Horror has been a genre that hasn’t been tackled well in Hindi cinema for decades. The bad storylines, abysmal CGI and stories with no backbone simply add to the misery of this particular genre. 

However, Nushrratt Bharuccha’s Chhorii, just like Stree, is nothing like most horror movies we have seen in the past in Bollywood. 

It’s a movie with a cause and a story that needed to be told with a horror element.

In the film, Nushrratt Bharuccha plays a pregnant woman who is forced to go into hiding and lands up in a house of horrors with its hidden mystery. 

If you think the trailer was worth the watch, we can guarantee you that the movie will leave an impact on you. 

The underlying theme of the movie is to do with female liberation and how women who were tormented for ages finally find their calling. 

Without giving away any spoilers, the powerful ending of the movie will leave a cathartic effect on you and will compel you to think about society’s evil practices.

In the movie, the motifs and the metaphors have been used very intelligently as the director decided to show a field of sugarcane as the society that chokes you with its expectations leaving no way out. 

The horror house is used as a mirror to make you realize that some evil practices are still needed to be dealt with and we all have to come together for the cause. 

There are jump scares in the movie but its delayed attempt at building up the climax is the only shortcoming that the movie fell prey to. However, it doesn’t take away any credit from the director and the actors as they give a stellar performance. 

Goes without saying that Nushrratt Bharuccha gives a solid performance in Chhorii, which has given her a chance to show the versatile capabilities she has as an actor. She has evolved through the years and her emotions are the anchor to the developments in the story. 

Mita Vashisht also puts up a strong act. Saurabh Goyal and Rajesh Jais also play their parts commendably. 

We totally recommend the movie and not just us, people on social media are also rooting for the movie. 

People are appreciating Nushratt’s performance and they are impressed by the fresh take the film displays on the horror genre. Some are even calling it 2021’s best movie, so far.
