Ayushmann Khurrana knows very well how to completely immerse himself into the characters that he plays. Nowhere is this any clearer than his getups for his films.

Recently, Ayushmann shared his look from his upcoming film Anek, being directed by Anubhav Sinha, and the first thing we have to say is that Ayushmann looks rather dope as Joshua, the character he is slated to play.

While not a lot of is known about the film’s plot, and characters, what we do know, is that the film is based is Kaziranga in Assam, and like all of Sinha’s films of late, it will be a cracker of a film.

Coming to Ayushmann’s look for the film, we have to admit, the vibe that one gets from his look is eerily similar to that of Danny Archer, played by Leonardo DiCaprio in the 2006 film, Blood Diamond.

We like how the hairstyle and the beard give away the brutal and tough setting in which the film is based. The shoddy looking, jarring haircut, further adds to the rugged appeal that Ayushmann is going for.

The haphazard manner in which the crewcut he went for is executed makes it look like his character has cut his own hair. If this is indeed the case, we have to admit, that the choppiness of the hairstyle, further adds to the jarring and rugged appeal.

We also like the way his beard looks rather distinct. The jarring-quality with which his beard meets his sideburns is also super dope.

Then, there is the scar on his right eyebrow. Not only does it look super cool, it again, but also adds to the ruggedness of Ayushmann’s character.

Normally, in the films where he has kept his beard, Ayushmann has groomed it meticulously well. His beard styles tend to be neat, properly defined, and within proper lines.

For this film, his beard lacks that same attention to detail, and definition, which further takes away from the urban and sophisticated aesthetic that the filmmakers are trying to get rid off. 

We also like the fact that he has decided to keep the greys in his beard, just as they are. We think more actors need to embrace their greys, even if it is for a character they are playing.

All in all, Ayushmann looks rather swell as Joshua. It would be interesting to see how many of these visual cues from Ayushmann’s look actually correspond to plot points in the film.
