Every year, Vivo comes up with some crazy ideas to showcase its engineering prowess. Last year, we saw the Vivo Apex phone with no buttons on its body. This year, Vivo is teasing to showcase a new phone that has a built-in 'Gimbal camera'.

The Vivo Apex 2020 concept phone was expected to be unveiled at MWC 2020. But since the expo was cancelled, Vivo will now be holding a standalone event to show the phone to the world. This new concept phone will be unveiled this Friday, but the teasers for the MWC event and a few other leaks tell us that the phone will have a 48MP 'Gimbal Camera'.

Well, most smartphones, at least the high-end ones, come with optical image stabilisation (OIS) these days. OIS is basically like the miniature version of a gimbal, but it's nice to see someone taking the tech to the next level.

The ads, as you can see, also mention â5-7.5x optical zoomâ capabilities. The sensors certainly look very promising and we can't wait to check it out in hand.

That being said, the Vivo Apex line-up is more like the company's concept series where we see a bunch of new features dumped into its phones. It's not necessary that all that tech seen in these phones will make its way to future phones. Most of the time, it's not practical to have such premium features on an average phone, so we won't be surprised to see this particular camera feature being exclusive to the Vivo concept.
