'Iron Man' actor Robert Downey Jr. played the role of a scientist for the past 11 years. But recently while speaking at Amazon's Re:Mars conference at Las Vegas, he literally convinced us that he's becoming 'Tony Stark' in real life by launching a new initiative to clean the world.

During his gag-filled talk that somehow weaved together the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, RDJ announced the launch of a new initiative called Footprint Coalition to clean up our planet.

“Between robotics and nanotechnology, we could clean up the planet significantly, if not totally, in 10 years”, Downey Jr. said. So yes, he's going to use robots (hopefully they look like Iron Man) and nanotechnology to clean the Earth and reverse its carbon footprint in a decade.

He didn't share any details on how the organization plans to achieve its goal. However, he did say that even a small dent could be the most important thing he had ever done. The official website of Footprint Coalition also went live soon after his announcement, but we can only see a signup form for their newsletter as of now.

Downey Jr's talk during the keynote was particularly interesting because he discussed artificial intelligence, MCU, the evolution of Tony Stark and his own career too. He also talked about the past that landed him incarcerated on drug charges until he cleaned up in rehab treatment. “Quick disclaimer, I don't pretend to understand the complexities we face as a species, just because I portrayed a genius in my professional life. My scholastic achievement peaked at a correctional finishing”, he said.

The 20-plus minute announcement during the keynote also featured Amazon's Alexa and Matt Daemon, who joined via video. This, by the way, isn't the first time Downey Jr. has taken AI and advanced technology to do something for the world. Together with his wife Susan Downey, he is also producing a docu-series for YouTube, exploring AI and the impact it will have on people's lives.
