this time. A disagreement between Reynolds and Miller has led Miller to abandon the movie.

    Miller not directing the sequel is surely a bad news because he was the mastermind behind the original super hit. But all this drama has started something very, very interesting. People now want Quentin Tarantino to direct 'Deadpool 2'. Yes, this is true and there’s even a legit petition on Change.Org called ‘Tarantino For Deadpool 2’.

    If you know Tarantino, the man’s a filmmaking legend. Whatever he creates surely is gold. The petition started with a handful of signatures and has now garnered over 10,000 signatures! Well, if Tarantino comes on board, 'Deadpool 2' will surely go down in the history books.

    Hrithik Roshan is back with his next film ‘Kaabil’ and it seems like he will have to wait a little longer for a hit. Directed by Sanjay Gupta and produced by Rakesh Roshan, the film is about a visually impaired couple played by Hrithik and Yami Gautam who seem to be winning over life with their ‘two negatives make a positive’ motto, but life is far from kind to them. Trouble arrives in the form of Ronit and Rohit Roy who look vicious enough to make you cringe with anger.
    The story so far is a no brainer but the trailer leaves one a little intrigued when it shows an angry Hrithik cursing the system and plotting revenge. Ooh, so original, Bollywood! We must confess we were a little excited when the teaser came out and we realllly hoped it would treat disability with a little more realism but hey, how could we forget it’s Bollywood!
    Nevertheless, the only thing we could take from the trailer was that a common man can really **** with the system if the system fucks with him. Let’s just hope the movie packs more punch than the trailer. It hits theatres on 26 January, 2017.

    The rock and roll band from New Delhi has been making music and rocking the stage since 1991 and are still going strong. The band consists of Nitin Malik as the lead vocalist; Sonam Sherpa as the lead guitarist; Subir Malik on the keys, organ and synthesizers; Gaurav Balani on bass guitar; Srijan Mahajan on drums; Imran Khan on violin and Shambhu Nath on tabla and percussion.

    The band recently celebrated its 25th anniversary and has still managed to be one of the most popular musicians at the moment. The iconic band prefers to fuse traditional rock music with Indian sounds by incorporating instruments like the violin and tabla in their music. Parikrama has maintained a cult following for years and has established a distinct identity for themselves and their music over the years.
    Parikrama is here to make music and not money and they have proved it time and again. Even after all these years, they have yet to release a full-fledged album and often put their music up on their website for free. They don’t take any legal action against their music being copied and distributed. 
    Their most recognizable sound comes from their live performances and they rarely have any studio-recorded music. They encourage fans to download the band’s recordings from various places online and compile an album themselves whichever way they please. This selflessness is what sets them apart from most other bands in the Indian music scene. While mostly concentrating on live performances, the band works especially hard on their stage show. They have played an enormous amount of gigs over the years and still manage to keep it fresh and give their 100% in each and every performance. Parikrama has been one of the busiest bands ever, playing over a hundred gigs every year. 
    Parikrama will be performing live at the Bacardi Nh7 Weekender on 5th and 6th November in Hyderabad.

    On people inhabiting Mars Musk gave us a fair idea on how in his grand scheme of plans, this will be made possible. “Initially, glass panes with carbon fiber frames to build geodesic domes on the surface,” Musk wrote, “plus a lot of miner/tunneling droids. With the latter, you can build a huge amount of pressurized space for industrial operations and leave the glass domes for green living space”, he said. A user on Reddit asked him “what equipment and procedures will be required for refuelling operations on Mars?”, to which he mentioned that they were still in a nascent stage and that SpaceX will send “Dragon scouting missions, initially just to make sure we know how to land without adding a crater and then to figure out the best way to get water for the CH4/O2 Sabatier Reaction.”

    On the timeline of the Earth to Mars flight Elon said that they will “try to double the number of flights with each Earth-Mars orbital rendezvous, which is every 26 months, until the city can grow by itself”. He also mentioned that the rockets could be used for emergency purposes like providing medical supplies and other instruments.

