12 Things Rishabh Pant Said Today To Keep Indian Fans Entertained On A Dull Day Of Cricket

In the past couple of years of watching Rishabh Pant play international cricket for the Indian cricket team, it is well established that the 23-year-old athlete can talk… a lot.

The first time Pant’s ability to do commentary from behind the stumps was highlighted was probably during the 2018-19 Border-Gavaskar Trophy when he started an exciting yet respectful banter with Australia red-ball skipper Tim Paine when he called the Aussie a “temporary captain”.

However, since that moment in his career, Pant has only gotten better with the skill of coming up with impromptu one-liners and numerous ways to keep his teammates motivated and not let the pressure of an international Test get too overwhelming for them.

On day one of the first Test between India and England at Chennai’s Chepauk stadium, Pant managed to keep the fans entertained and the rest of the Men in Blue motivated through all three sessions.

Here are the top 12 things Pant said on Day 1 of the first Test:

1. "Mera naam hai Washington, Mereko jana hai DC," Pant said to Washington Sundar while the latter was in the middle of a bowling spell.

2. “Khud se kuch nahi hota idhar, karna padta hai,” to keep the morale of the bowlers high as they were unable to break the partnership of Joe Root and Dom Sibley.

3. "Chalo yaar andar walo, mahol banao chalo chalo chalo," motivating the fielders positioned inside the 30-yard circle to get more active while reacting to a strong shot.

4. "Body language neeche ho rahi hai," to dust away the cobwebs late on Day 1 and bring focus back to the ground.

5. "Bhaiyon kya ho gaya, toda tight ho jao," to challenge his teammates to get sharper on the ground after a set of grave misfields.

6. "Yeh do shot hi maarega, sweep ya reverse,” while talking to Shahbaaz Nadeem while predicting Joe Root’s plan.

7. “Udhar se fasega toh mazza aaega,” to Ashwin to suggest ways to deliver a ball.

8. “Hawaa aa gayi hai, ghoomegi,” while talking to Ishant Sharma, suggesting the ball will swing because of wind.

9. “Come on Ash/ Come on Aisha,” to Ravichandran Ashwin before every ball he delivered.

10. “Bhagna Padega Puj,” to Cheteshwar Pujara while the fielder was sprinting behind the ball in full speed but failed to prevent a boundary.

11. “Pujjender - Nadendar,” nicknames given to Cheteshwar Pujara and Shahbaaz Nadeem

12. “Kya solid shin hai, kya shin hai,” to Rohit Sharma for stopping the ball with his shinbone.
