Ever since the news of Sonu Sood being involved in tax evasion surfaced, people have been itching to hear the actor’s side of the story. 

The I-T department searched his premises for three days from 15 September and summoned him for questioning. After the search and probe, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said that he had invaded tax of Rs 20 crore.

However, his fans expressed confidence that the actor was clean and supported him throughout, even though they were yet to hear from the horse’s mouth. 

After much speculation and people contemplating if the 'messiah' Sonu Sood was, in fact, guilty of tax evasion, he has finally opened up about the controversy.

In a social media post, he shared, “You don't always have to tell your side of the story. Time will. I have pledged myself to the service of the people of India with all my strength and heart. Every rupee in my foundation is awaiting its turn to save a precious life and reach the needy.”

He added, “I have been busy attending to a few guests, hence was unable to be at your service, for the last four days. Here I am back again in all humility. At your humble service, for life. My journey continues.”

He also said in an interview regarding the probe that the IT officials were happy with the good work he was doing. 

“I asked them – have you ever seen this kind of documentation, details, paperwork? They said no…they were also happy with whatever they were seeing. They said it was the smoothest four days of raids for them,” he said.

The CBDT claimed that the Sonu Sood Foundation set up by the actor has collected donations of a total of Rs 18.94 crore from the last five to six months. However, only Rs1.9 crore had been spent for relief work while some Rs 17 crore had been lying unutilized.

Here is what Sonu Sood had to say in response to this, “It will not even take 18 hours to finish 18 crores. But I have to make sure every single penny is used in a proper way, for a genuine and needy person”
