Day 1 of the first Test match between India and England at Chennai’s Chepauk stadium ended up in favour of the touring side led by skipper Joe Root who looked like an undefeatable titan with his massive century, even though his legs began to cramp up by the final session.
View this post on InstagramClubbed with the forces of opening batsman Dom Sibley who smashed 87 in the first innings, the duo went on to establish a 200-run partnership and got the Englishmen back in contention after losing the wickets of Rory Burns and Dan Lawrance quickly in the first session.
If on the other hand you are a fan of the Indian side, the day turned out to be a bit of a dull and disheartening even, as the Men in Blue failed to break the partnership, misfielded on couple of occasions and dropped a few catches to leave a dent on the England batting line up.

Wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant tried everything in his power to keep the morale of the team high by constantly coming up with cheeky one-liners and motivational dialogues and was one of the handful of sources of entertainment for the Indian viewers at the time.

However, bored fans finally got something to focus all their attention towards when the brilliant cameramen who was present at the venue, took a hilarious shot of skipper Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma quietly and helplessly watching the ball race towards the boundary.

The flat pitch and the absolute batting class by Root and his fellow batsmen so far have been detrimental to the members of the Indian cricket team, who are quickly losing the motivation to bowl with intent.
The strategy of the visitors of defending the experienced players like Ravichandran Ashwin and Ishant Sharma while targeting the relatively inexperienced bowlers like Shahbaz Nadeem and Washington Sundar has been working well for them so far.
With the England total more above the 300-run mark, Team India need to get wickets or else the match can get out of hand for them, distancing them further away from their wish to participate in the World Test Championship.
