Darshan Raval Talks About His New Album 'Judaiyaan' & Healthy Artist-Producer Relationships

Darshan Raval is an Indian singer, composer, lyricist, and actor. His first on-screen appearance was in the reality show India's Raw Star.ย ย

Recently, he came out with his much-awaited album Judaiyaan on Triller. We recently caught up with him to learn more about his album and his career trajectory.

1. What can you tell us about your new album? What has inspired you and what's the story that you're trying to put across?

The entire theme of the album is around the concept of Judaiyaan. During the lockdown period, we've been forced to be away from the people we love and the places we love to visit, we were separated from everything we loved.ย

Love has always been an important part of all my songs. This is how the idea for the Judaiyaan album was conceived.

2. As rave as the reviews for your music is, there is also a growing fan base for your sense of fashion. Is fashion something you have a keen interest in?

For me, fashion is my comfort zone. I should feel comfortable and not worry about what I am wearing.ย

3. How tough is it to break into the industry? What advice would you give to young artists out there trying to make it in the Indian music scene?

Each industry is built because of the people in it and their talent. If you are talented and have a passion for it then you shouldnโ€™t worry about it.ย

Hard work always pays. Patience and perseverance are key.

4. A growing debate in the industry is centred around artist-producer relationships and whether producers get enough credit.

Music producers, I feel, are the least credited people as compared to the credit that a composer and singer get.ย

In my team, I have Siddharth Bavsar and Anmol Daniel who have been producing music for me this year and I am thankful for the sound they give to my music. Producers have an equivalent role in the song.

5. What's your creative process like? Is it more spontaneous and free-flowing?

Yes. I donโ€™t have strategies or methods. My music is based on emotions, it is spontaneous. Itโ€™s a spiritual process for me.ย

6. Can you talk about the #Judaiyaan campaign on Triller and some of the entries that you loved?

ย I wanted to see people's interpretations of Judaiyaan in their way. I loved the way people were dancing, narrating their stories on it. They turned the song into their story.
