NBA Player Touched Reporters Mics As A Coronavirus Prank, 2 Days Later He Actually Got It

Coronavirus is the new scare in the world which has taken over every major event in the world

Be it the Olympics, the Euro Cup, and now even the National Basketball Association (NBA) has come under the radar of the deadly virus.

However, one of the players from the league, Rudy Gobert has been diagnosed with the now-pandemic disease. The Utah Jazz centre was found to be tested positive Thursday morning after the match between the Jazz and the Oklahoma City Thunder was cancelled.

Ironically, Gobert took the virus a bit too lightly a couple of days before the test when after a press conference, he jokingly touched microphones and other audio devices which were kept in front of him as if he was going to give the reporters and other journalists the highly contagious disease.

Well, based on his result, his immature prank might just have become a reality and those poor journalists might also be infected.

Ever since Gobertâs reports went public, the entire Jazz roster has been kept in quarantine and their opponents for the day, the OKC Thunder, led by Chris Paul are also put under the microscope.

Before tipoff, CP3 reportedly went over to the Jazz bench and asked "What's wrong with Rudy?â

They all told him to get away. All the players are now quarantined in their locker rooms and are being tested for the coronavirus, per @royceyoung pic.twitter.com/eQ5x16l1iu

After Gobert, the NBA, as a league, did not take too long to officially announce the suspension of the entire season after having contemplated carrying our regular-season games behind closed doors and banning fans from entering the stadiums.

âThe NBA announced that a player on the Utah Jazz has preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19. The test result was reported shortly prior to the tip-off of tonightâs game between the Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder at Chesapeake Energy Arena. At that time, tonightâs game was canceled. The affected player was not in the arena,â read the press release issued by the league.

âThe NBA is suspending game play following the conclusion of tonightâs schedule of games until further notice. The NBA will use this hiatus to determine next steps for moving forward in regard to the coronavirus pandemic.â

Despite the childish joke which put the lives of numerous reporters at risk, hereâs hoping Rudy speedy recovery and wish the best of health to all those who could have come in contact with the virus through him.
