‘Mard Ki Body’: Taapsee Shuts Down Troll By Taking It As Compliment But Gets Bashed Instead

Known for her strong comebacks to trolls, Taapsee Pannu has not disappointed us as she has again responded to a troll comparing her physical transformation to a 'mard ki body' on Twitter. After a tabloid published a photo of her with the title "Guess who?" a Twitter user claimed that only Taapsee Pannu could have such a macho figure, writing: "Ye mard ki body wali sirf Taapsee hi ho sakti hai."

Taapsee didn’t take any offense to it and sportingly responded to the troll. She tweeted, “All I will say is... Just remember this line and wait for September 23. And advance mein THANK YOU, I really worked hard for this compliment." The picture in question is from her upcoming movie Rashmi Rocket.

It was a sassy response but it hasn’t gone down too well with social media users. People felt that the comparison to a ‘Mard’ is not a compliment but indeed a sexist remark.

In a recent interview with The News Minute, Taapsee said that she does not really respond to trolls anymore. “I ignore most trolls because most are bots or unleashed in a coordinated campaign. They have nothing substantial to offer and get triggered when you are successful. It gets amusing to watch. They call me jobless when I don’t have time to take up a film till 2023. But, I’m way too secure to react to that,” she said.

Previously, in an interview with SpotboyE, Taapsee had mentioned that her family members get affected by the trolls. “Somewhere, my voice counts. I guess I do command a certain power and influence. That’s why they want to shut me down. I don’t get triggered easily. When I do, I don’t stoop down to the level of the troll. I will never lose my dignity in replying. That’s the basic difference between me and the troll,” she said.

Talking about Rashmi Rocket, the film is set in Kutch, Gujarat, and stars Pannu in the title role of a gifted athlete. According to the synopsis, “The story follows the tale of ‘rocket’ who finally gets the chance to realize her dream and compete professionally, only to realize that the race to the finish line is peppered with many hurdles. What seems like an athletic contest turns into her personal battle for respect, honour, and even her very identity.”