    Haryana is India’s sports capital. It is also the worst place to be born as a girl, with the lowest *** ratio in a country of 1.3 billion people. And so, when the Phogat sisters made a splash on the world wrestling scene, the whole nation took notice. The six phogat sisters – Geeta, Babita, Ritu, Sangita, Vinesh and Priyanka are some of the brightest young wrestling stars of an emerging India and their rise is frequently attributed to the vision of one single man – Mahavir Singh Phogat.
    Mahavir Singh Phogat is the central character of the movie ‘Dangal’. He is the father of four Phogat sisters and will be portrayed by Aamir Khan in the movie. His life story is not only inspirational but also goes on to show how a single person can break the shackles of patriarchy in a society like ours and give roots to a mini gender revolution in a state plagued with social evils like female foeticide and infanticide.

    Growing up in a pehlwani environment in Balali, from the Bhiwani district of Haryana, Mahavir trained under the legendary wrestler Chandgi Ram at the famed Changdi Ram Akhara in Delhi. He was an extremely gifted wrestler himself during the 80s and was once called the king of dangals. "I used to be invited from different villages to fight dangals. I don't remember losing a fight and gradually became famous. People used to place bets on me winning a dangal. During those days, I won fights ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000," Mahavir reminisced while speaking to TOI recently.
    “People used to call me from different states, like Punjab, Himachal (Pradesh), Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, to fight dangals. You can say I was a mercenary fighter. At times, there were pehelwans from different parts of the country, who were double my size and it was really intimidating. But I would win, always," he explained.
    But this was not his destiny. He was part of a bigger plan which unfolded one fine evening when he watched Karnam Maleshwari won a medal for India at the Olympics. It was this realization at that moment in the year 2000 which spurred him to envision that even his daughters could be world beaters and compete with the best. He said, "When she can win a medal in the Olympics, why can't my daughters win a medal too," recalls Babita.

    Motivated to teach his daughters the sport of wrestling, Phogat left his job at the Haryana State Electricity Board and devoted all his time to nurture Geeta and Babita at a makeshift akhada near his house. But this move was met with severe criticism from within his community as the girls had to train with boys since no other girls from the same area practised the sport. "I thought my girls can lead the country in women's wrestling if I train them properly. So I taught them all the tricks that I knew and then took them to local dangals. But they were not allowed to fight and I was warned to not bring my girls to the dangals, which the villagers said were fiefdom of boys," Mahavir told TOI sport recently during a sport meet event.
    However, during the quest to train his girls, Mahavir was supported by his coach Chandgi Ram, who told him ‘what you are doing for your girls, you will see one day that it will bring you great happiness. So keep doing it, don't be scared, face your difficulties like you face opponents, and be deaf to the criticism.’ And those magic words of wisdom seemed to have hit the right chord with Mahavir who never looked back and continued to support his daughters and finally took them to train at the SAI Sonepat centre. 
    "There the coaches saw the talent in Geeta and Babita and took them under their wings. The rest, as they say, is history and the girls have made me proud. Now, after Geeta and Babita's achievements, the people, who had boycotted me, have made me the sarpanch," says Mahavir.

    Geeta Phogat broke the glass ceiling in Indian women’s wrestling when she became the first ever gold medal winner for India in the Commonwealth games. And she didn’t stop there; Geeta went on to win a bronze at the 2012 world championship and inspired her younger sister to silver too. Geeta Phogat was also the first woman wrestler from India to qualify for the Olympics. Six years later, the baton has now passed on to the younger crop of upcoming wrestlers, including Vinesh, Ritu and Sangita.
    Mahavir, though, has spent his life dedicated to the sport of wrestling which he loves so dearly. He has redefined how women athletes are looked at in a country like ours; he has brought the focus to a bunch of twenty-something girls who are not afraid to compete on the world stage anymore. But the biggest achievement of all, for Mahavir, is the fact that today, people are talking about the Phogat sisters more than the man who envisioned this success for them. And that is, in a male-dominated society like ours, a small window of hope for the future generations to come.

    A few hours ago, Vijay Nair, CEO, OML and the brain behind the happiest music festival the country sees every year, opened up about his experience at NH7 Weekender Shillong, in its first edition ever. In a lengthy and heartfelt Facebook post on his wall, he revealed the difficulties he faced, as an organizer of a music festival in a country that thrives on a privileged bureaucracy and a sense of entitlement. What’s interesting to note is that Nair’s post and his subsequent thoughts highlight a stark reality of India, as a cultural body. That the rich and politically-backed seem to think they deserve everything… free of cost—something Nair doesn’t seem to be new to. As you read on, the post reveals how the Shillong edition of Bacardi NH7 Weekender made more profits than Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata would make, if they were combined!

