Rollable And Foldable Phones At CES 2021 Shows What Future Smartphones May Look Like

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2021 has just begun and we're already flooded with a ton of new gadgets and announcements. One thing in particular that stood out to us this year so far is the number of rollable and foldable phones that we've seen.

LG started off by teasing us with a look at the LG Rollable. The Rollable phone, although looks like a concept, is very much a real thing and it's apparently coming out this year. They basically showed off a phone with an expanding display and it looks something straight out of a sci-fi movie.

LG hasn't mentioned a thing about this phone but just its mere existence has us super excited and we can't wait to check it out in person. We really hope LG manages to couple it with some solid specs to compete with other flagships on the market.

Moving on, TCL also showcased a very interesting rollable phone, however, this one's a concept and we're not entirely sure if it'll make its way to the market. TCL is not new to these form factors as the company has already toyed with the idea of displays with different form factors but the new ones look very promising.

In addition to the rollable phone, TCL also showcased a scrolling display with a 100% color gamut. TCL said its technology can be used for flexible, curved, and foldable displays.

It wouldn't be CES without TCL showing off some future tech concepts! This is the AMOLED Rollable Display: It can extend from 6.7" to 7.8" with a tap of the finger. #CES2021 @TCL_USA @TCLMobileGlobal pic.twitter.com/Gtxihs7eDD

Overall, we got to see some solid new devices that gave us a glimpse into the future of smartphones. Of course, LG and TCL aren't going to be the only ones to announce these new devices and plenty of new manufacturers will show up over the next few days. It'll be interesting to see what kind of unique phones we get this year in addition to standard Galaxy and iPhones.
