Netflix released the trailer of 'Delhi Crime' which traces the events of the unfortunate Nirbhaya rape case of December 2012.
The seven part series stars Shefali Shah who plays Varthika Chaturvedi, a police officer who headed the investigation and takes the audience deep into the entire investigation of the case which shook the nation in grave horror. On 16th December 2012, a young woman was returning home with her friend when she was gang raped by six men in a bus and the two friends were thrown to die on the road later. The event stirred a nation wide protest and pressurised the government and the police to push for justice for the girl and her family.
Shefali has done a stellar job with the role and this trailer gives us a glimpse of what actually happened during the chase and run between the police and the criminals, the state of the girl's family, and the nation wide protests which reflected the brutal frustration of the common man with the loopholes of the system in India. Our country is still known as one of the most unsafe countries for women in the world and it's high time we, as a nation, do something about it. The series premieres on 22nd March on Netflix.
