After 10 months of musical journey and hours of riyaaz, Indian Idol 12 contestant Pawandeep Rajan has emerged as the winner of the singing reality show and has made his family proud. The singer was awarded a cheque of Rs 25 lakh and a Maruti Suzuki Swift car. The singer said that he plans to start a music school for kids in his village in Champawat, Uttarakhand with the prize money. 

In an exclusive interview with India Today, he said, “I got to learn a lot of things. I got a family on the show, and we are going to work together. I compose music, can do programming, and also sing. Winning Indian Idol is the first step. After this, the real journey starts. I have got a lot of love from the public. I have got this trophy as a responsibility that I have to take care of. This is our country's biggest title and I would like to take its name forward." 

Interestingly, he wants to use a part of the prize money to start a music school in his village. “I would like to open a music school in my village for the kids there. So that the kids can learn music and bring recognition to the place,” he added.

He was also asked about Indian Idol 12 contestants who have been trolled on the Internet in the past. Speaking about the same, Pawandeep added, “The bigger the platform, the greater are the obstacles. So, we have to bear it. We have received the love of the people, and they will continue to support us. And those whose hearts we could not win, we will try to win them as well.”

Apart from Pawandeep Rajan, the other contestants in the top six included Arunita Kanjilal, Mohd Danish, Sayli Kamble, Nihal Tauro and Shanmukha Priya.
