The Covid-19 pandemic may have paralyzed India and its health care systems but one thing that it has surely failed to slow down is the rate of marriages in the country.

Considered to not just be a sacrosanct union between two people but between two families as well, marriages in India are said to be the biggest social event bringing scores of relatives and people together to celebrate the occasion.

However, with Covid-19 guidelines and lockdown regulations imposed by states limiting the number of people attending such events, weddings have not been able to accommodate as many people as they would have in normal circumstances.

Well, not in the case of a couple from India's southern Tamil Nadu state.

According to reports, a couple from Madurai tied the knot on a plane in order to evade lockdown restrictions.

With the Tamil Nadu government declaring that only 50 guests would be allowed at weddings, the couple apparently booked an entire flight from Madurai to Bengaluru so that all of their 161 guests could attend the wedding while the flight was mid-air.

According to a video that surfaced on social media, the groom can be seen tying the knot with the bride while being surrounded by relatives inside the plane.

The video showcases the clear violation of Covid-19 protocols like wearing masks as well as maintaining social distancing, at a time when the entire country has been caught in the firm grip of the deadly second wave of the pandemic.