    Last weekend was the 19th edition of Bacardi NH7 Weekender and the second one in Shillong and it’s been 7 years of taking this festival to every part of the country.
    While Pune is still home, Shillong is without doubt the most satisfying edition for all of us at OML. It is a production challenge at an unimaginable scale. It's also the most expensive edition of the festival to put together. We have over a 100 trucks coming in from different parts of the country to a city which has very little infrastructure for live entertainment. Yet, the amazing crew puts together a festival of international standards and not once have we worked with sub-standard gear 'because its a small city'. Every year we keep investing in infrastructure locally so that one day more of you will be able to organise your own events. Shillong maybe a small city in size but it makes up for it in enthusiasm and heart. The whole city works together to make this festival happen. A city with just about a 1000 hotel rooms manages to accommodate 20 times the number of people by opening up their homes as guest houses and converting their fields into camping sites. Over 200 pop ups open up to make sure theres food in the middle of the night and every person in the village next door turns into an entrepreneur over the weekend!
    We decided to cancel 3 cities and focus more on Shillong this year and the results were pretty damn amazing - We sold more tickets in Shillong than Delhi + Bangalore + Calcutta combined last year.
    But most importantly, it's the most satisfying edition because of the fans. Nowhere else do we see such levels of enthusiasm and love for the artists. Thousands of people turn up before the gates are open. They all stay back till the headlining act plays the last song. They don't complain about 'too much sun' or rain. They have no bias against any genre of music and its taken me two years on ground to figure out they are much more than the 'rock capital' of India. Its the kind of thing that people in the mainland like to say to satisfy their own idea of what the north east is. The dance music stage had an audience bigger than some rock acts, the 3 pm folk music acts had as much of an audience as a 6 pm act in Pune. Steven Wilson had as big an audience as Farhan Akhtar, although Nucleya took the crowd game to another level and I am convinced that no matter what slot and stage he plays, that guy is the one true headliner in the country at this point in time. So thank you Shillong for helping us break every stereotype of what a music festival should be.
    But with all the good comes the annoying little things of putting together an event in India. It took only one year for the capital culture to creep into a place far away from Delhi. We were hounded by officials across Assam (???) and Meghalaya for Free Passes. Its only in this country that a bureaucrat feels entitled to getting access to everything for free because of a post he holds and for the job that he is supposed to do. In good faith, we give a huge discount to the people living in the village so they can attend the festival only to find out those tickets were being black marketed at a higher price outside. We had police officials in uniform bringing their friends and family and walking into the venue without any tickets taking advantage of the fact that the local security cannot physically hold them back. If not for support on ground from Springboard Surprises and the amazing Robert G Lyngdoh, it would have been almost impossible to pull this one through. There were many instances when we wanted to just give up because of the constant harassment. We resisted giving VIP access to any of them once again because the only people who deserve to be upfront and get the best access are the fans who buy tickets and lineup in the blazing sun and not an official with a false sense of privilege. With that, I have to also mention the tremendous support we get from the CM's office and the DC's office, going out of their way every single time to facilitate things for us. I wish their discipline and ethics would trickle all the way down.
    We would love to bring the festival to Shillong every year but its upto all the fans in Shillong to help us make this happen. Tag everyone who came to the festival and tag your ministers, leaders, press and start a discussion about this. There are two routes that Meghalaya can choose to take - use events as a means to boost tourism and Nh7 has proven that model works. Or you can go down the route of Delhi where almost nobody wants to do an event because of the VIP culture. I really hope all of you will actively be a part of shaping this future. We hope to be back next year, and if we do, I can promise you we will take it to a scale nobody is even thinking of right now.

So, the wife poses as a dancer in clubs and tries to get close to the victim with isolation being their ultimate goal and the husband shoots the chosen victim. The couple claims to have a ‘boss’ who is a well known policeman and this alleged boss lets them know who their victim is. The hit squad leaves a card reading "pusher" at the crime scene to attract media attention and act as proof that "the job is done".
    Well, with the common people involved, the police involved and the president as a supporter, we don’t really understand what the world is coming to but all we know is that karma’s a bitch!

