Amidst the desperate evacuation of citizens and diplomats due to the shockingly rapid collapse of the Afghanistan government, we saw a video of the U.S. Air Force C-17A cargo jet taking off from the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul. While the shocking videos showed a dire image of the situation on the ground, we didn’t really know what was happening on the plane, until now.

According to a report by The Drive, the Air Traffic Controller could not believe what he was hearing from ‘Reach’ RCH871 on the airwaves after its swift departure from Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul.
“Ok, how many people are on your jet? 800 people on your jet? Holy cow… Good job getting off the ground!”
You can hear the controller’s voice from the recording below as he was directing the plane from Delaware-based 436th Airlift Wing.
