A dialogue on mental health has finally begun worldwide but there’s still time before people are made aware of what depression really is and most importantly, how it’s not just a synonym for sadness. Suffering from depression is a lot more complex and crippling that just being sad. It’s not a mood-swing, it can’t be described the same way as ‘feeling low’.

Depression is a legitimate medical condition. Just in case you didn’t already know, the symptoms of depression aren’t just mental, it has physical implication too. A sudden loss in appetite, sleeping too much or not sleeping at all, losing interest in life in general account for the strongest and the most recognizable symptoms. People who are depressed aren’t weak. They’re just suffering from a disease. Depression also works differently for everyone. A person suffering from depression is struggling with life each and every moment, whether or not seemingly so.
