5 Most Heartbreaking Breakup Scenes In Movies That Hurt More Than An Actual Breakup

Breakups are not that bad, if you really think about it. They help us be clearer about what we are looking for in a partner and evolve as a person.

However, at the same time, we don’t give two hoots about what lies beyond this tragic and sudden ending of a beautiful relationship that we didn’t even see coming. It’s the worst feeling.

However, watching movies about breakups and scenes we can resonate with does help.

Basically, these scenes help us understand that we are not alone, heartbreaks happen and people survive (or end up together in the end). Not all movies get it right, but some truly capture the emotions and feelings one goes through during a breakup so well, that we almost feel like it’s happening to us.

Here are five of the saddest and most heart-wrenching movie scenes where the onscreen couple broke up and we felt the pain as if it was happening to us:

1. Jai Tells Meghna He Loves Aditi (Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na)

As much as we wanted Jai and Aditi to end up together, we all felt super bad for Meghna when her boyfriend yells at her for acting childish and running away from reality, while it was simply her way of dealing with her broken family.

The next he tells her he loves his best friend and breaks up with her. She still understands and kisses him goodbye.

2. Tara begs Ved To Stay (Tamasha)

The most iconic scene from the movie is when Tara realises she hurt Ved by saying she fell in love with the cheerful person he was in Corsica and that he needs help.

She meets him and refuses to let go but he leaves anyway. This scene is so emotional and the song ‘Agar Tum Saath Ho’ makes it a true tear-jerker.

3. Vijay Calls Off The Wedding (Queen)

There is so much to learn from Kangana Ranaut’s Queen and we are glad that Vijay ended things with Rani, because she wouldn’t have taught us that breakups don’t mean the end of the world otherwise.

But the scene where they meet up in a restaurant a day before the wedding and he says he doesn’t want to marry her while the innocent Rani has no idea that he is leaving her, for good (pun intended) is so heart-wrenching.

4. Charu Breaks Liquid’s Heart (Pyaar Ka Punchnama)

The movie is practically a guide on how to not pick a partner. All three boys are fooled and played by their girlfriends or potential girlfriends but Nishant aka Liquid had the worst experience of all.

Not exactly a breakup but how Charu insults him and leaves him crying like a helpless child after leading him on for so long is truly devastating.

5. Zaara Meets Veer For The Last Time (Veer-Zaara)

The scene where Zaara meets Veer for what they thought was the last time still makes us bawl our eyes out.

The song ‘Do Pal’, the melancholy theme and the powerful performances of the most talented actors made the scene feel too real.

Admit it, you cried your eyes out when Zaara ran into Veer’s arms after parting ways once and then left him behind in tears. Iconic.
