Did you know that you can apparently buy stuff like tanks online? Yeah, me neither. But this tank fanatic literally struck gold when he got a new model in a £30,000 trade-in. Nick Mead, 55, was restoring the Russian T54/69 with his friend, Todd Chamberlain, 50, when they discovered the five gold bars, amounting to be about £2million.

Mead wasn’t messing around with this stuff, he already has 150 military vehicles under his belt. He runs Tanks-a-lot, which basically gives regular people an experience of driving any of his tanks on his farm in Helmdon.

While exploring his new purchase, he decided to film the whole thing as he was concerned that there might be weapons concealed somewhere in the tank, and if so, his footage would be helpful to the bomb disposal crew.

Both Mead and Chamberlain were going through the tank and found machine gun ammunition. Then, they decided to look inside the petrol tank and instead of finding any more ammunition, they found something a whole lot better. They discovered 5 solid gold bars worth a whopping £2 million.

They believe that the gold was looted by Iraqi soldiers in Kuwait during the Gulf War. Nick said, "They must have cut a hole in the fuel tank and rammed it full of gold bars."

While talking to the Sun, he said, "We didn't know what to do. You can't exactly take five gold bullion bars down to Cash Converters without questions being asked, so we called the police."

Even though the Police took away the gold bars, they provided him with a receipt. He added, "Even if I don't get any of the gold back, I will still have my beautiful tank."
