The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra was recently announced, but what grabbed our attention was how big the camera module really is. We actually wanted to know how big the camera bump would be but after looking at the pre-announcement unboxing video it seems our estimation was lower than what we originally thought. The smartphone has a massive camera bump where it houses three-rear facing cameras and a 1-inch OLED screen. Now that the smartphone is official, we finally know how big the camera bump actually is.

The main reason why the camera bump is larger than anything we’ve seen yet is because of that little 1-inch OLED screen. The cameras themselves are also quite large such as the 50-megapixel wide-angle sensor. The wide-angle sensor is 1/1.2-inches in size which is slightly smaller than the traditional point and shoot cameras. The larger sensor does result in more light coming through for better image output. The camera module also has a 48-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide and a 48-megapixel periscope 5x optical zoom sensor as well.
The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra’s camera sensor is definitely the largest and thickest we’ve ever seen. What’s good is that it’s just not for show as the larger sensors and the 1-inch screen will be quite useful. To be honest, I’m quite impressed with what Xiaomi was able to achieve with this smartphone. Sure, you might find it difficult to try to put the Mi 11 Ultra flat on a surface but in return, you might get a smartphone that is capable of great photography and new innovation such as the 1-inch OLED screen on the camera module.
