Rohit Sharma Says 'Ben Stokes' To Umpire, Promises To Check The Camera Before Abusing Next Time

Following a tame loss in the first match, the Indian cricket team produced a strong batting show to script an emphatic eight-wicket win over the visiting Bangladesh side in the 2nd Twenty20 International (T20I) at the Vidarbha Cricket Association stadium in Rajkot.

The impressive spells from Yuzvendra Chahal (2-28), Washington Sundar (1-25) and Deepak Chahar (1-25) ensured the visitors couldn't score more than 153 runs at the loss of six wickets after being asked to bat first. In reply, a captain's knock from Rohit, who slammed a strokeful 43-ball 85, and supporting knocks from Shikhar Dhawan (31) and Shreyas Iyer (24*) powered India home with 26 deliveries to spare.

While India managed to shrug off their defeat in the first T20I and levelled the proceedings 1-1 in the three-match series, the second match at Rajkot gave the hosts certain moments to regret. The Indian fielders were pretty sloppy on the field, conceding runs through extra throws, and even the Indian captain dropped a catch inside the 30-yard circle. But, apart from that, there were two incidents that couldn't go unnoticed.

Rishabh Pant's blunder behind the stumps was probably the one that stood out when he made a complete mess of a simple stumping opportunity. The young wicketkeeper failed to keep his gloves behind the stumps before collecting the ball, which eventually denied Chahal and, in turn, Team India Liton Das' certain wicket

The other moment was a forgetful one for Indian captain Rohit who struggled to contain his emotions and eventually ended up swearing at the third umpire. The incident occurred in the 13th over when Pant, making amends for his blunder earlier, stumped Soumya Sarkar off Chahal's delivery.

The on-field umpires initially ruled the Bangladeshi batsman out before referring it upstairs just to be sure. The replays clearly showed Sarkar short at the crease, but, by mistake, the third umpire ruled the batsman 'not out'. As soon as the decision was flashed on the giant screen, an infuriated Rohit, who was standing next to the on-field umpires, was caught swearing at the third umpire who eventually changed his decision to 'out'.

“I'm quite an emotional guy on the field. Some of the decisions in the previous and some of the on-field moments today, we were a bit sloppy. Ultimately the aim is to get the job done, and sometimes we display a lot of emotions. Next time I'll check where the camera is," Rohit said after the match.
