A tiny and stupid mistake can cost you a lot, and for 18-year-old Siddhant Batra, it resulted in him losing his seat for the four-year electrical engineering course in the prestigious IIT Bombay.

A few days ago, his story became popular after it was revealed that he lost his precious seat after he accidentally clicked on the wrong link during the admission process which ended up withdrawing him from the process.

While there were a lot of negative people online who considered this fair, because why not lose your entire future over a stupid mistake, it was great to see a lot of support for him.

People used the hashtag #JusticeForSiddhant to get him back his well-deserved seat.

And, looks like there's still some hope for him as even the Supreme Court has come to his rescue and has now directed IIT Bombay to provide him with an interim admission.

He had secured admission after getting an All India Rank (AIR) of 270 in JEE Advanced exams. In his petition, he detailed how he intended to freeze his seat, but withdrew it instead and asked for his case to be considered on humanitarian grounds, and requested the creation of an additional seat to undo his loss.

The petition said, "On October 31, 2020, when he was surfing the IIT portal to check for further updates, he came upon a link which carried a declaration that read ‘I would like to withdraw from the seat allocation process of JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority."

Something positive we all needed.

Sometimes SC makes it's presence felt just like the almighty.
Poor boy deserved it.
Some positives like this give us hope.#India
