These Intriguing Tales Of 2 Real Life ‘Tarzans’ Show A Side Of Human Life We Didn’t Know About

We can't say much about fairy tales coming true and Disney princes or princesses coming to life, but if there’s one reel life Disney character which has come to life from our childhood, then it’s the mighty, the bold, the Jungle hero Tarzan. Recently, a man identified by the name of Ho Van Langh, who is 44 years of age was found and dubbed as a ‘real life’ Tarzan.

The story dates back to the Vietnam War, which happened almost 41 years ago. Ho’s father, Ho Van Thanh, who is now 85 years old, fled the war-stricken area with his two sons after their mother was killed in a bombing attack. They took refuge and solace in the jungles and eventually his father decided to just live there. Hence began Tarzan’s life journey where he grew up catching rats for dinner, wore loincloth and made houses out of tree branches.

The family was discovered by locals in the area around 2013 and got fairly acquainted with them. Around 2-3 years later, the owner of a company named Docastaway, which offers exotic vacations in uninhabited parts of the world, tried coming in contact with Ho and his father. What began as an acquaintance meeting, ended up becoming a life changing event for Mr. Alvaro Cerezo. In Alvaro’s words, Ho is ‘childlike’. He has no concept of time except for the day time and night time, and above all, in his four decades of existence on this planet, his father never told him about the existence of the opposite gender.

Ho’s diet consists of tropical and local finds in the mountain range which he calls home. His food choices are limited and include rats, bats, birds, lizards, snakes and other small animals found in the jungle.

If you’re wondering how and why his father survived in the jungle and never returned, well the answer to that is that firstly, he was reportedly an army veteran himself. So perhaps he was well equipped in survival instincts and secondly, he developed a phobia of not returning to civilisation as he believed that the war was not over yet. The family is out of their jungle life and are adapting to the modern way of living. Here’s a documentary showcasing the full story of Ho’s life:

Few years ago, another real life Tarzan’s news got viral. The man named Jason was found in Hongkong. Jason was found living near a beach all by himself with a house made of tree branches and decorated with plastic bottles and the waste washed away near the shore.

Jason was later discovered by Disney and was employed as Tarzan! Jason’s life was not always ‘fun’ and he didn’t have the means of earning money until a few years ago. He was orphaned at a young age and found a recluse alone near the jungle shore.

While people now envy him and find him ‘cool’, if there’s anything we learn from Disney characters and their stories, then it’s the power of resilience and changing your own destiny.
