I was born and bred in Delhi. Nothing hurts me more to see my city cry while its residents act clueless about its agony. It’s not that we don’t know what’s happening. It’s like we chose to act like everything’s alright. Diwali 2016, the city got choked. But what the hell, it’s Diwali, let’s burst crackers till we choke our lungs. Congratulations, we succeeded. We can’t breathe. Our eyes hurt. The pollution levels are on a fatal high. The crop burning made it worse. But still, it is majorly because of relentlessly idiotic cracker burning. It’s not Diwali alone when the nature takes a beating, Yamuna died at the hands of religion. 

This picture, shared on social media by Indian Express, should be a slap on our face.

The sky is hazy. The toxic foam is as high as a wave. Still, there are people abiding to what they ‘think’ religion tells them to do. Look at it, look at it closely, we must feel ashamed.