    After releasing iOS 10 a month and a half ago, Apple just posted the final version of iOS 10.1 which is said to be the first major update. It is said that this update’s biggest addition will be exclusive to the iPhone 7 Plus, i.e. it will unlock the ‘Portrait Mode’ feature. This feature uses data from the main lens and telephoto lens to simulate the depth-of-field effect which is usually seen in professional photography.

    This iOS 10.1 update is available for all devices that run iOS 10 – which includes the iPhone, the fourth-generation iPad and  iPad Mini 2, both the iPod Pros and sixth-generation iPod Touch. Reportedly, a lot of fixes and other tweaks have also been made in iOS 10.1.
    Talking about the Portrait Mode, after the update, Apple’s algorithm for the 7 Plus’ two cameras might change and if the conditions aren’t ideal then you won’t be able to take shots using Portrait Mode. However, iOS will warn you if the lighting is poor or you are too close to the object you are clicking.

    Secondly, these shots will be a bit better as compared to other smartphones like the HTC’s One M8, but users might see problems in the photographs when you zoom in. In fact, the camera might have trouble with translucent or transparent objects as well. Having said that, you don’t need to worry too much because these pictures will look good on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or any other social media sites and for all you outdoor shoot lovers, the shots actually look good in the daylight. 
    All the pictures taken using the Portrait Mode will be automatically taken with the ‘telephoto lens’ and your phone will save both the blurred and the standard image. So even if your portrait mode shot does not look good, you still have the original one that can be worked with.

    Scientists have just discovered a secret Nazi base in the Arctic. It was constructed in 1942, a year after Hitler-led Germany invaded Russia. Built on Alexandra Land, an island that’s 1000 km from the North Pole, the secret base is called ‘Schatzgraber’ or ‘Treasure Hunter’.

    The base, that has been discovered almost 70 years after it was built, was used as a weather station and allowed the troops and navy to plan their movements and better. It was a strategic site in the north as a lot depended on the harsh weather conditions. It is believed that the scientists positioned there were poisoned by infected polar bear meat in 1944, after which they abandoned the base. 
    Scientists found a lot of items like pieces of ammunition and official documents that have been preserved by the cold weather. It is believed that Russia is looking to set up a military base at the site as it falls on Russian land. 
    Hitler launched one of the biggest offensives in the history of human civilization. No wonder he built a lot of secret bunkers and bases. It was no irony then that Hitler’s body was retrieved from his bunker.

    The Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry of India wants to ban the use of words ‘***’ or ‘sexual’ from policies regarding *** education in schools as reported by The Telegraph. Along with the removal of these words, the section also apparently needs to be condensed to just one sentence. 
    With the removal of phrases like ‘sexual health needs’, the only reference regarding *** education in the policy is confined to the line, “The Adolescent Education Programme and National Population Education Programme need to be extended to all schools as early as possible."
    But this absurd change is completely not required! Not mentioning the word *** will not make it stop existing. It will definitely not help children if they are shielded from such words as *** and *** education is an important topic that needs to be taught, more so in India where even the mention of the word *** in general is considered unacceptable. 
    The whole country needs to be a little mature about this topic and there needs to be a proper conversation about it. It’s high time for some progress in the controversial subject instead of going backwards like these policies are suggesting. Changing and barring words from educational texts is just not the way to go. How long will it take for people to realize that!

    It's being speculated that OnePlus has been working on a newer and faster version of the OnePlus 3. According to the leaks, it is believed that the new phone will be powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor and will be called the OnePlus 3T. 
    This news has been circulating for weeks now and it has been reaffirmed as OnePlus just filed for a new device with the A3010 model number with the China Compulsory Certificate Mark. A OnePlus designer has also confirmed these claims on the Chinese Version of Twitter, Weibo, as reported by several news outlets. 
    The OnePlus3 is already a fast phone with 6BG of Ram and we already rated it as one of the best Android phones out there The Snapdragon 821 processor can be clocked at 2.4 GHz and faster than the current iteration. The phone is expected to have  similar specs to its sibling but will sport an LCD panel as the company wants to focus on improving their Optic AMOLED Technology.
