Widespread protests continue to take place across the country, as more and more students take to the streets to protest against Citizenship (Amendment) Act. As the number of people and hashtags on social media continue to grow in numbers, people have complaints from their beloved celebrities for their silence on the issue. They want their favourite actors and actresses to voice their views.
In the list of celebrities who condemned the violent clash between Jamia students and Delhi police during the protest, another name got added today. That name is of 'Desi Girl' Priyanka Chopra.

Priyanka broke her silence today and took to social media to share her opinion and said "Every voice counts." The tweet shared by her mentioned, "Education for every child is our dream. Education is what empowered them to think independently. We have raised them to have a voice. In a thriving democracy, to raise one's voice peacefully and be met with violence is wrong. Every voice counts. And each voice will work towards changing India. #HaveVoiceWillRaise #HaveVoiceMustRaise".
— PRIYANKA (@priyankachopra) December 18, 2019Celebrities like Farhan Akhtar, Hrithik Roshan, Dia Mirza, Anurag Kashyap, Richa Chadha, Vishal Bhardwaj and even Hollywood actor John Cusack, are a few names who earlier came forward to voice their opinion on the issue.
However, Priyanka Chopra's opinion has left her fans divided on social media. While some are welcoming her views and thanking her for saying this, others are bashing her for speaking her mind.
That's how intellectual women speak. Thanks for speaking up PC â¤

The Citizenship (Amendment) Act grants citizenship to the Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhist, Jains and Parsis, who were facing religious persecution in countries Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The students are protesting the act because they feel that the act is "unconstitutional and divisive" as it does not include Muslims.
