After Winning A Golden Globe For Best Actor, Joaquin Phoenix Gave The Boldest Speech Ever

The 77th Golden Globe Awards just took place in Hollywood and we weren't shocked with the results. Well, at least not where Joaquin Phoenix was concerned! The actor won a Golden Globe for best actor in a motion picture drama for his role as a troubled Arthur Fleck in Joker.

While winning the award is one thing, giving one hell of an acceptance speech is another and that's exactly what Phoenix ended up doing at the Beverly Hills Hotel. After acknowledging his fellow nominees in his speech, Phoenix, who has never been keen on award shows as such said- "There is no F***ing best actor".

He also went on to thank Todd Philips, the writer and director of Joker and also said, "I'm such a pain in the ass, I cannot believe you put up with me.” in his speech. Even though a lot of his speech was bleeped while he was on stage (since he used a lot of 'F-word'), he nailed the way he delivered every aspect of it. The words chosen and the sentiments behind those words, everything was appreciated not just by the audience present there but by the Twitter world as well.

"Contrary to popular belief I don't want to rock the boat. The boat is fucking rocked," is one of the things he said. Phoenix even talked about climate change where he thanked the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for its meat-free meal, while stating "recognizing and acknowledging the link between animal agriculture and climate change. It's a very bold move, making tonight plant-based,”

"We don't have to take private jets to Palm Springs ... I'll try to do better, and I hope you will too." the vegan actor added.

Not only did Phoenix think the awards are quite useless in general, he also talked about social issues everyone should be concentrating on currently. And he did all this while still celebrating the work of his fellow nominees. Quite an actor, if I may say so myself! Obviously the Twitter fraternity lauded his speech and praised it to no extent!

Joaquin Phoenix, maybe the actor of his generation, calls out Hollywood, on live television, for using private jets, but then gets cut off by the orchestra. This is why I hate the Globes.

Some people weren't truly pleased with his speech.

Joaquin Phoenix's speech is basically a blank mad lib

And here's some more love for him.

Joaquin Phoenix has officially won the Golden Globe for Best Actor (Drama) for JOKER. I want to fucking cry. Heath Ledger would be so incredibly proud tonight.

Easily the most acclaimed & beloved lead performance of the year. This is Joaquin's Oscar to win. #GoldenGlobes pic.twitter.com/p0YtVzr2o9

While his speech got a lot of love and hate, we're more concerned about what he's going to come out with in 2020 and whatever it is, we hope it's as good as his role as Arthur Fleck in Joker.
