5 Times Khiladi Akshay & Not-So-Anari Saif Proved To Be The Best 'Jodi' Of The 90s In Bollywood

The 90s was a great time for everyone who was introduced to the magic of colour TV, cable connection, bell bottoms, great music and even better cinema. While multi hero movies are not much of a trend in Bollywood right now, when we were growing up, watching an entourage of faces in a movie was a fun fan moment every 90s kid savoured. Talking about the most famous ‘jodis’ of the 90s, I have a special place in my memory for watching double hero movies, especially the ones starring current super stars, Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar. Here are 5 times when the two lit up our screens and made us love this ‘jodi’ even more:

1. Main Khiladi Tu Anadi

All of us danced to this song with our friends and siblings. This 1994 hit has Akshay playing a police officer looking for the guy who murdered his brother. Saif plays the goofy actor who is casually hanging out with this police officer to catch this ‘vibe’ for a character he wants to play.

2. Keemat

Saif and Akshay play brothers turned con artists who end up in a weird situation when they meet a family to inform them about the accidental demise of their son. This duo never failed to entertain the audience. Even though the movie was not a commercial hit, just watching them in action was fun!

3. Yeh Dillagi

Another hit movie which has this ‘jodi’ play brothers stuck in a love triangle with Kajol as the female lead. If there was one thing I’d get back from the 90s movies, it would be a personal petition to watch them both in action all over again.

4. Aarzoo

Akshay and Saif play lovers to Madhuri in this 1999 movie where things take a sour turn when the female lead decides to marry her childhood friend only to find out that her alleged fiancé has returned from the dead.

5. Tu Chor Main Sipahi

Basically we’ve drawn a conclusion that this ‘jodi’ worked best in an action setting and this movie is another example of their chemistry. This cat and mouse chase has Akshay playing a police officer running after the ‘chor’ played by Saif.

It's fair to conclude that Akshay and Saif’s chemistry had more sparks than any other 90s ‘jodi’ out there and while they did share the screen space in Tashan once again, it's been close to a decade since any producer thought of putting them in one frame. Hope someone listens to us and makes it happen!
