OnePlus has officially confirmed the launch date of its next smartphone and in all likelihood, it will be called the OnePlus 7. There's a good chance that the company will launch multiple devices; one rumoured being the OnePlus 7 Pro. The new smartphones will be unveiled on 14th May in three different countries at the same time — including India.

Just a few days ago Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus said that the next smartphone will have a huge focus on the the display of the device. This probably means that the OnePlus 7 or the OnePlus 7 Pro will have a high quality screen on their devices. According to rumours, the OnePlus 7 Pro is going to have a QHD+ 90 Hz AMOLED display and will be as expensive as flagship devices.

Pete Lau spoke to our sister website, the Economic Times and said:

“To provide consumers more choice and meet the needs of a broader audience, we've changed our launch strategy, but our commitment to premium products and experiences remains the same.”

In terms of other specifications, the OnePlus 7 will have a significant upgrade over the OnePlus 6 as it will ship with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and will be paired with 8 to 10 GB of RAM.

The OnePlus 7 Pro is expected to have 12GB of RAM which may be a bit of an overkill. There's also a good chance that the Pro variant will have a pop-up selfie camera and a full-view display as the company decides to ditch the notch design from the OnePlus 6T
