Poetry, like music, speaks directly to the soul. In our modern world, where our bank balances, religious beliefs and societal conventions do most of the thinking for us, the voice of the poet has become as important as that of the seer. Much of the poetry we read in books has been dismissed as a lost art by now, but the young millennial poets of today are re-inventing the form and how. From rejecting religious politics to shattering gender stereotypes, these young poets are voicing our deepest fears, biggest worries, innermost feelings. They are talking about taboos we were too afraid to talk about, truths we were to busy to see. We pick out 14 contemporary poets who are rekindling our love of poetry, one Insta post at a time.
