    Comprising of singer-songwriter Sourabh Nicholson and producer, drummer and multi-instrumentalist Rohan Ramanna, Nicholson is a live electronica band based out of Mumbai. The duo is also often joined by Jehangir Jehangir and Stuart DaCosta of Dirty Jays on stage. Nicholson is relatively new, having only released two EPs yet, but they have established themselves immensely in that time.

    Their music is mainly influenced by jazz but is not confined just to that genre. The original and unique sound is hard to label and makes Nicholson stand apart in the music scene. They combine Jazz, Folk, Pop, Electronica, Soul, RnB and Hip-Hop.

    ‘For What’, the first EP by Nicholson, was released in May 2014 consisting of two songs and was up at BandCamp for free downloading. The lyrics written by Sourabh for the tracks perfectly compliment his voice and the combination of that along with the laid back, experimental electronica music give out a total transcendental experience. 
     
    The second EP, ‘Cold Water’, was released in December 2014 with three tracks. Again the introspective lyrics were a standout and the overall chill vibe his music gives off is fresh along with his amazing voice.
     
    Known for his impeccable live performances, Nicholson has gained a large following in a short span of time. They have played live at numerous venues, in India and internationally, and have managed to wow the audience each time. The long list of venues include the South Bank Centre in London, Glasgow’s Concert Halls, Nh7 Weekender, Stage 42 Festival, Magnetic Fields Festival, Ziro Festival of Music and the Great Escape Festival in Brighton to name a few.
    Nicholson will be live next at Bacardi Nh7 Weekender in Hyderabad (5th and 6th November) and Pune (2nd-4th December).

    Car design, especially car modifications and futures designs, are rarely talked about in India. What’s ironic is the fact that one of our generation’s most iconic and futuristic car designers is very much an Indian. Dilip Chhabria, the founder of the world renowned DC Designs, is the man we are talking about.

    For nearly two decades now, Chhabria has been at the epitome of kickass car mods and concept designs. But you would be surprised to know that he never thought of designing cars professionally.  After earning a degree in commerce, Chhabria was one day going through an automobile magazine and stumbled upon an advertisement saying ‘don’t you want to be a car designer’. That was when he packed his bags and went to study car design at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, US. He majored in transportation design. He then worked briefly with General Motors and soon realized that he wasn’t meant to build a hub or a handle. He took off and landed back in India.

    Chhabria’s education and vision was so ahead of time that Tata and Mahindra couldn’t understand what he applied for. He then asked his affluent father who owned an electronic business to help him out. He was then given a small space in his dad’s factory, 3 men as staff and a month’s time to prove his mettle. Chhabria made a replacement horn for Premier Padmini car and it sold beyond his belief.

    He made more money in a month than his dad made in a year. Dilip now had the factory to himself and his business up and running. In 1992 Dilip for the first time displayed his talent by modifying a Gypsy. He then worked on the Armada and developed the design for the first Scorpio.

    Then came the DC Avanti. The rear wheel drive 2 door sports coupe is considered to be India’s first ever supercar. The car resembles a Lamborghini and is powered by a 2 litre petrol-engine.

    In 2003 Chhabria designed the gizmo-packed James Bond films staple Aston Martin DB-8.  The model was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show the same year. Ever since then, his designs have earned a meticulous reputation and still remains the top player in car designs and car mods in India.

    I am Sikh, so I've had a beard since puberty. The only time I used to shave (after getting my hair cut), was when I was in Flight school. I have maintained a beard since I got out and don't plan on letting it go.  My mother hates it when I let my beard grow and prefers me clean shaven, but I end up looking like a 12-year-old when I don't shave.

    I like to trim it at least once a week to get rid of the (untidy) extra hair. I use a beard wash and oil once a day, twice if time allows me. To finish it off, I use a beard comb to make things even.

    James Cameron, the God of film-making just said that if and whenever the sequel of ‘Avatar’ happens, it might be possible to watch the next ‘Avatar’ film in 3D without those annoying glasses and it sounds like quite a development in the world of entertainment and, of course, technology.

    "I'm going to push. Not only for better tools, workflow, high dynamic range (HDR) and high frame rates (HFR) --- the things we are working toward. I'm still very bullish on 3D, but we need brighter projection, and ultimately I think it can happen --- with no glasses. We'll get there.” James Cameron recently said.
    Even though plenty of innovations have been made in making screens show 3D content without needing the use of 3D glasses, but it’s going to take a whole lot of technological advancements to make this possible at a scale as big as a movie theatre screen, for people who are sitting at different distances and different angles. It’s being said Cameron is postponing the sequel so he can give the audiences a never-seen-before experience.

