Heineken ‘Cheers’ Ronaldo’s Coca-Cola Hate Only To Realise That Pogba Did The Same To Them

Cristiano Ronaldo’s global influence was put on display when after the UEFA EURO group stage match against Hungary on Tuesday, the Portuguese decided to take matters into his own hands and removed two bottles of Coca-Cola out of the video screen, before endorsing agua or water on live television.

As a result, the world-renowned beverage brand lost over $4 billion in market value over-night, stirring not only the entire football world but also bringing in a lot of free publicity, which can never be bad for a company as big as them. "Everyone is entitled to their drink preferences," said Coca-Cola in a short statement, adding that each individual has different "tastes and needs".

However, yet another famous beverage company tried to make the most out of this situation and congratulated Ronaldo on achieving a massive feat of becoming the top-scorer in the history of the European Championship, reaching 11 goals to go past Michel Platini's record of nine, while also acknowledging his preference of water over *wink wink* any other drink.

Heineken’s timely tweet was considered to be a win by social media marketers from all over the world while acknowledging a little bit of banter between big brands is always healthy and at the very least, entertaining for the fans and consumers.

Little did they know that Paul Pogba, France’s midfielder, would go on to do the exact same thing to them later in the evening, creating a hilariously ironic situation, which would make Heineken delete their tweet and resort to a fetal position to endure the shame.

According to reports, the bottle of Heineken kept in front of the French footballer did not contain alcohol in it. However, Pogba, without knowing what was in it, decided to pick up the bottle and not just remove it from the frame but also placed it under the table, where no cameras would reach.

You know what they say about karma, right? So the next time you decide to take on a big-time multi-billion dollar company in social media warfare, ensure that you may not end up in a similar scenario because the online trolls are as unforgiving and ruthless as they come.
