People on the internet are ruthless. When someone thinks they can hide behind a screen and say anything they want, they think they are invincible. And, the result of facing no consequences is a lot of trolling and abusing.

Back in 2014, former tennis champion Maria Sharapova had to face the wrath of Indians because of one single thing she said. 

After saying she did not know who Sachin Tendulkar was, she was flooded with hate messages for her 'ignorance'.

Yes, the legendary cricketer has been everyone's idol for a long, long time and any kind of disrespect towards him was not tolerated by his fans. 

Maria's only fault was not knowing who Sachin was and people did not like that one bit.

But, it's been seven years and a lot has happened. Actually, a lot has happened in the last couple of days, that has changed most of the fans' perception of their 'God' Sachin, and people are absolutely gutted.

When pop star Rihanna and activist Greta Thunberg showed their support for the ongoing farmers' protest, one of the largest protests in the world, a lot of people from the Bollywood industry and multiple sports personalities came out to condemn the 'outsiders' for interfering in 'India's internal matters'.

While that in itself wouldn't have been a problem, people were quick to call out that none of these people broke their apolitical rule when farmers were protesting for months and when they did finally speak, everyone said the exact same thing in almost the same exact words. 

People were able to call out the bluff and could clearly tell that it wasn't actually the celebrities sharing their own personal opinions. 

One of these celebs was none other than Sachin, and his fans, who consist of almost every single person in the country, were not angry at him, but extremely disappointed.

They have been idolizing the iconic cricketer since they could remember but his one tweet from a couple of days ago has everyone agreeing with Maria Sharapova and saying even they don't know who Sachin is. 

Rectifying their mistake of criticizing Maria years ago, people from Kerala seem to have flooded her Facebook page with apologies.
