Kapil Sharma married Ginni Chatrath in 2018 and the couple has two beautiful daughters. 

The comedian has spoken openly about his wife only a few times on his show and interviews and has confessed that she is his support system who has been with him right from the start. 

However, we don’t know much about their love story, except the fact that they met in a theatre group.

Recently, a promo from his Netflix stand-up special I’m Not Done Yet was posted on Instagram where he was seen sharing with the audience about how he proposed to her. And, like a lot of his stories, this too had something to do with alcohol. We are not surprised.

Giving the backstory about how they knew each other, he said, "She was my favourite actress. We used to do theatre together. I used to assign her a lot of work. She used to call me and report what happened and how many rehearsals they did.”

“One day she called me up. I had had some Officer's Choice (a whisky brand). High thoughts! As soon as I picked up, I asked, 'Do you love me?' She was taken aback and said, 'What!? Ye aadmi me himmat kaise aa gayi (How did this man get so much courage)?' 

I am thankful I didn't drink toddy (a beverage with mild alcohol) that day. Otherwise, my question would have been, 'Ginni tere papa ko driver chahiye? (Ginni, does your father need a driver)?'"

Ginni stays away from the limelight and is not seen even on Kapil’s talk show, unlike his mother who sits in the audience. 

However, for this stand-up special show, which happens to be his OTT debut, Ginni was seen not only rooting for him in the audience but also interacting and responding to his questions in a fun way.

When he asked her why she chose to marry a man with a scooter, despite belonging to a well-off family, she said, “I thought everyone marries a rich guy, let me do some charity for this poor man.” 

This proves Kapil has truly met his match when it comes to the humour department!
