The highly anticipated first look of Liger, which was earlier titled Fighter, starring Vijay Devarkonda in the lead role, was out on Monday morning and fans on social media are super thrilled.

Sharing the poster on his Instagram account, Vijay wrote, “Humbly announcing our arrival Pan India! Someone with my background shouldn’t have reached anywhere near here according to the conventions & set Norms. But with sheer madness, passion, hardwork, Here we are! (sic)”

Interestingly, the film marks Devarkonda’s Bollywood debut and is one of the most awaited projects of the year. Directed by Puri Jagannadh, the film is helmed by various producers like Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Tollywood actress Charmme Kaur and Apoorva Mehta.

For the unversed, in his last film iSmart Shankar, Puri Jagannadh had shown Ram Pothineni in a whole new avatar that was a deviance from his usual boy-next-door roles. Now fans across the country expect the same for Vijay Deverakonda in this much-awaited film.

In the first look that was shared on social media, Vijay Devarakonda looks absolutely killer while donning the look of a boxer. The film also features Ananya Pandey opposite Vijay.

Meanwhile ever since the poster was made available online, people on Twitter started pouring in mixed reactions.

As per the reports, Liger is scheduled to be released in five different languages including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.

Meanwhile, talking about the film in one of his interviews, Deverakonda had said that it is an out-and-out commercial film which no one has attempted before.

Here's a fun fact for all you Vijay fans - liger is an animal that’s a mixed breed of lion and tiger and the film’s story seems to hint that Vijay’s character will be of mixed heritage.

Shooting for the film was in progress in Mumbai before the COVID-19 pandemic with pictures of Vijay and Ananya Pandey on a bike and a boat leaked online and that got fans excited. However, it is yet to be picked up after the lockdown and further details on the shooting and release date are awaited.

The Dear Comrade star will be seen as a boxer and clearly, he has worked hard to get into the skin of his character. We are totally excited about this one. What about you?