    It’s been a decade since ‘Gears of War’ made its debut on the Xbox 360 and since then it has defined what blockbuster games really are. The developers behind the series have redefined the game as the latest installment has a similar feel to the original.
    ‘Gears Of War 4’ does nothing new or different which makes it one of the reasons why I love the game so much. It does not offer any new surprises but damns it feels good to play the game. As usual, you are playing a beefed up character in the traditional third person view ‘Gears of War’ is known for. The game controls exactly like it did before and you are still shooting at huge enemies. And guess what? You still have that chainsaw if you feel like carving up an enemy.
    There is a slight change in the story, though. Instead of playing the iconic character Marcus Fenix, you are controlling his son, JD Fenix. Along with his buddies, you go on an adventure which in a familiar world that has familiar problems. The dynamic between the crew is refreshing and has more personality; it feels like ‘Gears Of War 4’ has adapted the successful dialogue scheme between the characters as they joke around like you would with your friends. It feels like an Uncharted game, but it still retains the ‘Gears Of War’ mantra.

    ‘Gears of War 4’ is a story that is being told after 25 years since the events in the original trilogy. Marcus Fenix plays the role of a mentor as the torch is passed to JD and his friends Kait and Del. The game has not really re-invented itself but offers a familiar story of finding a missing person, this time Kait’s mother and you as JD face an unknown enemy. The idea of going against an unknown enemy always gives that mysterious feel we all crave for in a Video Game and ‘Gears of War 4’ delivers it successfully.

    The new mysterious enemy is the not the locust this time as you face the DeeBee robot enemies and a different kind of foe called the Seran Swarm. You need to be tactical when you deal with them for instance; some enemies would run towards you and self-destruct if they take too much damage. Such tactical play puts even more pressure on you as a player, which makes it exciting, and a challenge when you play on a higher difficulty.

    ‘Gears of War 4’ have some new weapons that fully coincide with the already established world and it also the classic weapons like the chainsaw we all love. The Chainsaw is one the most iconic weapons made since the ‘Needler’ and its kinetic strength can be felt the moment you use it.

    It’s best not to divulge into the campaign much as we like to keep it spoiler free. However, midway through the game, it did slow down a bit but there were times when new enemies kept the game interesting when it lacked somewhere in the plot. The new campaign is contained and it showed that you’re always doing something different. You can even play the campaign mode with a friend via the two-player split screen or have someone join you for online co-op. Finishing the campaign will give you that sense of achievement thanks to their less annoying design trope. Since it’s using a familiar formula as the original ‘Gears Of War’, the campaign did feel like a re-hash but it was still refreshing to feel that the developers got the recipe right.

    The star attraction of the game is five-player Horde Mode. This is where the game shines the brightest and they have updated the formula since ‘Gears Of War 3’ to give it that extra oomph factor. The tower-defense ideology works like a charm and it makes the most enjoyable game mode for us.
    The Final Say ‘Gears Of War 4’ is a game that you can compare to the latest Star Wars Movie ‘The Force Awakens’. It has a similar storyline as the original and it pleases every die-hard ‘Gears Of War’ fan for those reasons. It’s got new characters, new enemies and it’s been directed by a new team too. The narrative is similar to what we are used to but it is something that we needed.

    Shah Rukh Khan turns 51 today, and there couldn’t be a more appropriate occasion to reflect back on all that he’s contributed to Indian cinema. Stars come and go, but this man here, is a legend – the true King of Bollywood. Whether or not, you’re a fan…well, you’ve got to be a fan. It’s goddamn Shah Rukh Khan! And one of us made this beautiful video mash up of some of the best Shah Rukh Khan scenes of all times and it’s a nostalgic walk down the memory lane. It’s got everything we’ve all grown up watching and let’s just say it’s going to make your heart well up a little.

Your car’s fuel tank can be full but if its brake fluid and engine oil isn’t optimized you know you will reach nowhere. Same is with your body. These micronutrients perform several major roles in the body such as aid in metabolic pathways, immunity, enzymatic actions and bone health. Getting all the micronutrients and minerals from diet alone is definitely possible but will require a rich variety of fruits and vegetables to be consumed every day. Therefore, including a daily multivitamin and mineral supplement in the diet is a good idea.

    Vitamin D isn’t present in most of the multivitamin and mineral supplements. Vitamin D deficiency can be detrimental to one’s health causing weak bones, rickets in young children, sleep disorders and insomnia. In a recent survey it was found that an alarming amount of 65% Indians were deficient in Vitamin D and another 15% were low on the same. To ensure healthy quantity of Vitamin D in your body I would highly recommend starting supplementing with Vitamin D3. Start with a 60k IU dosage per week for 4 weeks then move to 1000-2000IU per day.

    We are a class-conscious nation, no doubt about it. We bargain with the local sabziwallas but spend lavishly in malls without giving it a second thought. Popular restaurants and bars have in the past been guilty of scrutinizing their customers on the basis of their attire or social status.
    Something similar happened at Mumbai’s Phoenix Marketcity when a family arrived in an auto-rikshaw they owned. Vikas Tiwari, who happens to be a software engineer, went to the mall along with his family in his brother’s auto-rikshaw. On arriving, they were told by the security guard that they couldn’t park their auto in the parking area of the mall.

    "I was shocked to hear about this new rule. Frustrated, I got down from the auto and asked the guard where it was mentioned that autos were not allowed in the parking lot. At the same time, I began to shoot a video of the confrontation. He then took me to the security cabin in the parking area, where four other guards asked me to stop shooting," The Mid-Day reported Vikas saying. 
    Vikas recorded the entire incident on his phone. Soon enough, things got heated and the supervisor and the mall’s manager were called and their attitude was anything but polite. 
    “I considered filing a police complaint but decided to keep quiet because my family was with me and I didn’t want to put them to trouble. Then the mall manager came and told me that their internal policy stated that parking is not allowed for auto rickshaws. But he was very rude throughout and didn’t even bother to look up at me even one. Instead, he kept playing on his phone,” he said. 
    “My brother drops hundreds of people at the mall but we were not allowed to go there in our own auto. Since when has there been a rule against parking autos in malls? Does that mean we cannot go to the mall unless we buy a car?” Vikas Tiwari was reported as saying.

    I have had my beard since 2012. I shaved it all off twice through the course of growing it, after giving the beard 12 months to grow on both occasions. I would like to believe I had a beard before it was cool. But then again, I also think I am the coolest (laughs). My mom tells me so every morning when she combs my hair.

    Any special beard stories...
    There was this time I had to choose between keeping my beard and featuring on India's leading menswear fashion magazine. They did not tell me I was expected to shave till about 10 minutes before I was to go in front of the camera. We both debated and argued. Eventually we arrived at middle ground and my beard was trimmed down to a 5 day stubble. But then I was so distraught with having given in, that I shaved off the rest of it right after the shoot and did not grow it for another 2 months.

    I only trust 2 makes for my beard. There is this guy in Bombay, Kapil Shingada who makes beard oil to your specifications. Wizard’s Elixir is what it is called. He understands what your requirement is, what your favourite scents are and then puts it all together with essential oils and what not. Honest Amish is my go-to brand for beard balm. It is organic and the best thing for your beard. Lately, I have discovered another new-to-market brand, Luvenesco. Both of these are based overseas and make good stuff.

    Are women into beard? Does it help or hurt your chances of getting laid? 
    Women are into beards, alright, because it exudes the whole ‘tough guy’ aura. Like, this guy looks like the kind who can chop some wood, fix me some breakfast and give you raging orgasms. But then it doesn't really help getting laid. Weirdly enough, I have been complimented for my beard by a shit load of men and just a handful of women. I wouldn't think it increases chances of getting laid if you lack game. As much as the women love beards, they perhaps dread the thought of a handful of hair in their mouth (grins). So that can't be the only factor. Or maybe, just maybe, I have not been in the right spots. Damn it!
    How do you maintain your beard? Tell us about your routine.
    I wash it once in 2 days, although I pat it with a moist towel every day. I oil it thrice a week, alternate days really. I do not use random soaps or shampoos on them. Only the best and choicest made products will do.

    One beard dos and don'ts?
    DO NOT comb your beard when it is wet, because you will end up with split ends. Keep it well conditioned. Use paraben free products.
    Has the beard changed your sense of style? Do you dress differently to fit your beard?
    Not at all, not one bit. I think the beard in fact adds on to your style, no matter what it is. I rock a suit a lot more harder than I do my sneakers, with a beard. Because people don't expect a long bearded man to wear a proper tailor made suit.

    If you are a biryani lover and you reside in Chennai, then there is a piece of grave and horrifying news that you are actually about to know. In a shocking revelation, the Chennai police and activists raided roadside eateries only to find out that cat meat was being used in the biryanis.  The activists at PFA carried out a secret operation to throw light on the brutality and joined hands with the police.

    They befriended the people who were abducting cats, made videos of them chopping the cats and confirming the use of cat meat in the road side biryani. Many cats were eventually rescued by the team. However, it seems like humanity is losing itself in every form.

    No matter what the controversy is, the joke’s always on Arvind Kejriwal. ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ recently released and of course, the trollers are having a field day.  And of all the parodies doing the rounds on social media, this one’s by far the most hilarious. This video of him singing ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ is going viral and looks like, Kejriwal has an alternate career waiting for him. You anyway don’t get more dramatic than an Indian politician.

    The iPhone 7 is a brilliant phone where they were very serious about wireless audio as their prime source of audio entertainment. They removed the headphone jack and, call it courageous, even though it isn’t and they are now planning to remove the wired charging altogether. 
    The Nikkei claims that Foxconn, which handles the most of iPhone’s manufacturing for Apple, is now experimenting and testing out wireless charging modules that are believed to be the key feature on the 10th Anniversary edition of the iPhone. It’s not certain if it will make it to the iPhone 8 as they still need to figure out a way to make the modules cost effective for Apple. 
    It was rumoured that the iPhone 8 will come out in three different sizes, and we cannot ignore the fact that it might even feature wireless charging. 
    Wireless charging has been implemented by other smartphone manufacturers like Samsung and LG and what Apple will come up with still remains to be seen. Traditional wireless charging requires the phone to be placed on a charging pad. However, Bloomberg reports that Apple might be looking into a different method. They want to charge iPhones from a greater distance and they also want it to be able to charge without ever placing it on the wireless charging pad. Let’s see what they come up with!
