At the time when the schedule of India's tour of Australia was announced, everyone knew that the four-match Test series was going to be the biggest challenge for the visitors.
To make things worse, India were without key players like Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma. But, there was no excuse for the tourists after being bowled out for just 36 runs during their eight-wicket loss in Adelaide.
If losing the first Test had put them on the backfoot early in the series, India playing the second Test without their regular skipper Virat Kohli, had everyone further convinced about their potential downfall.
But, contrary to popular perception, Ajinkya Rahane-led India staged a comeback for the ages following their eight-wicket win at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
