Sooryavanshi has really opened up with a bang in theatres and already crossed the 100 Crore mark within a week of its release.

Not only that, the Akshay Kumar starrer has succeeded in creating a universe of Supercops that involve other and older big names like Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn, who actually kickstarted the series with Singham.

Now, director Rohit Shetty, who is known to be put his heart and soul into making movies with insane action sequences, has revealed exactly the plan behind the movie series.

Rohit, who also has the Golmaal movie franchise under his name, has sort of mentioned the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the same breath as the cop universes of Sooryavanshi, Singham, and Simmba.

Speaking about his vision for the cop universe, Rohit said that he and his team took the decision to start the universe with Ranveer Singh's Simmba, as they thought the younger audience had a better understanding of it because of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“We decided to make a cop universe during Simmba. The younger generation has started understanding this concept due to the Marvel Universe. So we took the risk and went ahead with it. And now, people have accepted this as a universe too.” Rohit said.

The director also mentioned how he wanted Akshay's Sooryavanshi to be a different kind of cop film to Singham and Simmba.

“I didn’t want Sooryavanshi to look like Singham or Simmba. When people give you so much love, you can’t cheat them by making the same thing. We have to expand. The scale of Sooryavanshi is equivalent to all three cop universe films that we have made,” he exults and adds.

Rohit is also happy at the fact that Sooryavanshi has been successful in reviving the state of cinema halls that were hit hard by the pandemic.

“Obviously, it was challenging and a big risk but I had to take the risk and had to fight. Today, we are sitting with all the happiness and success,” he said.
