This Video Is Being Used As A Prank To Crash iPhones And Heres What You Need To Do To Avoid It

There is a video that is being distributed as a prank, which slows down any iPhone and makes it eventually crash. The video from Miaopao, a video sharing app, plays normally on an iPhone for about a minute and then eventually freezes the phone making users to forcefully reboot the phone.

Most people are not aware of the fact that a video like this even exists and they end up being pranked until their phones are eventually taken to the home screen with the spinning logo on a black screen.

This bug affects every iPhone that is running iOS 5 and above which means it affects devices from the iPhone 4 to Apple’s latest offering the iPhone 7. The bug depends on how old the phone is i.e. the older the phone the faster it will freeze.

You need not worry, the lockup is not permanent and it requires a reset where you hold the home button and the power button together. iPhone 7 and 7 Plus users will have to hold the home and volume buttons in order to reset the phone. Once rebooted, everything goes back to normal. Just don’t play that video again!

In order to know how it works, here’s a video that shows how the bug affects an iPhone:
