Actors joining politics is not a new thing anymore. We have seen many actors turning into politicians and are doing pretty great. The latest one to join the bandwagon is none other than 'Gadar' actor Sunny Deol.
Last Friday, Deol met Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Amit Shah and since then, there were speculations that he might join the political party. Well, we all know that Deols have been pretty famous in the Punjab circuit, as Sunny's father Dharmendra had also tried his hands in politics when he had contested for Lok Sabha polls from Bikaner, Rajasthan, in 2004.
The actor joined the BJP in the presence of Union ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Piyush Goyal. Going by reports, he will likely contest from Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency. Gurdaspur was the constituency of veteran actor Vinod Khanna, who died in 2017.
Sunny Deol is the third member of his family, after Dharmendra and his wife Hema Malini, to join politics. After joining BJP, Sunny said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done a lot for the country and he wishes that he remains PM for another five years. He also added that just the way his father supported Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he is there to support PM Modi.
