‘Why So Few Followers?’ Rohit Sharma Fan Asks Jimmy Neesham, Kiwi’s Reply Wins The Internet

With time, the game of cricket has gone beyond the boundary ropes with the communication gap between the players and the fans getting almost non-existent. People can directly get in touch with the athletes, engage in great, meaningful conversations which can lead to a better relationship between the two sides.

Unfortunately, the opposite is also true and sometimes people can end up asking some of the oddest questions, putting the players in a spot in front of the rest of the world.

For Instance:

But if you have the sense of humour of New Zealand all-rounder James aka Jimmy Neesham, you have the ability to get out of tricky situations leaving the rest of your followers with a smile on their faces.

One such incident took place on Thursday when an Indian cricket fan asked Neesham why he had such few followers on Twitter.

Why do you have only 236K followers?

— Abhishek (@axxxxarrr) March 11, 2021

Neesham, who currently enjoys a grand following of 236.2k followers on the social media platform, ended up replying to him, asking him what he meant by “only 236k”?

The Indian fan then shared a screenshot of the Twitter profile of Neesham’s Mumbai Indians skipper, and the vice-captain of the Indian cricket team in limited-over matches, Rohit Sharma, who had more than 18.5 million people following him on Twitter.

The unfair comparison between the two cricketers, both of whom, well celebrated in their respective countries and the rest of the world, drew the Rohit Sharma fan a lot of flak, some of which came from within India.

To bhai what do you want from him ... Indian cricketers k alawa sabke kam he honge follower .... logic ke to baat kar

— Mandeep Singh Dahiya (@dahiyamandeep18) March 11, 2021

dekho baat wo nhi hai tum ch*tiye ho , tumhe lgta hai uske followers jyada hone chahiye to sidha bol dete ki tum kaafi funny ya entertaining ho tumhare followers jyada hone chahiye compare krne ki kya jarurat thi , pr nhi tum sab to twitter par sirf hagne aate ho

Haan bhai bahut great tweet kr diya. Naam roshan kr diya india ka. Such embarrassing idiots.indian fans are just so stupid.

The fan tried to justify his tweet by saying that the felt Neesham was one of the most hilarious people on Twitter and it is because of that that he felt that the Kiwi deserved a bigger following.

This is when the cricketer responded once again, with one of the most cheeky comments which made his followers applaud the spirit with which he took the comment and responded nonetheless.

Kiwis only deal in per capita stats thanks https://t.co/UnhQE0DmRv

— Jimmy Neesham (@JimmyNeesh) March 11, 2021

“Kiwis only deal in per capita stats thanks,” he tweeted.

Then began the over-the-top calculations of who between Neesham and Sharma had more followers per capita with fans churning out statistics on the New Zealand and Indian populations.

Nz population 5 million and india is 1.3 billion

— Mannu Da🇮🇳 (@_Sareef_Ladka) March 11, 2021

Or You Can Say,
Active Users Of Twitter:
In India:17.5 million
In New Zealand: 330,000

— Yatendra Raghav (@imYRaghav) March 11, 2021

And that's around .043 follower per kiwi (5.5 mil) compared to Rohit's .017 (1.1 bil). You clearly win.
