7 Hilarious Movies From The 2000s That Prove Bollywood Just Doesn't Do Comedies Like It Used To

Bollywood just doesn't do it like it used to before. The quality of movies recently has really deteriorated, especially comedy movies. There are fewer and fewer iconic movies coming out now and it's honestly sad to see that we don't get that quality content anymore.

Back in the 2000s, there was one memorable movie coming out after another and most of them still hold up. If a movie like Welcome or Hera Pheri is on TV, you better believe that so many people are rewatching it for the hundredth time.

So, here's looking back at the movies that made comedy peak over a decade ago:

1. Khosla Ka Ghosla

What a freaking movie. The plot, the performances, the relatable portrayal of the average person. This movie managed to be hilarious and real at the same time.

Anupam Kher and sons tricking Boman Irani into giving back the land he illegally took from them is a work of art. What a wholesome movie that anyone can fully enjoy with their entire family.

2. Oye Lucky Lucky Oye

Abhay Deol is one of the best yet the most underrated actors of our time. The guy does such great movies, giving us so many unique stories and hardly ever gets the appreciation he deserves.

He's so lovable he made us all root for the 'superchor' in this movie and the entire movie is just straight-up brilliant.

3. Welcome

This movie is one of the most quotable movies to ever come out of Bollywood and it being so relevant, even after over a decade, definitely makes it a classic.

Uday Shetty and Majnu Bhai are some of the most bizarre characters and they work so perfectly in the movie.

And, this was the golden time where Akshay Kumar did so many movies and all of them were perfect.

4. Garam Masala

The perfect situational comedy full of miscommunications and visual gags, this movie honestly doesn't get the love it truly deserves.

Akshay Kumar and John Abraham have more chemistry than so many iconic Bollywood pairings and their dynamic in this movie makes it a great watch.

Moreover, the entire running around scenes with all the women in the house, just missing each other, can make anyone laugh out loud.

5. Golmaal

The first Golmaal movie was a masterpiece, and not just compared to all the sequels that came after that. The absurd plot, the over the top acting, wasooli bhai, it makes for a hilarious movie.

This really should've been a one-hit-wonder because the sequels really did not add more to the legacy of the first one.

6. Bheja Fry

It feels like Vinay Pathak plays a similar character in every movie he is in, and he plays it really, really well.

This is another movie that we probably haven't thought of in a while, but it really should get a lot more credit. The small budget movie did a lot of big things back in 2007 and the hilarious movie is very well worth the watch.

7. Hungama

All Priyadarshan movies have in common is that chaotic ending with all the characters together at one place.

So much miscommunication, so much confusion, so many Anjalis - the movie obviously ended with a hilarious showdown and the end of a love triangle.

These are the kind of wholesome comedies that really need to come back.

Bollywood, do better, please.
